Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara gaya belajar, gaya mengajar, dan lingkungan belajar terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Rendang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif ex-post facto, dengan studi korelasional yang melibatkan 100 orang siswa sebagai populasi sampel. Kuesioner digunakan untuk mengukur data gaya belajar, gaya mengajar, dan lingkungan belajar. Sedangkan data prestasi belajar bahasa inggris siswa diperoleh dengan pencatatan dokumen nilai rapor. Instrumen yang disusun distandardisasi untuk mengetahui validitas dan reliabiltasnya. Pengolahan data dilakukan dengan analisis deskriptif, regresi sederhana dan regresi ganda. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa; 1) gaya belajar siswa memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan sebesar 21,3%; 2) gaya mengajar memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan sebesar 25,9%; 3) lingkungan belajar memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan sebesar 19,8%; dan ketiga variable secara bersama-sama memberikan kontribusi sebesar 36,2% terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa inggris. Sumbangan efektif gaya belajar siswa sebesar 9,50%, gaya mengajar sebesar 15,6% dan lingkungan belajar sebesar 11,8%. Secara simultan ketiga variabel memberikan sumbangan efektif (SE) sebesar 36,25% terhadap prestasi belajar bahasa inggris. Kata Kunci : gaya belajar, gaya mengajar, lingkungan belajar dan prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris This study was conducted in order to find out a correlation between learning styles, teaching styles, and learning environment towards grade eleven students? English achievement of SMA Negeri 1 Rendang. It was conducted by employing a quantitative ex-post facto design with correlation study involving a total number of 100 students as population sample. Questionnaire was used to measure learning styles, teaching styles, and learning environment. While the data of students? English achievement was obtained from the students? scores of English in their school report card. The instrument was standardized in order to know its validity and reliability. The data analysis was done descriptively by using simple regression and multiple regressions. The findings showed that; 1) there was a significant contribution of Learning styles (21.3%); 2) there was a significant contribution of teaching styles (25.9%); 3) there was a significant contribution of learning environment (19.8%); and 4) there was a significant contribution of those three variables towards students? English achievement (36.2%). The effective contribution of learning style was 9.50%, teaching style was 15.6%, and learning environment was 11.8%. Simultaneously all variables have effective contribution (SE) about 36.25 % towards students? Abstract

Abstract Key words: self esteem, gender differences, communicative competence This study was designed as an ex-post facto which aimed at seeing the effect of self esteem and gender differences toward kindergarten students? communicative competence. The samples were students at the age between 3-5 which were taken from TK A of 7 kindergartens around Denpasar and Badung area. The data were collected by using questionnaire, document analysis and observation.. The data were analyzed by using Two-way ANOVA with 2x2 factorial design.  The result of the analysis showed that there was no significant difference between male and female kindergarten students in their communicative competence. It was also found that there was no interaction between self esteem and gender toward kindergarten students? communicative competence. Since the result showed an absence of interaction between self esteem and gender, post-hoc multiple comparison with Tukey test was not carried out. This study concluded that there was no significant difference between male and female kindergarten students regarding their level of self esteem. There were several factors that possibly affect the finding of this study. The factors were the process of gender acquisition, early bilingualism, positive self esteem among children and teachers? questioning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menganalisa, menggambarkan dan menjelaskan macam ? macam pematuhan dan pelanggaran maksim dari Grice dan seberapa sopan dan tidak sopan yang ditunjukan dalam interaksi kelas yang dihasilkan oleh siswa. