Abstract

Background. Mobile phone and laptop computer were emitting electromagnetic field while being operated. Those electromagnetic field were suspected to affect sleep quality. Poor sleep quality could decrease concentration, cognitive competences, social interaction, and health. Those could manifest on medical students academic and nonacademic achievement. This research aims to analyse the association between electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone or laptop computer with sleep quality of medical students. Method. This was an analytic observational research with cross sectional design, which held in Faculty of Medicine, Sebelas Maret University, on December 2015. The amount of 150 medical students were selected by purposive sampling. Electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone and laptop computer was obtained by Mobile Phone or Laptop Computer Usage Questionnaire. Electromagnetic exposure was measured by mobile phone or laptop computer on top of lap usage duration per day. Sleep quality was obtained by PSQI questionnaire. Data were statistically analyzed using Spearman test with SPSS for Windows edition 20. Result. This research involved 41 males and 109 females. The amount of 139 subjects (92.7%) used mobile phone in high level, whereas 73 subjects used laptop computer above their laps. From those 73 subjects, 52 subjects (71.2%) used laptop computers in low level. The Spearman analysis indicated that there was no significant association between electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone and sleep quality (p=0.198; r=0.106) as well as electromagnetic exposure from laptop computer and sleep quality (p=0.133; r=-0.178) of medical students. Conclusion. There were no significant associations between electromagnetic exposure from mobile phone or laptop computer with sleep quality of medical student. Abstract

Background: Andropause is a changes that occurs due to males because of reduction of testosterone levels. These changes is not only in the physical aspect, but also the psychological aspect. This study aims to determine the relationship between andropause with anxiety in males.Method: This research is a analytical observational research with the approach of cross sectional. The sample was taken using purposive random sampling after being selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria of research and the sample could not be selected when the result of L-MMPI ? 10. The subject filled in (1) curriculum vitae form and informed consent, (2) L-MMPI questionnaire to find out the respondents truthfulness in filling in questionnaire, (3) ADAM questionnaire as an early screening andropause and (4) T-MAS questionnaire to find out the anxiety score. 60 subject of research were obtained as the data and analyzed using with Chi Square and Coefisien Contingency (C).Result: The data analysis, with ? = 0,05, shows p = 0,06 which means p > 0,05 and C = 0,324 or 32,4%.Conclusion: This study revealed that there is no significant correlation between andropause and anxiety in males (p > 0,05).Keywords: Andopause, Anxiety

Abstract

Background: Prevalence of obesity has increased over the last 20 years and become worlds health problems. Obesity in children may cause medical and psychosocial consequences, which can influence their Intelligence Quotient. The aim of this research is to determine whether the difference of Intelligence Quotient existed in obese and non-obese children in Manahan Christian Primary School Surakarta. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study with cross sectional approach. Sample was collected by simple random sampling. Based on the anthropometric measurement of 2nd until 5th grade students in Manahan Christian Primary School Surakarta, 30 samples were collected for each group (obese and non-obese children). Intelligence Quotient test were performed using Culture Fair Intelligence Test (CFIT) 2A by the students who become research sample.Data were analyzed with unpaired t-test by Statistical Product and Serve Solution (SPSS) 21 for Mac. Results: Mean score of Intelligence Quotient in the obese children is 105.29, while in the non-obese children is 105.82. Result of unpaired t test showed the probability of 0.849 (p > 0.05). It means the significance value of the difference between the two groups was not significant. Conclusions: There is no difference of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) between obese and non-obese children in Manahan Christian Primary School Surakarta. Abstract

