Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of the study are to to know the ability of the students of the fourth semester of English Study Program of FKIP University of Riau in pronouncing English vowels that do not exist in Indonesian. The population of this study was the fourth semester English student department FKIP University of Riau. The instrument used by the writer in this research was a test, tape recorder it that to record the students’ pronunciation. In analyzing the data, error analysis was used the research employed students’ errors in pronouncing English vowels into separate divisions, employing the percentage descriptive analysis to count all error and interpreting the result of the data analysis. Finally, the result of the analysis shows that students are considered “Good to Excellent” in pronouncing English vowels. Keywords:  Students Ability in Pronouncing and Pronouncing English Vowel Not Exist in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to improve students’ ability in writing recount text by applying STAD as one cooperative models. This is an action research with two cycles, and each cycle consists of 4 meetings. The subject of research is a class consisted of 20 students; 6 female and 14 male students of the second year students in MTs HasanahPekanbaru. The steps of the collecting data are by administering the pre test, did action, and administering the post test at end of the cycle, and also by doing observation for the teacher’s and the students’ activities at every meeting. In each meeting, the teacher explains the material, sets the students group works, sets the individual quiz, calculates the scores, and recognizes the scores. In order to analyze the data, the writer used the T test, revealed that students’ writing ability in recount text increased after the action was administered. It could be seen that the average scores of pre test was 56.83, improved 76.42 at post test I and improved again to 79.94 at post test II. The post test II showed that the students could reach the minimum standard criterion. In addition, from the observation sheets, it showed the high students’ activities in learning process in every meeting. In brief, STAD model could improve second year students’ ability of MTs HasanahPekanbaru in writing recount text. Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of parental education and learning facilities on student achievement in class XI IPS SMAN 2 Tambang Kabupaten Kampar. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Tambang of the month December 2014 to February 2015. The research method used is descriptive quantitative method. A population of 121 students and all the sampled population (census). Data collection instrument used was a questionnaire using a Likert scale for the independent variables: education level of parents (X1) and learning facilities (X2). The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression. The result showed that the level of parental education and learning facilities simultaneously influence on student achievement. It is based on the results of analyzes, calculations show of F > F table (5.515 > 2.696). While partially levels of parental education and learning facilities effect on student achievement in class XI IPS SMAN 2 Tambang. This is evidenced by the t test, parental education level variables obtained t value 2.291 dengan 2,319 t tabel 1,660 and learning facilities with ttabel 1,660 value. So it can be concluded that the level of parental education and learning facilities effect on student achievement with a contribution of 85.5% and the remaining 14.5% is influenced by other factors not examined as the school environment, society, and so forth.   Keywords : influence, parental education levels, facilities, academic achievement

Abstract

Abstract: This was a Classroom Action Research. This research was about the application of DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) to improve reading comprehension. The objective was to improve the ability of the second grade students of SMK Muhammdiyah 2 Pekanbaru in reading comprehension by using DRTA strategy. It was conducted to the second grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah 2 pekanbaru especially XI AK 2 as the subject of research. Reading comprehension test and observation sheet were used as the tools of collecting the data. The result of this research showed that DRTA strategy could improve the students’ ability in comprehending reading texts. Students’ mean score improved from 46.62 in pre-test to 63.39 in post-test 1, and to 79.19 in post test 2. It is in line with the activeness of students that improved from post test 1 to post test 2. The students were able to identify the main idea, references, and supporting idea of the text. DRTA strategy could improve the students’ prior knowledge by predicting the text and confirm or revise their prediction. This research recommended that teacher could use DRTA strategy to improve students’ ability in reading comprehension since it was an effective strategy by predicting the text and then confirm or reject their prediction.Key words: DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) strategy, reading comprehension

Abstract

ABSTRACT :Based on the result observation on 7 June 2014 at Pondokan X RT1/RW3 the village Simpang Baru subdistrict Tampan city of Pekanbaru, there are: (1) some occupants unfriendly, (2) founded some of groups among occupants. The aim of this research is to know the interpersonal communication colleger at Pondokan X RT1/RW3 the village Simpang Baru subdistrict Tampan city of Pekanbaru, kind of the communication are: (i) communication among two persons or more, (ii) informal situation, (ii) kind of focuse interaction, (iv) exchange of verbal and non verbal signal, (v) feed back. The focuse of this research are include of some aspects, there are place, actor, and the activity that was done by the occupants of Pondokan X RT1/RW3 the village Simpang Baru subdistrict Tampan city of Pekanbaru. This research used qualitative from fenomenology, fenomenology is let something become real as look live a real. The research get an information from the owner, of Pondokan X as key informant, and the visitor as control informant. The research get the data by using observation method, interview, and documentation. Abstract

