Abstract

Linear algebra is an area of mathematics that is widely considered challenging. One of the subjects covered is the system of linear equations in two variables. During their first year of college, Pre-Service Teachers (PST) study this subject using increasingly sophisticated approaches and theories. The objective of this qualitative study is to classify and describe the Mathematical Thinking Trajectories (MTT) of PST in solving a system of linear equations in two variables problems. Thirty-three PST majoring in mathematics education who enrolled in the Errors and Misconceptions in Mathematics course participated in this study, which used written answers as research data. The Three Worlds of Mathematics theory framework is used in this study. Seven MTT classifications were identified by the research findings: (1) embodied, (2) symbolic, (3) embodied-symbolic, (4) symbolic-embodied, (5) formal, (6) embodied-symbolic-embodied, and (7) symbolic-embodied-symbolic. “Embodied” refers to how PST applies mathematical ideas that focus on actual objects, “symbolic” focuses on symbols, operations, and their properties, and “formal” focuses on definitions, theorems, and logical procedures. In learning practices, the results of this study can be applied to create learning that is meaningful and that fosters the growth of algebraic thinking abilities.

Abstract

In Indonesia, there exists a significant gap in mathematical proficiency levels among students, evidenced by declining achievement rates over time and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as revealed by recent studies and assessments such as PISA 2022. This research aims to develop an enrichment book in the topic of rational numbers that can enhance the mathematical proficiency level of junior high school students. This research uses the R&D approach which adopts the ADDIE model. The research instruments used in this study include validation sheets for subject matter expert, validation sheets for graphic expert, response questionnaire for teacher, pretest sheets, and posttest sheets. After the initial draft of the enrichment book was produced, the research continued with validating the book by a subject matter expert, a graphic expert, and a mathematics teacher . In the implementation phase, the validated and revised book was then tested on 29 seventh-grade students at Al Falah Junior High School, located in Dago region, Bandung city. Descriptively, the average score of students' pretest was 32.6%, while the average score of their posttest was 75.2%. The enrichment book has been shown to improve students’ scores significantly according to the N-gain, meaning that it significantly enhances students' mathematical proficiency level. Based on the established categories, these results indicate that the developed enrichment book can enhance students' mathematical proficiency level. Di Indonesia, terdapat kesenjangan signifikan dalam tingkat kecakapan matematis siswa, yang diperparah oleh pandemi COVID-19, seperti yang dibuktikan oleh penurunan tingkat prestasi dari waktu ke waktu dan penilaian terbaru seperti PISA 2022. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku pengayaan pada materi bilangan rasional yang dapat meningkatkan level kecakapan matematis untuk siswa SMP/MTs. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan dengan model ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi lembar validasi ahli materi, lembar validasi ahli kegrafikaan, angket respons untuk guru, lembar tes awal, dan lembar tes akhir. Setelah dihasilkan draf awal buku pengayaan, kegiatan penelitian dilanjutkan dengan memvalidasi buku pengayaan oleh ahli materi dan kegrafikaan. Pada tahap implementasi, buku yang telah divalidasi dan direvisi kemudian diujicobakan kepada 29 orang siswa kelas VII di SMP Al Falah yang terletak di wilayah Dago, Kota Bandung. Secara deskriptif, rata-rata nilai tes awal siswa adalah 32,6%, sedangkan rata-rata nilai tes akhir siswa adalah 75,2%. Perhitungan N-gain memberikan kesimpulan bahwa buku pengayaan dinyatakan efektif dalam meningkatkan kecakapan matematis siswa secara signifikan. Berdasarkan kategori yang ditetapkan, hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa buku pengayaan yang dikembangkan ini dapat meningkatkan level kecakapan matematis siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and effective Al-Qur'an-based mathematics learning design to be used as a choice of teaching materials for educators. The method used is the research and development method according to Borg and Gall, with the steps contained in this study: 1) Potential and Problems; 2) Data Collection; 3) Product Design; and 4) Product Validation and Trial. The study was conducted on three junior high schools with high, medium, and low levels. Each school was taken one class to be tested.  The results showed: This learning is different from ordinary mathematics learning, because it will increase understanding of the verses of the Qur'an that contain mathematical concepts. Based on the results of the product validation test (RPP, learning books, and LKPD) obtaining a percentage score above 76 and being included in the very feasible category, the product is valid. The student's response to the product gets a percentage score of ≥ 60, which is included in the positive category; the product can be said to be practical. While the effectiveness of learning is assessed from the activities of students with a very good category, namely the percentage value ≥ 90, and the learning outcomes of students individually and classically get good results, So it can be concluded that the learning design developed is effective to use.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan desain pembelajaran matematika berbasis Al-Qur'an yang valid dan efektif untuk digunakan sebagai pilihan bahan ajar bagi tenaga pendidik. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan menurut Borg and Gall, dengan langkah-langkah yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini: 1) Potensi dan Permasalahan; 2) Pengumpulan Data; 3) Desain Produk; dan 4) Validasi dan Uji Coba Produk. Penelitian dilakukan pada tiga sekolah menengah pertama dengan tingkat tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Setiap sekolah diambil satu kelas untuk diuji.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: Pembelajaran ini berbeda dengan pembelajaran matematika biasa, karena akan meningkatkan pemahaman ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an yang memuat konsep-konsep matematika. Berdasarkan hasil uji validasi produk (RPP, buku pembelajaran, dan LKPD) memperoleh skor persentase di atas 76 dan masuk dalam kategori sangat layak, produk tersebut valid. Respon siswa terhadap produk mendapatkan skor persentase ≥ 60, yang termasuk dalam kategori positif; Produk tersebut bisa dikatakan praktis. Sedangkan efektivitas pembelajaran dinilai dari aktivitas siswa dengan kategori sangat baik yaitu nilai persentase ≥ 90, dan hasil belajar siswa secara individu dan klasik mendapatkan hasil yang baik, Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa desain pembelajaran yang dikembangkan efektif untuk digunakan.

