Abstract

Abstract: This study was conducted because of the low learning outcomes of science students of grade V of SDN 6 Kadur, Minimum Criteria of Completion (KKM) set at school is 65. Of the 23 students, the KKM reaches 9 students (46.67%), while students who have not reached the KKM are 14 students (53.33%) with an average grade grade of 57.39. To overcome these problems, the researchers apply cooperative learning model type Make a Match. The purpose of this study is to improve the learning outcomes of science students of grade V SDN 6 Kadur. The result of data analysis found that the average score of base score 57,39 increase in cycle I was 31,43% to 75,43. In cycle II the average score of students also increased by 4.90% to 79.13. At the basic score of students' learning completeness classical science is 39% (not complete). After applied the model of cooperative learning type Make A Match on the first cycle student's classical learning completeness increased to 95% and on the second cycle students' learning completeness classic increased to 100%. Teacher activity at the first meeting of cycle I the percentage was 66.67% with good category. The second meeting increased to 77.78% with good category. At the first meeting of the first cycle of cycle II teacher activity increased to 83.33% with very good category. At the second meeting it increased to 94.44% with very good category. Student activity at first meeting of cycle I the percentage is 55,55% with less category. The second meeting increased to 77.77% with good category. At the first meeting of the second cycle of student activity increased to 83.33% with very good category. At the second meeting it increased to 94.44% with very good category. The increasing of teacher and student activity percentage was also accompanied by the increasing of student's learning outcomes from base score 57,39 to 75,43 in cycle I and 79,13 in cycle II. There has been an increase of 37.88% from the baseline score to cycle II. From the results of the research analysis can be concluded that the application of cooperative learning model type Make a Match can improve the learning outcomes of science students of grade V SDN 6 Kadur.Keywords: Co-operative type Make a Match, science learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstract : This classroom action research was aimed to know whether think pair share technique can improve the reading comprehension of the second year students of SMPN 1 Kemuning Indragiri Hilir through recount text. This research consisted of two cycle. There were thirty students participated in this study. The data were collected from the reading comprehension tests, observation sheets, and field notes. The results were that The average score of pre-test was 63 (Fail). Then, the average score of the students in the first cycle-test was 75 (Good) and the last, the average score of the students in the second cycle-test was 79 (Very Good). In addition, from the observation sheets result, there was an improving of students’ participation in every single activity and also in their cognitive, affective and the psychomotor . Based on the tests, it can be concluded that think pair share technique can improve the reading comprehension of the second year students of SMPN 1 Kemuning Indragiri Hilir through recount text. This research also recommended the students and other researchers to conduct similar research to get further information.Keywords : improving, reading comprehension , think pair share tecnique , recount text

Abstract

Abstract: This study is entitled “A Study on the Ability of the Second Year Students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru in Writing Descriptive Texts. This study concerns with five aspect of writing. They are: Grammar, Vocabulary, Mechanic, Organization, and Fluency. The aim of this study is to find out the ability of the second year students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru in writing Descriptive text. The data collecting technique is using a writing test. The students’ writing results are checked and scored by three raters. They are Elmalia Santos S.S, Erva Yanti S.Pd, and Rita Dwi Indah Wulandari S.Pd. The writer chose these three raters because they teach English in junior high school and they have experienced as an English teacher. Thus ,their assessments are believed and to be a reference in collecting the data.The research findings are as follows: first, the ability of the second year students in writing descriptive texts is in good level with the average score of 62.75. Second, the students’ average score in terms of Grammar is 61.80, in terms of Vocabulary is 68.80, in terms of Mechanic is 70.02, in terms of Organization is 61.80, and in terms of Fluency is 52.40. It is the most difficult problem faced by the students in writing descriptive texts. The findings show that the second year students of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Pekanbaru have relatively good level in writing descriptive texts. But with the average score of 62.75, they need to practice more in writing a text.Key Words: Study, Ability, Writing, Descriptive Texts.

