Abstract

Imported beef cattle are cattle (not breeds) imported from abroad to Indonesia, which have superior characteristics to be kept for a certain period to produce meat. The purpose of this research is to explore the quality of imported beef cattle entering Indonesia. The object of the research is beef cattle Breed Brahman Cross, Heifers type as many as 331 heads imported from Australia. The variables observed were Arrival weight (AW), Reweigh (RW), Selling Weight (SW), Weight Difference (WD), Fattening Duration (FD), and Average Daily Gain (ADG). Data analysis used Descriptives Analysis, Bivariate Correlations, and Linear Regression methods with IBM SPSS Statistics tools. The results showed that the lowest AW was 227 kg and the highest was 480 kg; the average weight of the RW results is 354.43 kg; The lowest SW was 361 kg and the highest was 619 kg with an average SW of 481.34 kg; The lowest FD is 70 days and the highest is 109 days; The lowest ADG is 0.62 kg and the highest is 2.43 kg with an average ADG of 1.34 kg. This study concludes that the Selling Weight (SW) of imported beef cattle Breed Brahman Cross-type Heifers is positively and significantly affected by the arrival weight (AW) of 44.6%, Re-weighing (RW) of 52.6%, weight difference (DW) of 18%, and Average Daily Gain (ADG) of 38.3%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between body weight and body weight gain of Sentul chickens aged DOC, 1, 2, and 3 months.  The research materials were Sentul and Merawang chicken. This research method was an experimental method with a sample of 41 males and 41 females from each breed. The data collected includes; body weight and body weight gain of DOC-3 months old. The data that have been collected were analyzed using the t-test of average differences (t-test), the relationship between body weights was analyzed using the correlation test. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the body weights of male and female of Sentul chicken aged DOC-2 months were not significantly different (P>0.05), but significantly different (P<0.05) at the age of 3 months. The highest body weight gain was at 1-2 months in both males and females. The highest correlation between body weights for a certain age is between 1-2 months so that 1-month body weight is a good bodyweight for selection based on body weight.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of fermentation time on pH levels, total bacteria and total fungi litter chicken fermented. The research method was carried out by collecting various chicken litters from 16 closed house cages in Semarang City, Demak Regency and Kendal Regency, then combined and fermented. The study used a completely randomized design in the direction of 4 treatments and 4 replications, the treatments were T0 = 0 week litter curing; T1 = 3 weeks litter curing; T2 = 6 weeks of litter curing; T3 = 9 weeks litter curing. The parameters observed were pH value, total bacteria and total litter fungi in broiler chickens. The results showed that there was a significant effect (P <0.05) between curing time on the pH value and the total litter bacteria in fermented broiler chickens. The longer the curing time, the pH value decreases, because the longer fermentation process produces more organic acids. The results of the calculation of total bacteria show that the best treatment is the T2 treatment with the number of bacteria as much as 8.12 x 107 log CFU / g. Meanwhile, the total fungus had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on all treatments. The conclusion of this research is the best chicken litter fermentation at 6 weeks duration of ripening. Produce a total of bacteria and fungi as much as 0.25 x 103 CFU/g and indicated that they were not pathogenic bacteria and fungi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the income of the BUMDes “Mandiri”  layer chicken farm and partner farms, as well as the size of the income earned by BUMDes “Mandiri”  and breeder partners from the profit-sharing system carried out together. The research respondents were the BUMDes “Mandiri”  farm manager and two breeder partners. Operating income is calculated by finding the difference between business revenues and total business costs incurred. The share received by BUMDes “Mandiri”  and partner farmers from partner farm income is determined based on the percentage agreed in the partnership agreement, namely 51% for BUMDes “Mandiri”  and 49% for breeder partners. The results showed that the income of the BUMDes “Mandiri”  livestock business in one month was Rp. 3,668,890.00 or Rp. 3,668.89/head, while the partner's husbandry business income was Rp. 6,404,505.00 or Rp. 12,809.00/head. The portion of the partner's husbandry business income that belongs to BUMDes “Mandiri” is Rp. 3,266,295.00/month and that which belongs to breeder partners is Rp. 3,138,210.00/month.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to a determined the breeding value of native roosters based on macroscopic and microscopic semen. Ten native roosters were used in this research. Complete individual cage, semen collection tools and substance, macroscopic and microscopic tools, and substance were used in this research. The native rooster was rested for 2 weeks. Massage techniques were used for semen collection. Parameters observed were volume, pH, color, viscosity, smell, sperm concentration, and sperm livability. The semen collection was repeated 5 times. One-way analysis of variances was used for data analysis with the tools SPSS 16. The breeding value was estimated based on primary traits of semen and calculated for each rooster to make a rank. The results showed that significant parameters (P<0,05) are semen volume and sperm concentration, while the non-significant parameters (P?0,05) are pH semen and sperm livability. Semen color is yellowish-white, semen viscosity is medium-viscous and smell is spermin. The results of breeding value rank are rooster numbers 6, 7, 5, 3, 2, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 1. The conclusion is the breeding value of Native roosters is varied. The recommendation is Native chicken breeding need to apply selection used breeding value based on semen quality.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness and the best concentration of Moringa leaf extract (MLE) in the citrate-egg yolk (C-EY) to maintain the motility and viability of spermatozoa kacang goat. Semen was collected from 3 goats aged two years; by using the artificial vagina method. The semen was evaluated macroscopically and microscopically. The semen that had >70% sperm motility and >250x106/ml sperm concentration was divided into 4 equal tubes, each diluted with100% C-EY (P1), 10% MLE+ 90%C-EY (P2), 20% MLE +80% C-EY (P3), and 30% MLE+70% C-EY (P4). The diluted samples were then stored in a refrigerator (3-5?C) and evaluated for motility and viability every 24 hours. The study was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replications. The results showed that the addition of MLE in C-EY significantly affected goat spermatozoa's progressive motility and viability. The data showed that the spermatozoa kept during four days in a diluent of P2 had higher (P<0.05) motility 44.67±4.80% and viability 74.24±4.46%than the other three diluents of P1(36.00±4.70%; 70.10±3.6%), P3(33.67±0.42%; 66.85±4.99%) and P4 (29.67±3.99%; 63.96±5.44%). This study concluded that adding 10% MLE was the best concentration as source energy in 90% C-EY diluents, which effectively maintained the motility and viability of kacang goat spermatozoa for four days of storage at a temperature of 3-5oC.