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 9 dari SMP Ganesha Denpasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif sebagai model penelitian. Data diambil melalui observasi dan dianalisa menggunakan teori Prinsip Kerjasama dari Paul Grice (1975). Penelitian ini hanya fokus menganalisa ujaran siswa saat mereka berbicara dengan guru. Penelitian menunjukan bahwa siswa mematuhi sebagian besar Prinsip Kerjasama, yaitu, maksim kuantitas, maksim kualitas dan maksim hubungan dalam bagian tertentu di dalam proses belajar mengajar. Penelitian ini juga menemukan pelanggaran dari semua maksim yang dihasilkan oleh siswa di ruang kelas. Selanjutnya, juga ditemukan siswa mematuhi maksim (65,3%) lebih banyak daripada pelanggarannya (34,7%) dalam interaksi kelas. Penelitian ini juga menunjukan siswa menunjukan kesopanan dalam interaksinya dengan guru. Kebanyakan siswa dianggap menunjukan kesopanan negatif, terutama dalam pemberian rasa hormat. Dalam hal ini siswa menggunakan kata penghormatan ?Mr.? di dalam ujarannya untuk menunjukan rasa hormat dan kesopanan mereka kepada guru sebagai orang yang lebih tua yang harus dihormati di sekolah.Kata Kunci : Maksim percakapan, pematuhan maksim, pelanggaran maksim, karakter, kesopanan. This study focused on analyzing, describing and explaining the types of observance and non-observance of Grice?s maxim and characters represented in classroom interaction in view of politeness and impoliteness. This study only focused on analyzing the students? utterances when they talked with the teacher. This study used descriptive qualitative method as research design. The subjects were the ninth grade students in SMP Ganesha Denpasar. The data collected through observation and analyzed by using Paul Grice?s (1975) Cooperative Principle. The study showed that students observe maxims of quantity, quality and relevance when they answer and asked question or giving opinion. The study found the violation of all Grice?s maxim produced by students. In this case, the student give less or more information, wrong information or lack of evidence, irrelevant, unclear and ambiguous meaning.Furthermore, it was found the students obeyed maxim (65.3%) is more than the violation (34.7%). The study also showed that when the students indicated to obey conversational maxim, they represent honesty, confident, curiosity and responsibility and showing politeness. The students considered to show Negative Politeness, in giving deference by using the honorifics word ?Mr.? in their utterance to show their respect and politeness to the teacher.keyword : Conversational maxims, obeying maxims, violating maxims, characters represented, politeness.

Abstract

This study aimed at describing and explaining the experiential meaning, interpersonal meaning and textual meaning as well as the nature of schematic structure in the students? writings under study. This study used descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis as its technique. In collecting the data, some techniques were used such as content analysis, document analysis and also interviewing. This study involved 24 students of the eleventh grade of SMAN 1 Kubu in the academic year 2013/2014. Thus, the object of this study was 24 students? expository writings analyzed through Systemic Functional Linguistics. From the result of the study, it was found out that the students expressed the experiential meaning by using six process types. Mostly, they used material process in their writings. The students expressed the interpersonal meaning of the text through the use of declarative, imperative, modality and personal pronoun. It was revealed that the expository texts under study were mostly constructed in declarative forms. The students expressed the textual meaning of their expository texts through developing themes and rhemes of the clauses constructing the texts. For that reason, the thematic development or progression was analyzed to recognize the textual meanings. Meanwhile, it was identified that twenty three expository writings were built in three main stages, while there is one text which was constructed in two stages or generic structures. The three stages cover introduction (thesis), main body (arguments) and conclusion (reiteration).keyword : Discourse Semantics, Expository Writing, Systemic Functional Linguistics.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Tondowala , Sulvia Fery Hanry (2012), Pengembangan tes objektif pilihan ganda  Berbasis taksonomi anderson dan krathwohl  Untuk kemampuan membaca bahasa inggris Kelas viii smp di Kabupaten Poso, Propinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Tesis, Penelitian dan Evaluasi Pendidikan, Program Pascasarjana, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Marhaeni, M.A.   Kata Kunci: Tes Objektif Pilihan ganda, Taksonomi Anderson dan Krathwohl, dan membaca pemahaman bahasa inggris.   