Abstract: This study was motivated by the low skills of students in meronce, the average value of 69.9 and was lower than the minimum completeness criteria specified namely 70. The number of students 28 people, students who completed only 12 students with a percentage of 42.9 %, while students who did not complete 16 students with a percentage of 57.1 %. In addition, the lack of creativity in learning meronce activity, because the teacher does not give an idea in advance of a variety of shapes roncean result, only a few people are able to meronce according to the instructions of teachers, because less active teachers guide students in meronce. The hypothesis in this study is a learning model when applied directly, it can increase the skill meronce Elementary School fifth grade students 72 Pekanbaru. This study aims to improve the skills meronce Elementary School fifth grade students 72 Pekanbaru with direct application of learning models with a number of students 28 students. Form of research is classroom action research. The research instrument consisted of learning tools and data collection instruments such as teacher observation sheet activities, student activities, and skills meronce. The data presented in this study are: (1) The skills of students in meronce increase can be seen from the average score of the class is the base class average only 69.9 in the first cycle increases the average grade and cycle menjadi 74,1 II increased to 79.2. This is an increase of 4.2 units from the base score to the first cycle, whereas from the first cycle to the second cycle increased by 5.1 units; (2) Activities of teachers increased from an average of 61.7 % first cycle is increased to 88.3% in cycle II with an increase of 26.7%; and ( 3 ) Student activity during learning with direct instructional model also increased, on average, in the first cycle was 68.3% and the average of the second cycle is 86.7% increased by 18.3%. From the results of the study proved that the application of direct learning model can improve the skills meronce Elementary School fifth grade students 72 Pekanbaru. Abstract: This one shot pre-test post-test design was aimedto find out the effects of Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA)method towards the ability of the first year students of SMA N 10Pekanbaru in comprehending text. This study answered thefollowing research question:”is there any significant effect DRTAmethod to reading comprehension achievement of the first yearstudents of SMA N 10 Pekanbaru in comprehending text?”Theparticipants were 36 students of the first year students of SMANegeri 10 Pekanbaru. The time of this research was on academic2014-2015, from august - October at SMA N 10 Pekanbaru. Thisschool is located on St.bukitbarisan, Pekanbaru. The data wascollected by using pre-test and post-test. The data was analyzed byusing SPSS Aplication. The research finding of this research showedthat there is significant effect of Directed Reading Thinking Activitytowards the ability of the first year students of SMA N 10 Pekanbaruin comprehending reading text.the finding also proved that in thepre-test students’ average score was 6.82 and after the treatmentapplied there is contribution in post-test score 0.74.Keywords: Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA), Comprehending Reading Text,one shot pre-test post-test design.

Abstract

Abstract:This research is based on the establishment and changing character is not happen by itself. Character is build from the relation with an object, person, group, value, individual relation, group relation, and there are so many possibilities that influence the character in Pacu Jawi culture on Pariangan, the formulation of this research is, is there are nation values in Pacu Jawi culture on Pariangan, Pariangan district Tanah Datar regency? Also, the aim of this research is to know the character nation values in Pacu Jawi culture in Pariangan,  Pariangan district Tanah Datar regency. The population of the research is societies in Pariangan with people whom 18-65 years old, 4.151 souls. Writer takes the Earl Babbie (Prijana, 2005) theory, to takes relevant sample in qualitative research, “sampling is the process selecting”. The selecting process is to get people, situation, activities, and document that writer get from the people who able to express it, or number of population then chose based on the aim and people who relevant to the problem. Based on Earl Babbie, the researcher allowed to takes the sample with purposive sampling technique and researcher takes 70 souls. The data collected from observation, questionnaire, interview, and library technique. The data analyzed with qualitative descriptive analysis. The result of this research show that there are character nation values in Pacu Jawi culture on Pariangan, Pariangan district Tanah Datar. The values contained in the culture ox runway are : Value of religious, honest, tolerance, discipline, hard work, independent, democratic, national spirit, friendly, peace-loving, caring enviroment, social care, responsibility. So the hypothesis that there is nation of character values in  Culture Pacu Jawi in Nagari Pariangan Pariangan District of Tanah Datar. Keywords: nation character, culture, pacu jawi

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to identify the effect of using team quiz active learning strategy on students’ learning motivation of Civic Education in seventh grade students at Junior High School Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru. The population of this research was all seventh grade students of Junior High School Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru which was consisted of 176 students and divided into 5 classes. The sample of this research was VII.3 by 34 students and VII.5 by 36 students, and population in this research consisted of 70 students. The sample of this research was taken by using purposive sampling technique by homogeneity test. The instrument of this research consisted of teachers’ activity, students’ activity, and students’ learning motivation. After the treatment, the percentage of students’ learning motivation in experimental class was 100% of the class population or 36 students and categorized into “very high”. While, the percentage of students’ learning motivation in control class was 97.06% of the class population or 33 students and categorized into “high”, and 1 student or 2.94% of the class population categorized into “low”. Based on the t-test in experimental class and control class, the result of the test showed that t-count > t-table (35.85 > 1.67), it can be concluded that there was significant difference in significance level 5%. The analysis above indicated that the team quiz active learning strategy had effect on students’ learning motivation of Civic Education in seventh grade students at Junior High School Tri Bhakti Pekanbaru. Abstract: This research at backgrounds by mark sense fosterling life background that variably at shohwah's Ace Reformatory namely, fakir, hole in the wall, fatherless, piatu, orphan and waif. With that situation needs intensive handle it deep teach fosterling one of it which is with mengimplementasikan assesses religious character that its aim is that that child coming can answer future daring and can function properly if is reinstated to society. So writer takes research title “ Studi About Religious Character Point Implementation at reformatory Ace shohwah City Looker district Pekanbaru ”. Problem formula on observational it is how implementation assess religious character at Reformatory Ace shohwah City Looker district Pekanbaru?. To the effect this research is subject to be know how implementation assess religious character at Reformatory Ace shohwah City Looker district Pekanbaru. Population in observational it is exhaustive sitter and Ace Reformatory fosterling sohwah City Looker district Pekanbaru who gets its all told be 39 person and total sample 38 person. Data collecting instrument which is questionnaire consisting of 58 item questions / statements. Interview consisting of 17 questions. Data analysed by Descriptive kualitatif passes through percentage. Of respondent answer percentage count as a whole acquired adverse answer as much 49,63% one lays in rank 40% 55%. Hypothesis thus that declare for religious character point implementation which is performed with every consideration at sohwah's Ace Reformatory City Looker district Pekanbaru is refused. Base observational Result, therefore gets to be concluded that studi about religious character point implementation at Reformatory Ace sohwah City Looker district Pekanbaru which is adverse.  Key words: Implementation, Assess Religious Character.