Abstract

This study aimed to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in intron-2 on growth hormone receptor (GHR) gene in Papua local chickens using the PCR-RFLP method to study its relationship with growth characteristics. Data on the bodyweight of 49 chickens aged 1, 2, 3, and 4 months (22 males, 27 females) and DNA samples were used for this study. The DNA fragment of size 718 bp in intron-2 of the GHR gene from the study chicken was successfully amplified using a pair of specific primers. The PCR-RFLP/HindIII analysis results found this locus's two genotypes (HindIII++ and HindIII--). HindIII+ and HindIII- alleles were 0.02 and 0.98, respectively.

Abstract

The leading cause of malnutrition in NTT province is the lack of balanced nutrition, one of which is macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. So, there is a need for innovation from livestock products rich in readily available animal protein, one of which is chicken. Utilization of the results of heating technology Moringa leaf flour which is rich in micro and macronutrients is available in the province of NTT, so that it can provide processed products in the form of chicken sausage chips with the addition of Moringa leaf flour. This study aims to determine the effect of adding Moringa leaf flour P0, P1, P2, and P3 on chicken sausage chips' chemical characteristics and nutritional value. Each treatment P0 Moringa leaf flour (0%), P1 Moringa leaf flour (1%), P2 Moringa leaf flour (2%), P3 Moringa leaf flour (3%). The experimental method used is a simple, completely randomized design (CRD) with four treatments and four replications. Analysis of the ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) data and Duncan's further test, while the nutritional value content was calculated according to BPOM regulation NO 19 of 2019 concerning Nutrition Label Reference. The results showed that the addition of Moringa leaf flour had a significant effect on the chemical characteristics of P<0.05. According to the National Food and Drug Administration Agency (BPOM), for appropriate nutritional content, information on the nutritional value of chicken sausage chips.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to measure effect of hen body weight to the growth rate of native chicken. Ten native hens divided by two classifications (heavy and light body weight), 2 native roosters, 58 (from hen with heavy body weight) and 62 (from hen with light body weight) female day old chicks (DoC) use in this research. Hatching machine, communal cage, feeder tray, drinking jar, balance body weight and vernier calliper, were use in this research. Body weight and morphometric of female native chicken from DoC up to 10 week was measured. T-test analysis was used with help of SPSS 25. The results showed that the hen with heavy body weight resulted to the higher morphometric and body weight of female native chicken (P<0.05) on 7 and 8 week, respectively. The growth rate gain of female native chicken hatched by the hen with heavy body weight is significantly difference (P<0.05) on body weight.  The conclusion is the hen with heavy body weight will result to the higher body weight and morphometric of female native chicken.

Abstract

This study evaluated the physical quality of complete rabbit feed containing different legumes. The study design was an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and five replications. The treatments were as follows: P1 =complete feed without legume;P2 = complete feed with 10% moringa leaves meal; P3 = complete feed with 10% Leucaena leaves meal; P4 = complete feed with 10% turi leaves meal. Parameters measured were hardness, durability, density and specific gravity of rabbit pellet complete feed. Data analysis uses analysis of variance and if there is a treatment with a significant effect, then it is continued with Duncan's multiple distance test. The results showed that legumes had no significant effect on impact resistance, friction resistance, pile density, and specific gravity of the rabbit pellets produced. It was concluded that the use of legumes, namely Moringa, lamtoro and turi did not reduce the physical quality of the pellets.