Penelitian ini merupakan model penelitian pengembangan yang diadopsi dari model pengembangan Sugiyono. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengembangkan tes objektif pilihan ganda berbasis taksonomi Anderson dan Krathwohl. Populasi penelitian yaitu SMP kelas VIII di Kabupaten Poso, Propinsi Sulawesi Tengah, dengan sampel penelitian berjumlah 250 orang siswa kelas VIII yang diambil dengan menggunakan tehnik cluster sampling dari 12 kelas pada 7 sekolah, dengan rincian sebagai berikut: 4 kelas dari SMP di kabupaten, 4 kelas dari SMP di Kecamatan dan 4 kelas dari SMP pedesaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan, bahwa instrumen tes yang dikembangkan telah mempunyai nilai validitas dan uji empirik yang cukup baik. Berdasarkan hasil uji lapangan dan analisis data ditarik simpulan sebagai berikut; (1) Kisi-kisi tes objektif pilihan ganda yang berdasarkan taksonomi Anderson dan Krathwohl memungkinkan pembuatan butir tes yang bervariasi untuk setiap jenis proses kognitif. (2) Validasi tes berbasis taksonomi Anderson dan Krathwohl yang meliputi: (a) Validitas isi sudah memenuhi syarat dengan melakukan melakukan uji judges, judges menyatakan instrumen relevan untuk diujicobakan. (b) Uji empirik instrumen pun dinyatakan sudah memenuhi syarat karena semua ketentuan yang harus ditempuh seperti; uji validitas butir, uji  tingkat kesukaran butir, daya beda dan uji efektivitas pengecoh, semuanya sudah dilakukan seperti yang telah ditentukan. (3) Reliabilitas tes objektif pilihan ganda berdasarkan taksonomi Anderson dan Krathwohl dinyatakan sudah memenuhi syarat karena konsistensi atau keajegan tes masih terhitung tinggi.     ABSTRACT   Tondowala, Sulvia Fery Hanry (2012), The Development of Anderson and Krathwohl Taxonomy Based Objective Test for English Reading Ability of Eight Grade Students of Junior High Schools in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. Marhaeni, M. A.   Keywords: objective test, Anderson and Krathwohl Taxonomy, reading comprehension.   This research is a developmental research model which is adopted from Sugiyono. It aims at developing objective test which is based on Anderson and Krathwohl Taxonomy. The population of this research was eight grade students of junior high schools in Poso Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, while the sample was 250 eight grade students of which was taken using cluster sampling technique from twelve classes of seven schools: four classes from the junior high schools in the regency, four classes from the junior high schools in the subdistric, and four classes from the junior high schools in village area. The findings of this research show that the instrument of the developed test has had adequate validity value and empirical test. Based on the field test and data analysis, the conclusion can be made as follows; (1) the blueprint of objective test which is based on Anderson and Krathwohl Taxonomy enables the development of the varied objective test for every type of cognitive process, (2) the validation tests which are based on Anderson and Krathwohl Taxonomy which include: (a) the content validity has fulfilled the requirement through the process of judges test, the judges stated that the instrument is relevant to be tried out, (b) the empirical test proved that the instrument has fulfilled the requirement since all of the requirements; item validity test, index of difficulty test, index of discrimination test, and distracter effectiveness test have been done properly, (3) the reliability test for the objective test proved that the instrument has fulfill the requirement since the consistency of the test can be categorized as high.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan strategi mengajar yang digunakan oleh guru, peran yang dimainkan oleh guru dan kesulitan yang dialami oleh guru ketika mengajar phonics. Phonics merupakan mata pelajaran yang mengajarkan anak-anak di usia dini konsep membaca dan menulis melalui bunyi yang dihasilkan dari setiap huruf dan menghubungkan setiap bunyi pada huruf-huruf yang terdapat dalam satu kata. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi peserta dan dokumentasi. Instrumen pengumpulan data adalah foto, observasi daftar centang dan wawancara. