Abstract

Children should be exposed to character education at an early age. Naturalistic intelligence and environmental consciousness should be introduced and instilled early on. The 2013 Curriculum includes this love of nature as one of the components of religious and moral growth. In spiritual and ethical development, we learn about the value and respect for God’s creations as well as appropriate behavior toward other living beings, including plants and animals. The loving-nature mindset is integrated into the learning objectives of religious values and character in the Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka). This study aims to describe the forms of nature-loving education in a kindergarten in Indonesia and the types of activities that children can engage in. This research employs a qualitative methodology with a case study approach. The population of this study consists of all 18 children in Kindergarten B. Data collection was conducted using observation and checklist assessment techniques, and data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman technique. The results indicate that children are more enthusiastic about visiting animal enclosures directly and creating crafts from recycled materials as part of fostering naturalistic intelligence and a love for nature.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the implementation of an English language learning program based on Islamic personality at Islamic playgroups in Kudus and to know the obstacles in practicing the English language based on Islamic personality. This research uses qualitative research. Techniques in collecting data are done by interviews, observation, and documentation. The result of this research is the program has been implemented according to the training curriculum at every stage. The trainers transfer their knowledge, practice English pronunciation, and give an example to the participants in using the right English language based on the Islamic personality. Then, the teachers practice the new English words based on Islamic personality in each playgroup. Through habituation, example, conditioning, and clarity of sanctions for violations of rules carried out professionally in a formal education environment based on Islamic values, children will be able to apply Islamic values in a pleasant atmosphere. The limited school time to practice pronunciation will cause children in Islamic playgroups to be less focused on practicing the English language based on Islamic personality. However, the efforts to overcome obstacles can be done with supportive non-verbal language by using thumbs up, applause, smile, handshake, and so on.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an interactive pop-up storybook to introduce the concept of Islamic philanthropy to children aged 5 to 6 in Kudus District. The research sample consisted of 49 children from two Raudlatul Athfal (RA) schools, selected using a multi-stage random sampling technique. The research method employed the ADDIE development model. Phase I analysis involved a literature review, institutional assessment, and media needs analysis. Phase II focused on conceptual media design. Phase III involved media construction and validation by experts. Phase IV included media implementation, and Phase V was the evaluation stage. Data analysis techniques encompassed both qualitative and quantitative methods. Expert validation results regarding children’s ability to understand Islamic philanthropy concepts indicated that all components were valid for measuring children’s comprehension according to early childhood development stages (ages 5 to 6). Paired sample t-test calculations yielded a t-value of 3.501, with a Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.001, indicating significance (p < 0.05). Data analysis concluded that the interactive pop-up storybook effectively introduces Islamic philanthropy concepts to children.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Design, Explain, Develop, and Evaluation-Project-based Learning (DEDEn-PjBL) model in stimulating creativity among children aged 5-6 years in two kindergartens in Makassar City, using a mixed-methods approach. Employing an embedded concurrent design, 30 participants were involved in project-based learning activities using the DEDEn-PjBL model. This model encompasses the Design, Explanation, Development, and Evaluation phases to foster creativity. Data were collected through educator interviews, project observations, and quantitative assessments of children’s creative development using standardised rating scales from the Ministry of Education and Culture. The validity of the collected information was verified using source triangulation techniques. The findings indicate a significant increase in creativity in terms of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The children designed their projects using pre-prepared materials and tools, resulting in a 33.33% improvement to the “Developing as Expected” category and a 66.66% improvement to the “Developing Very Well” category. This study recommends incorporating the DEDEnPjBL model into the curriculum, as it significantly enhances creativity. However, the study is limited to two kindergartens, thus its findings cannot be widely generalised. Additionally, the short implementation period may not be sufficient to observe the long-term effects of the DEDEn-PjBL model.
