Abstract

Background: The population of elders is gradually increasing. The United Nation stated that the elders population is increasing around 77,37% during 2005 till 2025 and Indonesia is the country which is contribute to the high number of its percentage. Depression is a psychiatric disorder that most commonly occurs to the elders. The place where they are living is one factor that may lead to the depression. Some elders are residing in the home with his family and some others are residing within a nursing house. This study is aimed to determine the differences in rates of depression between the elders who living with a family in Diro Village and elders who staying in Tresna Werdha Nursing House the unit of Budi Luhur, Yogyakarta. The study is expected to provide useful input to family members and nursing staff about the psychological condition of the elders. Methods: This study was observational analytic cross-sectional approach. The subjects were elders in Diro village and Tresna Werdha Nursing House the unit of Budi Luhur, Yogyakarta that met the inclusion criteria and were willing to answer the questionnaire study. Depression scores measured using the GDS-SF. Sampling is done by simple random sampling. Data obtained in a total of 35 samples in Diro Village and 35 samples in Tresna Wredha Nursing House the unit of Budi Luhur, Yogyakarta. Samples were then analyzed by unpaired t test using Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) 17.0 for Window. Results: Data differences in rates of depression between elders living with a family in Diro Village and those living in Tresna Werdha Nursing House the unit of Budi Luhur, Yogyakarta tested by unpaired t test, it was found p = 0,028 (p < 0,05). Conclusions: There were significant differences between the rates of depression in elders living with a family in the Diro Village and Tresna Werdha Nursing House the unit of Budi Luhur, Yogyakarta with p = 0,028 (p < 0,05). Abstract

Background: Treatment adherence is a important factor for the recovery of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Many factors affect treatment adherence of pulmonary TB patients, one of which is a side effect of anti tuberculosis drugs. This study aims to analyze the influence of the side effects of anti tuberculosis drugs to the tuberculosis treatment adherence in BBKPM Surakarta. Method: This study was observational analytic with cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted in June – July 2012 in BBKPM Surakarta. A total of 48 subjects were selected by purposive sampling method and pulmonary TB patients who have been selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data retrieval is done by looking at the patient’s medical records and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square analysis method, with SPSS 17.00 for Windows. Result: Data were analyzed with Chi-Square test with a significance level of 0,05 and freedom degrees of 1. Obtained p value of 0.044, which means there is influence of the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs to the tuberculosis treatment adherence in BBKPM         Surakarta. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is influence of the side effects of anti tuberculosis drugs to the tuberculosis treatment adherence in Surakarta BBKPM. Abstract

Background: Industrialization nowadays is a major source of anxiety among shift workers men and non shift workers men. The aim of this research is to acknowledge the anxiety level differences between shift workers men and non shift workers men. Methods: This study is an observational analytic cross sectional approach. The research sample was 20 men who are working during shift hours and 20 men who are working during non shift hours. The research instrument was used for L-scale of the MMPI and TMAS. Data analyzed by t test. Results: The results showed an average score of TMAS in shift workers men: 28,5 while in non shift workers men: 28,7. This data is not significant with slightly differences: (t: 0,079, p: 0,937). Conclusions: Researchers conclude there are no differences in anxiety level among men who are working during shift hours and non shift hours. Abstract

