Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the views of early chilhood teachers and their preparation in implementing inclusive education in the city of Salatiga. This research method uses descriptive qualitative and field research. Data were obtained through interviews and questionnaires from early chilhood teachers in Salatiga City. The collected data is followed up with data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. The results show that not all early chilhood teachers understand that Salatiga has declared itself as an inclusive city since 2012. The research data shows that some early chilhood teachers understand about inclusive education but they are not ready to accept children with special needs because they feel incapable in providing services, facilities, have special teachers for children with special needs, and do not yet have an inclusive curriculum so they are afraid that it will make the child's situation worse. The preparations needed by early chilhood teachers to implement PAUD inclusive schools are preparing facilities and infrastructure for learning for both children with special needs and normal children, preparing mature programs through mature inclusion curricula, preparing special teachers such as psychologists/special therapists and equipping teachers and parents in receiving and handling children with special needs through training activities. The success of inclusive education apart from the readiness of educational institutions is to change the public's understanding of children with special needs, children with special needs have the same rights as normal children so it is necessary to build cooperation with parents and the community to learn together to build inclusive schools.

Abstract

Parents introduce electronic screens to children because they are busy, want to provide religious viewing, and hope to develop children’s imagination. Then this study aims to dig deeper into the intersectionality of religious animated films that children watch, educational values, and parenting styles. This study chose a phenomenological study to analyze these social practices. Informants are parents who interpret children’s religious animated films as a system of positive norms, rules, and values. Nine groups of husband and wife became research informants. Interviews were used to obtain data which was analyzed according to the parents’ interpretive categories. Data representation is formed through the experiences and values that the informants believe. Interpretive conclusions come from data reductions obtained from informants and present research results away from the value bias that researchers believe. The reasons for the values parents feel toward children’s religious animated films are explained further in the study.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the shift of the family in its function as the main pillar in instilling character values in early childhood. The method used in this research is a focused interview method with a qualitative approach. The stages of instilling children's character in the family today are (1) knowledge (knowing), where children are given an understanding of the values, norms, and principles expected in the family. (2) acting, where children need to practice these values in real actions, and (3) habit, where the expected positive characters have been internalized in children so that they automatically and unconsciously act in accordance with these values. Later, this development can be integrated and directed in every school activity. Thus, character education can be well integrated into the school curriculum and extracurricular activities. Through this approach, it is hoped that the goal of character development in children can be achieved more effectively and sustainably.
