Abstract

Microbial growth and various fertnentation processe5in th~ rumen require an adequate supply of minerals. An experiment was conducted to determine rumen fluid characteristics from 20 goats of local breed. ~ f They were randomly allocated into 4 treatments in a Randomized Block Design with 5 replication. Treatments were: A =forages (natural grasses, gIiricidia and leucaena) and concentrate (rice brand, com graL,,\ and coconut meal) ; B =ration A+Ca+P ; C =ration A+Ca+P+Mg and D = ration A+Ca+P+S. Ration between forages and concentrates is 60 : 40 with TDN 53.94% and CP 13.87%. The result showed that there were no effect of mineral! 1 Ca, P, Mg and S supplementation on the characteristics of the rumen fluid except for VFA even though it was still on the optimum condition for microbial growth. In conclusion, supplementation of Ca, P, and S was the best I among the treatments.

Abstract

The area development to be animal husbandry area should be directed in the increasing of natural resources using efficiency, and environment preservation. In this case, its development is done with use and manage natural resources in the form of land, livestock, and livestock woof, with other production factors in the form ofemployee and working capital. Local animal husbandry is genetic resources which have high potency to be used as prime seed forming source or other sources which are used to community necessity example meat production. West-South East Maluku Regency is the regency for livestock development in Maluku. A number ofruminant livestock populations in MTB regency are 40.215 ST, in detail, beef cattles are 5.392 ST, buffalo are 21.511 ST, goats are 11.376 ST, and sheeps are 1.936 ST. One offactors to determine animal husbandry development success in Maluku especially in MTB Regency is availability of woof resources and wastes for livestock. Dry material production total (ton BK) offood plant wastes in MTB Regency is 62855 ton, it is alternative woof source which is given for livestock besides of natural grass. If food plant intensification increases, so food plant waste production will be high. Corn strllW is food plant waste which has high support power that is 21530 ST or about 78 percent, it is compared with otherfood plant wastes in MTB Regency.

Abstract

Meat is one of the most important foods to meet the needs of the human protein. Therefore, the meat should be safe and healthy for consumption and free of contaminants that can cause illnesses such as the contamination of heavy metals residues and pesticide residues. This study aims to determine the residual content of heavy metals (Pb, Cd and Hg) and organophosphate (OP) pesticide residues on the meat, liver and kidney. Random sampling was done on a population of livestock owners that slaughtered atSlaughterhouse Pekanbaru city. For evaluation, five livestock owners were sampling randomly to analysis. Sample used for analysis were the meat samples of bicep femoris (BF), liver and kidney. The variables observed in this study were the residues heavy metals (Pb, Cd and Hg) and organophosphate (OP) pesticide residues. Results showed that heavy metal contamination of residues in meat, liver and kidney beef were under the maximum allowed according to SNI. The respective heavy metal contamination was Pb (0,00-0,92 ppm), Cd (0,00-0,60 ppm) and Hg (0,00-0,03 ppm), while the organophosphate pesticide residues were less than 0005 ppm or below the maximum limit set by Indonesian National Standard (ISN) 7313: 2008 on limit maximum pesticide residues in agricultural products. In conclusion, the meat, liver and kidneys of cattle distributed traditionally at the market in Pekanbaru city had contamination levels of heavy metals (Pb, Cd and Hg) and pesticide residues organophosphate which were under maximum conditions specified

Abstract

The development of livestock potential is expected to reduce of production and market unbalances. The nature ofRiau Province, requires effective and efficient planning in supporting the market of livestock commodities inter-regions.Knowing patterns of marketing of livestock commodities inter-regions able to increase added value of commodities. Thepurposes this research are: 1) to analyze the flow of livestock commodities marketing inter-region in Riau Province, 2) todetermine the direction of livestock commodities development based commodities marketing. This research was conducted inRiau Province with eleven districts and cities. This study used a model analysis of gravity and entropy models with doubleconstrains. The result showed the distance between regions determine interaction inter-region. The flow of cattle marketing isinfluenced by farmers productivity of origin region. Cattle’s production region is directed to Indragiri Hulu, Kampar, RokanHulu and Kuantan Singingi and marketing region to Siak, Bengkalis and Rokan Hilir. The flow of buffalo commoditiesmarketing is more determined by slaughtering in destination region. Buffalo’s production is directed to Kampar and KuantanSingingi and marketing to Pekanbaru, Siak, Dumai and Rokan Hilir. The main factors that determine the flow of broilermarketing is population in origin region and consumption of broiler in destination region. Development of Broiler’sproduction region is directed to Pekanbaru, Kampar, Pelalawan, dan Siak, and marketing region to Bengkalis, Dumai,Indragiri Hilir, and Rokan Hilir. The flow of cattle and buffalo commodities market moves from south to north and Broilermoves from region who were in middle to around it.

Abstract

Milk as liquid food has a high nutrient content like protein, fat, vitamin, mineral and other substances that needed human body. Total production of fresh milk in UPT Ruminansia Besar Dinas Peternakan in KamparRegency is about 5 -6 liter per day. However, there isn't information about the quality of fresh milk yet. The objective of this research was to determine the quality of fresh milk in terms of nutritional value, pH, sensory properties (taste, aroma and colour) and mastitis test. Results of the research showed that the nutrient content of fresh milk was 92,35 % .±. 0,11 moisture, 1,6 % .±. 0,37 fat, 3,87 % .±. 0,99 crude protein, 0,91 %± 0,01 ash, pH value was 6,85 .±.0,Q4. Sensory evaluation from 15 untrained panelist showed that normal taste (3,9), milky aroma (3,8) and white in colour (3,4). Subclinic mastitis test indicated that the total of leukocyte in fresh milk was in trace (I) criteria. Most of these parameters matched to the Indonesian quality standard SNI 01-3141-1998 about quality standard of fresh milk except fat.