Background : The level of formal education an active family planning acceptors are factors that may influence the attitudes and behavior of people to use an independence  KB. By knowing the factors that affect a persons use of family planning will be able to improve the coverage of family planning more widely. This study aimed to determine whether there is a relationship between the level of formal education with self-reliance active family planning acceptors of family planning in Subdistrict Sukoharjo District Sukoharjo. Methods : This study is observational with case control conducted in October-November 2012 on 100 samples of family planning acceptors active in Subdistrict Sukoharjo District Sukoharjo. Sampling technique in this study using current Simple Random Sampling. Taking data from the sample using a questionnaire containing variable levels of education and independence KB. Data analysis using odd ratio with univariate and bivariate analyzes. Results : Statistical test result value of odd ratio test are OR = 10,120, 95% CI = 3,062 – 33,450, p = 0,000. Value of p <0.05 means that the significance level of 5% or 95% level of confidence is significant relationship between the two variables. Conclusion : From this study it was concluded that the higher levels of formal education an active family planning acceptors, the greater the tendency to carry out family planning independently. Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a health problem in Indonesia, which has been the potential to be the cause of epidemic, because of its widespread distribution from year to year. One of the factors considered to influence the incidence of DHF is the condition of water container, which includes the type of landfill, landfill color, and size of the landfill. However, these factors are limited studied in the laboratory and still little information gained from field research until now. This study aimed to investigate the association between type of water container and the occurance of DHF in the city of Surakarta. Methods: This study was an observational study particularly a matched case-control design. It was conducted from June to October 2012 at five health centers located in the city of Surakarta. The total sample size was 68 subjects (34 subjects as cases with DHF, and 34 other subjects as free-DHF controls). Data were analyzed using McNemar test. Results: The study found a stastical significant relationship between the type of water container and DHF occurance with odds ratio of 7.5 (p= 0.001; CI 95% 1.715-32.79). Conclusion: There is a stastical significant association between the occurance of DHF and type of water container in the city of Surakarta. The use of non-cheramik type water container, increases a persons risk for DHF at 7.5 times higher. Keywords: DHF, type of water container, color of water container

Abstract

Background: Irritant contact dermatitis is the most common form of occupational skin disease, accounting for up to 80% of all occupational skin disorders. Atopic history and work period are risk factors for irritant contact dermatitis. This study aimed to analyze the relation of atopic history and work period with the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis on motorcycle wash workers at District of Jebres in Surakarta. Method: This study was observational analytics with cross sectional approach. Subjects were male who worked in motorcycle wash at District of Jebres in Surakarta. Samples were 60 workers. This samples were taken by fixed disease purposive sampling. Data  were collected by questionaire and digital autograph, then analyzed by multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS 17.0 for windows. Result: The results of atopic history analysis showed that there was a positive relationship between atopic history and the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis. Motorcycle wash workers who had atopic history would increase the risk to get irritant contact dermatitis 8.44 times than  workers who hadn’t atopic history (OR = 8.44; CI 95% 2.203 s/d 32.341). The results from analysis variable of work period showed significant relationship between work period and the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis. The worker who had worked ≥ 3 years had a greater risk 4.91 times than  workers who had worked < 3 years (OR = 4.91; CI 95% 1.365 s/d 17.675). Conclusion : There was a positive relationship between atopic history and work period with the incidence of irritant contact dermatitis on motorcycle wash workers at District of Jebres in Surakarta. The motorcycle wash workers who had atopic history and had worked ≥ 3 years would increase the risk of irritant contact dermatitis. Abstract

Objective:To determinethe influence of dysmenorrhea counseling towards SMA Muhammadyah 1 Surakarta’s female student’s knowledge and handling behaviour toward dysmenorrhea Background:Dysmenorrhea was the most frequent menstrual problem, but women still lack of consideration towards this symptom so that the handling of this symptom was still not enough.Women need to know that the handling of this symptom is depend on knowledge about this symptom causation. Methods:Samples, SMA Muhammadyah 1 Surakarta’s female students’ school year of 2011/2012. The number of sample: 53 female students. Sampling technique: purposive random sampling. Before the counseling began, a pretest was held to meassured students knowledge about dysmenorrhea and their handling behaviour to reduce  pain they had felt. After pretest, the counseling about dysmenorrhea; the differences between primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea; and the management they should do towards certain condition was given. After that, there were question session, quiz session, and tutorial discussion session. Then, they received a post test to meassure wether if there were any level of knowledge and handling behaviour differences between after and before the counseling. Then the data was analyzed using  paired T test. Results: The result using paired T test showed that the number of significance are 0.00 <0,05 so that it was significance. Level of knowledge before the counseling is lower than after the counseling. The handling behaviours towards dysmenorrhea before and after counseling are also different.The resultshowed that,after the counseling, the number of handling behaviour’s preferences which were warming lower abdominal part, seeking for medical help, and consuming vegetables and fruits were increased. On the other side, the number of handling behaviour’s preferences which were consuming herbal medicine and AINSD (Anti Inflammation Non Steroid Drugs) were decreased. Conclusion:Counseling about dysmenorrhea could influence student’s level of knowledge and handling behavior towards dysmenorrhea   Key words:Counseling, level of knowledge, handling behaviour, dysmenorrhea