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif naratif menerapkan model Miles dan Huberman. Kegiatan analisis data berupa reduksi data, pemaparan data, dan penarikan kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi guru dalam mengajar phonics di PAUD Regents School sesuai dengan strategi mengajar yang dipaparkan oleh Fletcher (2009), terdapat beberapa strategi mengajar tambahan yang digunakan dalam mengajar phonics yang tidak dituliskan di dalam theory. Hasil penelitian tentang peran guru juga menunjukan bahwa guru memiliki kebiasaan dalam melakukan perannya yang juga ditunjukan melalui bahasa. Temuan penelitian ini dapat diambil sebagai acuan dalam mengajar membaca dan menulis melalui pengajaran phonics di sekolah pada umumnya atau TK pada khususnya.Kata Kunci : pengajaran phonics, strategi guru, peran guru, kesulitan guru This research aimed at describing the teachers? strategies and roles in teaching phonics in PAUD Regents School Bali. Phonics is a subject which teaches children the concept of reading and writing through sounds produced by the letters and letter sound correspondences in a word. Techniques for collecting the data were participant observation, and documentation. The instruments of the data collection were photo, checklist observation, and interview guide. The data were analyzed using the descriptive narrative analysis technique applying Miles and Huberman?s model. The activities of data analysis were data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results of this research showed that the teachers? strategies in teaching phonics in PAUD Regents School were suitable with the strategies recommended by Fletcher (2009). The researcher also found some strategies used by K1 teachers which were not stated in the theory. Moreover, the result of the teachers? roles observation showed that teachers showed some behaviors and language expression in doing the roles. The findings of this research can be taken as a reference in enabling the children to read and write through phonics teaching in public school in general or in Kindergarten in particular.keyword : phonics teaching, teachers? strategies, teachers? roles, teachers? difficulties

Abstract

Penelitian eksperimen ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan (1) kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas X SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional, (2) kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas X SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran GI melalui diskusi dan prediction guide, dan (3) mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran group investigation melalui diskusi dan prediction guide terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas X SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar. Populasi penelitian ini siswa kelas X.K1, X.K2, X.K3, X.K4, dan X.K5 SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar tahun ajaran 2014/2015 (N=216). Sampel penelitian ini siswa kelas X.K2 sebagai kelas control dan X.K3 sebagai kelas eksperimen (n=43) yang ditentukan dengan melihat kedua kelas ini merupakan kelas yang homogen dari kemampuan akademik dan berbicara merata. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan berbicara siswa melalui tes kemampuan berbicara menyampaikan laporan hasil observasi. Pengumpulan data melalui pretest dan postest kemampuan berbicara. Analisis data dilakukan melalui analisis varian dua jalur. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa, (1) kemampuan berbicara siswa SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional cukup baik (rata-rata = 55,651) terletak pada interval 41,67 ? rata-rata ? 58,33, kategori baik sebanyak 9 orang (20,93 %) dan kategori rendah sebanyak 34 orang (79,07 %). (2) kemampuan berbicara siswa SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar dengan model GI melalui diskusi dan prediction guide sangat baik (rata-rata = 89,698) terletak pada interval 58,33 ? rata-rata ? 75, kategori sangat baik sebanyak 42 orang (97,67 %) dan kategori baik sebanyak 1 orang (2,33 %). (3) terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran group investigation melalui diskusi dan prediction guide terhadap kemampuan berbicara siswa SMK Kesehatan PGRI Denpasar tahun pelajaran 2014/2015, taraf signifikansi ? = 0,05, bilangan (sig) 000 lebih kecil daripada ?. Simpulannya adalah bahwa penerapan pembelajaran model GI melalui diskusi dan prediction guide lebih baik daripada pembelajaran menggunakan model konvensional. Dengan demikian pembelajaran model GI melalui diskusi dan prediction guide lebih tepat dilaksanakan. This study population X.K1 graders, X.K2, X.K3, X.K4, and X.K5 SMK PGRI Health Denpasar academic year 2014/2015 (N =216). The sample of this study X.K2 graders as a class as a class X.K3 control and experimental (n =43) were determined by looking at the second classis a homogene ous class of academic ability and speaking evenly. Sources of datain this studyis theability to talk students through the test speech deliver a report on the observation. The collection of data through pretest and posttest speech. Data analysis was performed by analysis of variance of two paths. The analysis showed that, (1) the ability to speak SMK PGRI Health Denpasar using conventional learning model is quite good (mean = 55,651) lies in the interval 41.67 ?? average of 58.33, both categories were 9 people (20.93%) and low categories of 34 individuals (79.07%). (2) the ability to speak SMK PGRI Health Denpasar with GI model sthrough discussion and your prediction was good (mean = 89.698) lies in the interval 58.33 average ?? 