Abstract

Abstract : The problem in this research is whether there is effect of standing dumbbell triceps extension exercise toward the strength of arms and shoulder muscle of 2014 Female A Students of Riau University which is still low, it could be seen from the observation of some of the branch sports which used the power of arms and shoulders, for example handball, gymnastics and shot put, among the three of these, it could be seen that their power was still low so they did not reach the target that had been set. This research is experimental research, the population in this research is the female student A of 2014 University of Riau, the sample in this research is the whole population which totals 8 students. The technique of collecting data is taken from the pre-test and post-test. The instrument used in this research is expanding dynamometer which purposes to measure the strength. The independent variable is the standing triceps dumbbell extension exercise (x), while the dependent variable is the strength of the arm and shoulder muscles (y). After that, the data is processed statistically to test the normality with Liliefors test at significance level 0,05α. The hypothesis is there is effect of standing dumbbell triceps extension exercise toward the strength of arm and shoulder muscles. Based on t test analysis, Tresult is 4.17 and Ttable is 1,895, which means Tresult > Ttable. It can be concluded that Ha is accepted. The result of the research concludes that there is a significant effect of standing dumbbell triceps extension exercise toward the strength of arms and shoulder muscle of Female A Students in the year of 2014 in Riau University.Key Words: Standing dumbbell Tricep Extension Exercise, the strength of shoulder and arm muscle

Abstract

Abstrak: This study titled is Implicature Conversation on Cigarette Advertisements on National Private Television Broadcast. This study aims to describe the type of implicature, and the implicit speech functions contained in cigarette advertisement on national private television broadcast. This research’s type was a descriptive-qualitative research. The data were obtained by uninvolved conversation observation method, recording technique, and note taking. The method of data analysis used is research qualitative method. To test the validity of the data used reference collection and discussion. The results of this research show that, first, the type of implicature in cigarette advertisement on national private television broadcast, that is a) general conversation implicature b) special conversation implicature and b) conventional implicature; second, the function of the implies implies in the cigarette national private television broadcast, that is a) statement, b) information, c) quip, d) advised and e) invited.Key Words: Implicature, The Implicit Speech Functions, Cigarette Advertisement

Abstract

Abstract: The research aim to know the effect of the use cantol raudhoh method of the reading skills of children ages 4-5 years old at PAUD LILIK distrik Bukitraya at ages 5 until 6 years old that consist of 21 student, namly research sample of children aged 5 until 6 class B that consis 21 children, taken using test formula T. The method used is pre-eksperiment design seen as an eksperiment not actual and the research uses a moder or one group per-test-postest design.The technique of collecting data used method of observation sheet assessment sheet and method of documentation. The technique analyzing data used with statistic technique t-test by using SPSS for windows ver 20.0Based on test resul obtained hipothese are that the lowed value and upper value is negative it can be concluded that Ha be accepted and Ho rejected. The result tcount = 9.181 and ttable df from 20 at the level of errors 0,05 so that ttable = 2,080, there for a significant influence on the ability to read the beginning of children ages 5 to 6 years after using cantol roudhoh method. The research aim to know the effect of the use cantol raudhoh method of the reading skills of children ages 4-5 years old at PAUD LILIK distrik Bukitraya , Pekanbaru thus a significant influence on the ability to read the beginning of children aged 5 to 6 years after using a media cantol roudhoh.Keywords: the research, cantol roudhoh, reading, young learners

Abstract

Abstract: This research is motivated by the low of IPA achievement in fourth grade students of SD Negeri 19 Batang Duku, with an average grade 58.50. While the value of a minimum completeness criteria (KKM) IPA is 65. Among the ten students, only three students who reach KKM. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted aims to increase IPA achievement of Elementary School fourth grade students 19 Batang Duku by applying the cooperative learning type Number Heads Together. Data collection instruments in this thesis is the teacher and student activity sheets and learning outcomes. This thesis presents the results of studying the data obtained from the average results of study before action 58.50 to 17.94% to 69.00 in cycle I. In the second cycle increased to 11.59% with an average of 77.00. The activities of teachers in the first cycle of the first meeting to obtain a percentage of 67.85% with the good category, at the second meeting has increased with the percentage of 71.42% both categories. Furthermore, the first meeting of the second cycle of teacher activity also increased with the percentage of 85.71% is very good category and at the second meeting of the second cycle increased again with a percentage of 96.42% is very good category. Activity of students in the first cycle of the first meeting to obtain the percentage of 67.85% less category, at the second meeting has increased by 75% the percentage of both categories, the students begin to understand this cycle of learning activities by applying the type Number Heads Together (NHT) is characterized by the activity of students in the first meeting of the second cycle increased with the percentage of 85.71% is very good category. At the second meeting of the second cycle increased with the percentage of 92.85% is very good category. This research in the fourth grade Elementary School 19 Batang Duku prove that the application of the Number Heads Together (NHT) can increase IPA achievement of fourth grade students of SD Negeri 19 Batang Duku.Keywords : Model Number Heads Together (NHT), IPA achievement

