Abstract

Language can perpetuate gender bias. The formulation of language in media coverage also strengthens, soothes, even injustices against women in society, including actresses. The purpose of this research is to find and describe the variety of gender bias language in the reporting of post-divorce actresses. This research includes a qualitative descriptive study. The data source for this research is media coverage which is limited to news about post-divorce actresses. The data taken is in the form of gender biased news titles and contents. In collecting data using the read-read method, supported by orthographic techniques. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using constructivism analysis in sociolinguistics. The results of this study indicate that there are still media that place divorced actresses as news objects that are sexy and gender biased. The variety of language gender bias appears in the form of diction, phrases and sentences. These various forms of language can position women as sexual objects, such as various metaphors that refer to women's bodies, diction and sentences that point to the meaning that women are the cause of household breakdown, as well as various languages ​​in the form of labeling women or stigmatization.

Abstract

The existence of social media such as TikTok opens up opportunities for people to express themselves freely. This freedom demands creativity in expression, among others by using a sarcastic language style. This study aims to examine the use of satire language style used by Tiktoker Rian Fahardhi in his video using Keraf's Language Style theory. This research uses descriptive research to describe the sarcastic language style used by Rian Fahardhi in TikTok videos. The data collection technique used is the listening method with note taking technique. The data analysis technique used in this research is content analysis technique. The results showed that Rian Fahardhi used 19 satire language styles consisting of 4 irony language styles, 6 cynicism language styles, and 9 sarcasm language styles. Satire is not only used to convey criticism and aspirations, but it can also be implemented for readers and listeners of language in various types of literary works and outside literature. By using satire, readers or listeners can pay attention to the words used more carefully in writing or speech. So that it can increase understanding and appreciation of the beauty of language and can strengthen the message to be conveyed.

Abstract

Lack of understanding of the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI) has an impact on many linguistic errors. For example, in the context of scientific writing written by students, teachers, lecturers or official letters written by an agency both government and private. Based on these problems, this research aims to review existing language applications and develop a user-friendly and effective language checker application called Cekata. The research and development (R&D) method was used in this research. It starts with literature study and data collection to find out the dominance of language errors from various linguistic levels. Then continued with development and testing. Application development is done through prototyping applications such as Adobe XD and development through Android Studio. This research produces an application that is feasible to use for checking errors in writing as well as the initial response of potential users of this application. The response results are as follows: 1) Appearance 87% 2) Main Features 90% 3) User Efficiency 90%.

Abstract

The background of this research is to know and describe the character values ​​of interest in reading and digital literacy abilities of junior high school students. Character education for fond of reading is education that raises students' awareness to carry out reading activities by seeking information from various sources, including digital. This research aims to analyze and describe the character of reading and digital literacy skills of students. This research method uses a descriptive approach with a quantitative method by assessing the character of liking to read and digital literacy skills with a total of 150 student respondents. Data obtained with a questionnaire instrument. The written questionnaire instrument consists of 10 questions for characters who like to read and 10 questions for digital literacy skills using the Guttman scale. Data analysis techniques with descriptive statistics. The results showed that the character value of interest in reading from the six classes obtained an average proportion value of 75.05% in the good category. Meanwhile, the digital literacy abilities of the six classes obtained an average proportion score of 83.09% in the very good category. This shows that the reading character value has a positive relationship to the value of students' digital abilities.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate how the application of differentiated process learning through students learning styles is implemented in the material of writing observation report texts. In order to determine this, the research was carried out using a descriptive qualitative method and a literature review analysis so that this study is able to holistically describe various perspectives. The researcher collected data by analyzing diagnostic test results, observations, interviews, and learning product analysis. Based on the diagnostic test analysis, there were three student learning style preferences, namely (1) visual, (2) auditory, and (3) kinesthetic. In the implementation of differentiated process learning, teachers provide different learning stimuli according to the students need. Students with visual learning styles are given stimuli through posters and power point slide shows, auditory learners are given stimuli by listening to the material provided by the teacher as well as students taking turns as speakers (peer tutors and discussions), and kinesthetic learners are given stimuli by arranging puzzles and creating mind maps. The teacher's stimuli based on students learning styles make learning more enjoyable, encourage active student involvement, and foster creativity in students, allowing them to absorb knowledge information to the fullest and develop their innate potential.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the naming of business places in South Tangerang. The theory used in analyzing naming is Chaer's theory (2009). This study uses a qualitative research model. The data collection process carried out in this study used the documentation method, followed by the observing and noting method. The data in this study are presented in a descriptive form or informal method. Based on the results of this study it was found that from 35 data on the naming of business places in South Tangerang, there were grammatical, lexical, and connotative meanings. In addition, the naming process that occurs in 35 data on the naming of business premises in South Tangerang, produces 23 data based on inventors or makers, 2 data based on characteristics, 4 data based on new names, 2 data based on place of origin, 1 data based on material, 1 data based on owner and shortening, 1 data based on new naming and owner, 1 data based on uniqueness and new naming. So, it can be concluded that the naming of business places in South Tangerang is dominated by the process of the inventor or maker because most of the business places use the name of the owner or maker.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini berfokus pada penyelidikan absurditas yang tergambarkan pada cerita rakyat daerah Jawa Timur yang disusun oleh Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan. Peneliti bertujuan untuk mengungkap gejala dan solusi dalam menghadapi absurditas. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep absurditas berdasarkan pemikiran dari Albert Camus seperti yang digambarkan dalam mitos Sisifus. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah kumpulan cerita rakyat daerah Jawa Timur yang disusun oleh Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Tim Proyek Penelitian dan Pencatatan Kebudayaan Daerah) pada tahun 1978. Sedangkan, dalam teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan studi Pustaka.  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat 3 dari 18 cerita rakyat yang mengandung absurditas, diantaranya adalah “Dongeng Tentang Burung Gagak”, “Asal Mula Ayam Hutan”, dan “Asal Mula Pohon Jati Besar”. Setelah Peneliti melakukan analisis data ditemukan terdapat gejala-gejala absurditas dalam cerita tersebut. Gejala-gejala absurditas ini disebabkan oleh ketidakmampuan dan konfrontasi tokoh cerita akan situasinya. Situasi yang berbeda dengan pencarian maknanya membuat absurd dalam tokoh tersebut. Solusi dalam menghadapi absurditas juga ditemukan oleh Peneliti. Dari 3 cerita rakyat yang mengandung unsur absurditas itu, Peneliti lebih banyak menemukan solusi suicide untuk menghadapi absurditas, sedangkan solusi yang valid adalah pemberontakan dan menciptakan makna itu sendiri hanya ditemukan dalam 1 cerita rakyat saja.