75, the excellent category as many as 42 people (97.67 %) and both categories were1(2.33%). (3) there are significant group investigation model of learning through discussion and the ability to speak your prediction SMK PGRI Health Denpasar academic year 2014/2015, ?=0.05 significance level, number (sig) 000 is smaller than ?. The conclusion is that the implementation of the GI model learning through discussion and your prediction is better than using the conventional model of learning. Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) perencanaan pembelajaran apresiasi sastra berbasis kearifan lokal, 2) pelaksanaan pembelajaran apresiasi sastra berbasis kearifan lokal, dan 3) evaluasi pembelajaran apresiasi sastra berbasis kearifan lokal di SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah dokumentasi, observasi, dan wawancara. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis dengan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Perencanaan pembelajaran apresiasi sastra berbasis kearifan lokal secara umum sudah mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal. Pada RPP kelas VII dan VIII  pengintegrasian tampak pada materi, langkah inti, dan media pembelajaran. Pada RPP kelas IX pengintegrasian nilai-nilai kearifan lokal tampak pada bagian rumusan kompetensi dasar, indikator pembelajaran, tujuan, materi, kegiatan inti, pemilihan media, dan penilaian hasil pembelajaran, (2) Pelaksanaan pembelajaran apresiasi sastra berbasis kearifan lokal sudah mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal dalam semua tahapan pembelajaran, dan (3) Evaluasi pembelajaran apresiasi sastra berbasis kearifan lokal berlangsung sejalan dengan proses pembelajaran melalui pengamatan atas sikap dan respons siswa. Kata Kunci: apresiasi sastra, kearifan lokal, pembelajaran bahasa indonesiaABSTRACT This study aims at describing: 1) the instructional planning of literature appreciation based on local genius, 2) the instructional implementation of literature appreciation on the basis of local genius, and 3) the evaluation on the literature appreciation instruction on the basis of local genius at SMP Widya Sakti Denpasar. The methods used for the data collection were documents, observation, and interview. The collected data were then analyzed by means of descriptive and qualitative analysis. The result of the study shows that (1) the instructional planning of literature appreciation based on local genius, has generally integrated the values of local genius. In the instructional preparation for grades 7 and 8, the integration appeared in the material, whilst activities, and instructional media. In the instructional preparation for grade 9, the integration of the values of local genius were inserted in the basic competency, instructional indicators, objectives, material, whilst activities, media selection, the teaching and learning evaluation, (2) The implementation of the literature appreciation instruction based on local genius, has already incorporated the values of social genius in all stages of instruction, and, (3) The evaluation of the literature appreciation instruction which is based on local genius took place in line with the instructional process through the observation of the students? attitudes and responses. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan dan mendeskripsikan penerapan pendekatan komunikatif dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, dan menjelaskan dan mendeskripsikan hambatan yang dialami guru dalam menerapkan pendekatan komunikatif. Data dalam penelitian ini terdiri atas data primer (guru dan siswa) dan data skunder (silabus, rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, hasil kerja siswa). Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan metode dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan guru sudah menerapkan pendekatan komunikatif dengan tepat dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dengan penekanan pada keaktifan siswa. Peran guru sebagai fasilitator, yang hanya menjelaskan pelajaran jika diperlukan. Hambatan yang dialami oleh guru sebagai berikut: siswa masih tampak malu dalam mengemukakan pendapatnya, bahasa Indonesia yang digunakan banyak yang tidak sesuai kaidah, mencari materi yang cocok untuk semua siswa dan yang menarik perhatian, dan membutuhkan waktu lebih banyak dalam penerapan di kelas. Pendekatan komunikatif merupakan salah satu pendekatan yang memungkinkan guru menggunakan metode dan teknik untuk membantu memotivasi siswa dalam mengembangkan kompetensi komunikatif.   