Abstract

Background: Online games addiction experienced by vulnerable adolescents, especially in early adolescence. In the early teens, they tend to follow what was done by their peers to get an admission in a group. Addiction online games have negative consequences such as lack of sleep, anxiety, apathy correlated to decreased academic achievement. This study aimed to determine the relationship between addiction online games with the level of learning achievement in early adolescence. Methods: this study was a descriptive analytic cross-sectional study approach (cross-sectional) are held from May to July 2012 in the Junior High School 20 Surakarta. Total of 60 subjects sampled by simple random sampling method. Junior High School 20 students Surakarta eighth grade were asked to fill Youngs Diagnostic Questionnaire (YDQ) Lie Scale and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-L). Data were analyzed using independent t test and χ2 test. Results: Based on the results obtained from the 31 students who have addiction online games, 26 students have poor academic achievement and 5 students have a good learning achievement. Statistical analysis demonstrated an association between internet addiction with learning achievement levels in the Junior High School 20 Surakarta (p = 0.000). Conclusions: There is a relationship between addiction online games with the level of student achievement in the Junior High School 20 Surakarta. Abstract

Background: Anxiety is a part of life; it is a normal phenomenon as long as not disturbing the human activity. The anxiety disorder of the students usually is an anxiety due to a frustration, i.e. everything which is disturbing individual’s ability to achieve their target with a lot of dependants. Religiosity consist of knowledge of religion, religious believes, religious ritual experience, religious experience, religious behavior (morality) and a religiosity social attitudes. With a high religiosity, the life will become more relaxed and peaceful; this is due to the appreciation and behavior that surrender to Allah SWT.   Methods: The method that used for the study is an Observational Analytic method with a cross sectional approach.  The subject of the study is a Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta’s Moslem student, class of 2011, which involved 150 students as participants.  The instruments that used for measurement were L-MMPI Questionnaire, Religiosity Scale and T-MAS Scale which are finally analyzed using Spearman Correlation Test.   Results: This study found that there is a negative correlation (inverse relationship), between religiosity level and anxiety, with a weak strengthness (r=-0.29) and statistically significant (p=0.040). Conclusions: Based on the study, there is a negative correlation (inverse relationship), between The Religiosity Level towards Anxiety of Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta’s  Moslem Students Class of 2011. Abstract

Agus Sholikin G0009007, 2013. Validation Study of Body Mass Index and Waist to Hip Ratio to Fasting Glucose Rate on Aktivis Nusantara Scholarship Applicants 2012. Mini Thesis Medical Faculty of Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Background: Activist students have a little time available for physical exercise from too many activities could cause fat metabolism disorder which increase obesity potential. Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR) is an easy and cheap antropometry that can be a parameter of metabolic syndrome like hyperglicemia which is caused by obesity. This research aims to find the validity rate between BMI and WHR against Fasting Glucose Rate (FGR) on students who receive Aktivis Nusantara Scholarship 2012. Methods: This was an observational analitic study using cross sectional design. Samples were taken from all applicants of Aktivis Nusantara Scholarsip 2012 by using pure purposive sampling technique. Each subject was taken its BMI, WHR and blood samples to know the FGR after fasting for 10-12 hours. Datas were analyzed and tested with Pearson Correlation test by using  Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) 17.0 for Windows. Results: The result of Pearson Correlation Test between BMI and FGR showed P > 0.05, P = 0.785; r = - 0.052. Meanwhile, WHCR and FGR showed P > 0.05, P = 0.874; r = 0.030. Conclusions: We can conclude from this research that WHCR has a higher validity rate than BMI against FGR. Key Word: activist students, validity, BMI, WHCR, FGR