Abstract

Abstract : This study aims to determine the effect of Jump To Box Exercise on the leg muscle power ability of the Football team at SMA Negeri 1 Pangkalan Kuras. This research method uses a pretest posttest one group desaign design. The number of samples 12 with the sampling technique that is total sampling. The instrument used in obtaining data is a vertical jump with the t-test analysis technique. Based on the analysis conducted the average value of the pretest was 12.52 and the average posttest value was 13.64 with a different value of 1.11. Furthermore, t-test analysis was performed then the t-test value between the initial test and the final test Jump To Box practice on leg muscle power with a ttable at a significant level of 0.05 with degrees of freedom N-1 (11) showed that the value of tcount (2,466)> tcount ( 1,796) thus it can be concluded that there is a significant influence on the Jump To Box training on leg muscle power in the Soccer Team 1 Pangkalan Kuras High School. Abstract

Abstract: It has been applied the Power of Two active learning strategy to know the improvement student learning achievement on the subject of Colloid in class XI IPA of Senior High School Number 9 Pekanbaru. The research is a kind of experiment research with pretest-posttest design. The samples of this research were the students of class XI IPA 5 as the experimental class and students of class XI IPA 3 as the control class. Experimental class is a class which was given a treatment by applying active learning strategy type The Power of Two in learning process. The data were analyzed by using t-test. Based on the result of data analysis, it obtained tcount>ttable which is 1.96>1.67. It means that the application of active learning strategy type The Power of Two can improve student learning achievement on the subject of colloid in class XI IPA of Senior High School Number 9 Pekanbaru. The improvement category of student achievement at experiment class was high category with N-gain is 0.78. Meanwhile, the improvement category of student achievement in control class was medium category with N-gain is 0.69.Keywords: Active learning strategy, The Power of Two, Achievement, Colloid

Abstract

Abstract: SAS method (Structural Analytical Synthetic) in beginning reading  skill improvement in I Grade Primary School. This research aim to describe: a step-by-step method of SAS (Structural Analytical Synthetic) that can improve beginning reading and improved reading skills beginning first grade elementary school students. This research uses classroom action research conducted in two cycles, each cycle includes the planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The results include: the use of measures SAS method can work well and improve the I grade read the beginning of elementary school. Background problem in this research is the low reading skills of students who do not reach KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria) established by the school which is 72 to 21 the number of students who do not reach KKM 11 students (52.3%) and who completed 9 students (42, 8%). Based on the problem, the researchers conducted a PTK using SAS. In using this method, the quality of the learning process has increased. Based on data from this study can be seen from the observation of student activity in the first cycle with a percentage of 60% the first meeting enough categories, 75% meeting II both categories increased in the second cycle to 80% in the first meeting either category, and 95% meeting II category very well. Activities of teachers also increased from 75% in both categories dipertemuan I, 80% II meeting both categories in the first cycle and to 85% with very good category at the first meeting and 90% II meeting with the category very well in the second cycle. Preliminary data as the basis of a score of 21 students averaged 67.07, and the first cycle increased to 68.72 (2.46%), on the second cycle increased to 80.80 (20.47%). From the above data it can be concluded by applying SAS can improve the results of the reading skills of students of class I SDN 88 Pekanbaru. Keywords: beggining reading skill. SAS method
