Abstract

This study presents a model linking work-family conflict (WFC), job engagement, emotional exhaustion, and turnover intention. The primary objective was to investigate the direct effect of work-family conflict on turnover intention and its indirect effect through job engagement and emotional exhaustion. The data were obtained by a questionnaire from a sample of 111 respondents of Papuan Female who work at PT Freeport Indonesia. Data analyzed by used structural equation modeling with PLS-based and found two insignificant paths in models. The result showed that WFC hasa significant effect in improving turnover intention and emotional exhaustion, but have no significant effect in lowering job engagement. Moreover, job engagement does not significantly effect in lowering turnover intention, while emotional exhaustion has a significant effect in increasing job engagement and turnover intention. The mediation test results indicated that job engagement cannot provide an important role, both in the work-family conflict effect on turnover intention, and emotional exhaustion effect on turnover intention. Instead, emotional exhaustion can provide a partial mediating role in the work-family conflict effect on turnover intention, in which this path is one of the important findings with practical implications and the consequences of these findings for future research are further discussed.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of successor characteristics on the succession planning of family companies in Bali. This research was conducted at family companies on the textile and weaving industries in Bali, both small, medium and large scale, with the condition that it has done minimal succession in the second generation. Successor characteristics and succession planning were measured by a qualitative approach using a Likert scale. Then the data were analyzed using Partial Least Square Path Modeling (PLS-PM). The results of the study found that the characteristics of successors had a positive and significant effect on succession planning. It meant that the better the successor's characteristics, the better succession planning would be. Willingness to take over the management of the family business will strengthen the commitment of all family members. Suggestions for further researchers, this family business research is limited to those engaged in the textile and weaving industry, so it needs to be expanded again for family businesses engaged in other business sectors.

Abstract

The industrial centerhas a significant role in supporting the national economy through its ability to absorb labor, technology transfer, and add value to products. The strength of industrial centers is its resilience in facing unstable economic conditions. Government through Nawa Cita has included industrial elements as part of the priority agenda to improve welfare through independence in the economic field. Malang is the second-largest city in East Java which has numerous industrial centers as an economic basis. The industrial centers in Malang City to be mentioned are the Sanan tempe chips, the Blimbing furniture industry, the Arjosari rattan industry, and the Dinoyo ceramics industry. The centers of the industry need to develop so that they can compete with products from other regions and countries. This study aims to map existing industrial centers in Malang and determine the best industrial centers or leading industrial centers by using 12 criteria of regionally superior products according to Minister of Home Affairs Regulation of Indonesia Republic Number 9 of 2014 concerning Guidelines for Regional Superior Product Development. Furthermore, this study will analyze the weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats of the leading industrial centers. Then the results of the analysis are mapped into a matrix of internal and external factors as a basis for determining strategies to improve the competitiveness of leading industrial centers. The research used the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and SWOT Analysis as the research method. The information explored through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and in-depth interviews. The results showed that Malang City has 4 (four) leading industrial centers, namely tempe chips, ceramics, furniture, and rattan. On the IE matrix, the position of Malang's leading industrial centers is in cell V which is maintaining and defending. In this cell, the strategy that must be carried out by the superior industrial centers of Malang City is an intensive strategyby conducting market development and product development. The market development strategy is to introduce existing products or services to a geographical area or a new market segment. Based on the QSPM matrix, the alternative strategy that has the highest TAS score is to increase demand by using social media and supporting clusters (tourism destination) as a marketing channel supported by the superiority of the products and services offered.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the ability to operate rice mills in the long run. This is a qualitative study with a case study design conducted at the Djasa Bhakti rice mill in Turen, Malang. The results of this study indicate that the rice mill environment consists of external and internal. External companies consist of consumers, competitors, suppliers, and government policies. Observation of the external environment is done to find out opportunities, especially for observations of competitors and government policies carried out through the PERPADI Business Community. The internal company itself consists of production capabilities, human resources, marketing, and finance. The internal company continues to be improved to get opportunities. Cost leadership strategies are applied to companies that make companies that can sell 50 tons per month and have competitive advantages. Based on its assets and turnover, PP Djasa Bhakti is a medium-scale rice mill SME. Therefore, future researchers can conduct research related to strategy management practices and competitive advantage in both micro and small scale rice mills and other SMEs.