Background: Mass Labor Assurance (known as Jampersal) is a new program, it caused lack of knowledge in the peoples society from rural area. Based on data from Bantul Regency Health Department in 2011 there were 8,5 infant mortality per 1000 birth, and maternal mortality rate was 111,2 per 100.000 birth. Maternal mortality rate in Bantul Regencyincreased 29,1 per 100.000 birth compared with maternal mortality rate in 2010, while labor woman mortality rate was 82,1 per 100.000 birth (Bantul Regency Statistic Department, 2010). It was interesting, because on January 1st 2011 Mass Labor Assurance or Jampersal began to be implemented in every Indonesia region, meanwhile maternal mortality rate in Sedayu District of Bantul Regencyincreased. Methods: This research wasusing quasi experimental with pretest and posttestcontrol group design approaching study. Samplesin this researchwere mothers from Puskesmas Sedayu 1 of Bantul Regency working area. Samples were taken with rule of thumbs, divided by 2 groups consist of control group and treatment group.Total samples were 100 mothers, divided into control group and treatment group. The data was collected by quesioner test before and after the counseling Results: The knowledge difference about Jampersal in treatment and control group is count 14.94 with significant level 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Counselingwas increasing the mothers knowledge level about Mass Labor Assurance (Jampersal) programs. Keywords: counseling, knowledge, labor assurance

Abstract

Introduction: The differences of indication, procedures, and post delivered care between normal delivery and cesarean section are estimated to make a difference in service quality from patients perspective. This study aimed to compare service quality from patients perspective on normal delivery and cesarean section in PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital. Method: This research used an observational analytic study with cross sectional approach. Minimum respondents amount (n=100) were calculated based on Cohen, Manion, and Morrison table. Respondents were recruited from Annisa ward in PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital and only 97 respondents were participated and appropriated with restricion criteria during Desember 2015 until January 2016. Service quality from patients perspective measured by Quality Impact score (QI). Service quality from patients perspective as dependent variable and delivery methods as independent variable were analyzed using Mann Whitney. Result: There was no significance difference of service quality between normal delivery and cesarean section (p=0.064)based on Mann Whitney result. Conclusion: There was no significance difference of service quality between normal delivery and cesarean section in PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta Hospital. Abstract

Background: Sleep is an active, repetitive and reversible behaviour serving several different function, one of it is the function to develop memory s abbility. Lack of sleep is one of big problem faced by the modern society nowadays. In the big city like Jakarta, most of the adolescents have sleep disorder. This research intents to prove correlation between sleep quality and working memory capacity on student of Senior High School. Methods: This research was a cross-sectional analytic observational. The population sample was students in the 10th grade of 4 Surakarta Senior High School. By using purposive sampling method, the total restricted samples were 66 students. The instruments were Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, which is used to check the sleep quality scores, and Reading Span Test, to check the working memory capacity. Data was analyzed by Spearman Correlation test. Results: The respondents were 66 students, 33 students (50%) with bad sleep quality, 33 (50%) others were students with good sleep quality. The result showed high positive and significant correlation between sleep quality and working memory capacity (r = 0.814 and P = 0.000). Conclusions: There is high positive and significant statistic correlation between sleep quality and working memory capacity on students of senior high school. Abstract

Agus Sholikin G0009007, 2013. Validation Study of Body Mass Index and Waist to Hip Ratio to Fasting Glucose Rate on Aktivis Nusantara Scholarship Applicants 2012. Mini Thesis Medical Faculty of Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Background: Activist students have a little time available for physical exercise from too many activities could cause fat metabolism disorder which increase obesity potential. Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR) is an easy and cheap antropometry that can be a parameter of metabolic syndrome like hyperglicemia which is caused by obesity. This research aims to find the validity rate between BMI and WHR against Fasting Glucose Rate (FGR) on students who receive Aktivis Nusantara Scholarship 2012. Methods: This was an observational analitic study using cross sectional design. Samples were taken from all applicants of Aktivis Nusantara Scholarsip 2012 by using pure purposive sampling technique. Each subject was taken its BMI, WHR and blood samples to know the FGR after fasting for 10-12 hours. Datas were analyzed and tested with Pearson Correlation test by using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 17.0 for Windows. Results: The result of Pearson Correlation Test between BMI and FGR showed P > 0.05, P = 0.785; r = - 0.052. Meanwhile, WHCR and FGR showed P > 0.05, P = 0.874; r = 0.030. Conclusions: We can conclude from this research that WHCR has a higher validity rate than BMI against FGR. Key Word: activist students, validity, BMI, WHCR, FGR