Abstract

The commotion after Arema FC's match against Persebaya at Malang's Kanjuruhan Stadium caused many victims. This has attracted the attention of various parties. In this regard, this study aims to analyze the structure of the text, social cognition, and social context in Mata Najwa's episode of the Kanjuruhan tragedy. This research includes a qualitative descriptive study using Youtube videos as a data source. Data collection techniques used are documentation, observe, and record. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research results found in Mata Najwa's Kanjuruhan tragedy episode through Teun van Dijk's critical discourse analysis, namely in the text dimension found micro-structural elements indicating the main problem, namely the chronology of the Kanjuruhan tragedy incident. The analysis of social cognition produces the most dominant scheme, namely the event scheme. There are two discourses that are emphasized in social cognition, namely the justification related to tear gas and the chaos that occurred due to fans taking to the field. This research has implications in the social context that can help identify injustices contained in the language and discourse used by groups in power.

Abstract

This research aims to update the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) which prioritizes research to improve the 6C (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, Compassion, and Computational Thinking) skills of students in the Indonesian Language Course. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data was collected through a review of existing RPS and interviews with Indonesian language lecturers. The results of the study of RPS indicated that the development of 6C skills in students had not been optimal in the existing RPS. Improvement of RPS includes learning strategies that encourage communication, collaboration, creative expression of ideas, and the application of computational thinking in the use of technology. The updated RPS is implemented in teaching Indonesian. Positive responses were received from students who were involved, showing a good response to a more active and collaborative learning approach. The results of this study confirm that improving RPS based on research is effective in improving students' 6C skills in the context of Indonesian Language Courses. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of developing RPS that supports the mastery of 6C skills in order to prepare students to face the increasingly complex and dynamic requirements of the world of work.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to find out the form and impact of using code switching and code mixing on SMPN 1 Peukan Pidie students through the bilingual teaching classroom approach. The method used is qualitative method. The data source is the teacher at SMPN 1 Peukan Pidie. The data in this study are code switching and code mixing. Data collection techniques using observation, interview and recording techniques. Data analysis techniques in this study are, (1) looking back at the results of observations and looking back at the results of interviews that have been conducted, (2) playing back the recording results, (3) identifying formulating, classifying, and describing usage data. The results of this study can be concluded that SMPN 1 Peukan Pidie school applies a bilingual teaching classroom approach. Here the teacher uses local language as the bilingual foundation. The impact of using code switching and code mixing on students of SMPN 1 Peukan Pidie through the bilingual teaching classroom approach is that it makes it easier for students to understand the material, shows self-identity, can change the atmosphere to be relaxed and become closer to students both in class and outside the classroom.