Kata Kunci: pendekatan komunikatif, penerapan, pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia, dan hambatan Abstract The aims of this research are to explain and describe the application of communicative approach in learning Indonesian, and to explain and describe obstacles that is experienced by teacher in applying communicative approach.  Data used in this research consist of primary data (teacher and student) and secondary data (syllabus, lesson plan, student's working result).  Research result shows that teacher has applied the communicative approach in the learning, facilitate student?s activity so the teacher is professional supported by his pedagogic competence which is to design the planning, implementation, evaluation, and the understanding of students.  Obstacles that are experienced by teacher are as follow: students seem to be still shy in express their opinion, most of Indonesian being used is not according to the principle, to find the appropriate material to all students and which is interesting to them and it needs more time to the application in classroom.  Communicative approach is one of approaches that enable teacher to use method and technique to help motivating the student in improving the communicative competence.   Keywords: communicative approach, application, Indonesian learning, and  obstacle

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 untuk siswa SMP kelas 8, menggambarkan bagaimana nilai-nilai karakter dimasukkan ke dalam pembelajaran berbasis masalah berdasarkan kurikulum 2013 untuk siswa SMP kelas 8, dan menggambarkan kualitas dari materi pembelajaran yang dikembangkan. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah para siswa dan guru kelas 8 SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. Penelitian ini menerapkan desain penelitian dan pengembangan yang berdasarkan teori Sugiyono (2011). Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dari penelitian ini adalah checklist, kuisioner, studi dokumen yang dianalisa secara deskriptif. Materi pembelajaran terdiri dari masalah-masalah yang diimplementasi melalui kegiatan mengobservasi, menanya, mengeksplorasi, mengasosiasikan, mengkomunikasikan. Materi pembelajaran juga mengandung karakter yang disisipkan melalui aktivitas pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan dalam proses belajar-mengajar berdasarkan metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Kualitas dari materi yang dikembangkan dapat dikategorikan sangat tinggi, karena nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh dari penguji ahli yaitu 4.22 ( ? 4.05). Maka dari itu, materi pembelajaran ini dapat digunakan sebagai contoh untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran berbasis masaah dengan menyisipkan karakter di SMP.Kata Kunci : Kurikulum 2013, Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah, Karakter Pendidikan This study aimed at developing materials which could be used for teaching English using Problem-Based Learning according to Curriculum 2013 for grade eight of Junior High School, describing how Problem-Based Learning instructional materials provide for character insertion according to Curriculum 2013 for grade eight of Junior High School, and describing the quality of the developed materials. The subjects of this study were students and English teachers of grade eight in SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja. This study applied research and development design proposed by Sugiyono (2011). The instruments used to collect the data of this study were checklist, questionnaire, and document study which were analyzed descriptively. The developed materials consist of problems which were implemented through the activities of observing, questioning, exploring, associating, and communicating. The developed materials also provide for character insertion through learning activities which are conducted in teaching-learning process based on Problem-Based Learning Method. The quality of the developed materials can be categorized as excellent, since the main score obtained from the expert judges is 4.22 ( ? 4.05). Therefore, these instructional materials can be treated as a sample model for implementing Problem-Based Learning with character insertion in Junior High School.keyword : Curriculum 2013, Problem-Based Learning, Character Education