Abstract

Background : Jamkesmas (Public Health Insurance) patients as the customers who used health care service in puskesmas need a high-quality health service to cure the diseases they suffer from and to generate satisfaction with the health service they receive from the personnel of puskesmas. As we know, puskesmas is one form of comprehensive health service organizations encompassing health promotion, prevention, curing and recovery aspects for all people so that the society will get a high-quality and affordable health service. The preliminary study shows that there is a relationship between health service quality and the satisfaction level of Jamkesmas (Public Health Insurance) patient. The higher the quality of health service, the higher is the satisfaction level received by the Jamkesmas patient. The bad health service given by the health service provider will decrease the satisfaction level of Jamkesmas patients. This study aimed to find out and to analyze the relationship between health service quality and the satisfaction level of Jamkesmas patients in Puskesmas Sedayu I of Bantul Regency. Methods : This study was an analytical observational research with cross-sectional approach. Thirty subjects of research selected using purposive quota sampling technique were the participants of Jamkesmas who had had them examined in Puskesmas Sedayu I of Bantul Regency and met the inclusion criteria. The data collection was carried out through direct interview with the patients using questionnaire. The data of research was analyzed using Chi Square test. Results : This study showed that the Quality of Health Service was related significantly to the Satisfaction Level of Jamkesmas Patient (p = 0.003). Conclusions : There was a statistically significant relationship between Health Service Quality and the Satisfaction Level of Jamkesmas patients of 52.80%. Abstract

Introduction: Railway noise is an unexpected noise caused by either the machine of the trains or the friction between the wheels and the railroads. Long lasting noise has a negative impact upon psychological condition, mental function, and the quality of ones life. The aim of this study was to know whether there was an impact of the railway noise upon the quality of life of the society living at the banks of railroads in Nusukan, Surakarta. Methods: This was an observational analytic research with a cross sectional study. This research was done in Nusukan neighborhood, Banjarsari subregency, Surakarta town, from October to November 2015. The subject of the research was the society living at the banks of the railroads in Nusukan for the minimum of 1 year, men, and between 20-59 years of age. The sample taking was done by using purposive sampling technique as many as 60 people consisting of 30 respondents exposed by the railway noise of > 55dB and 30 respondents exposed by the railway noise of ? 55dB. The measurement of the noise was done by using a sound level meter device. The measurement upon the quality of life was made by using questionnaire of Nottingham Health Profile (NHP). The data were analyzed with unpaired t test (? = 0.05). Result: The result of the unpaired t test showed the average score of the quality of life of the respondents exposed by the railway noise of > 55dB was significant lower than that of the respondents exposed by the railway noise of ? 55dB, with p = 0.000 (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Respondents exposed by the railway noise of less than or as much as the threshold value (? 55dB) had better average quality of life than the respondent exposed by the railway noise which was higher than the threshold value (> 55dB). Abstract

Background: Physical activity affects brain structure and function through 3 common mechanisms: angiogenesis; neurogenesis; and regulation of neurotrophic factors. Working memory capacity is one aspect of brain function describing human intelligent which is affected by the structure and function of the brain. The aim of research was to prove that physical activity could affect working memory capacity. Methods: This research was a cross-sectional observational analytic. It had been done at Medical Faculty of Sebelas Maret University on July, 2014. The data was collected by using purposive sampling method. All responden had to fill questionnaire of Lie Scale Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI) in order to know the honesty level, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to measure the level of physical activity during a week and reading span test to measure working memory capacity. The final result of restricted samples was 105. The data was analyzed by Spearman Correlation Test. Results: IPAQ score showed that 15.24% samples were in low level physical activity, 50.47% were in medium level physical activity, and 34.29% were in high level physical activity. Reading span test result were 93.33% samples were in high working memory capacity and the other 6.67% were in low working memory capacity. Both variables then examined by Spearman correlation test with p result 0.441 and r = -0.076 Conclusions: There is unsignificant statistic correlation between physical activity and working memory capacity on Medical Student of Sebelas Maret University Keywords: physical activity, working memory capacity, medical student