Abstract

 Abstrak Kemampuan literasi matematis ialah kemampuan merumuskan dan menafsirkan serta menekan penalaran sistematis siswa dalam menerapkan konsep, prosedur, fakta, sebagai alat dalam mendeskribsikan sebuah permasalahan atau fenomena. Pentingnya literasi matematis‚ maka pembelajaran matematika memerlukan strategi yang mampu mengembangkan kemampuan literasi matematis, yaitu model Problem Based Instruction (PBI). Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) Mengetahui perbedaan tingkat kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran PBI dan model pembelajaran langsung; (2) Mengetahui besarnya pengaruh model pembelajaran PBI terhadap kemampuan literasi matematis siswa; (3) Mengetahui respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika menggunakan model pembelajaran PBI. Jenis penelitian ini yaitu quasi eksperimental design dengan desain penelitian nonequivalent control group design. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu teknik tes berupa uraian soal kemampuan literasi matematis serta angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji t dua sampel, uji effect size dan uji persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Adanya perbedaan tingkat kemampuan literasi matematis siswa antara menggunakan model pembelajaran PBI dengan model pembelajaran langsung; (2) Model pembelajaran PBI berpengaruh besar terhadap kemampuan literasi matematis siswa; dan (3) Respon siswa positif terhadap pembelajaran matematika menggunakan model pembelajaran PBI. Dengan demikian diharapkan model pembelajaran PBI dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran matematika untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis siswa.Kata kunci: Kemampuan literasi matematis; Model pembelajaran; Problem Based Instruction.Abstract Mathematical literacy is the ability to formulate and interpret and suppress students systematic reasoning in applying consepts, procedures, fact, as a tool to describe a phenomena or event. The importance of this ability‚ mathematics learning requires strategies that can develop mathematical literacy skills, one of which is Problem Based Instruction (PBI). The purpose of this study aims to: (1) Konowing the difference in the level of students mathematical literacy skills  using the PBI  learning model and direct learning; (2) Knowing the effect of PBI learning model on students mathematical literacy skills; and (3) Knowing students responses to mathematics learning using using PBI learning model. This type of research is a quasy-eksperimental design with a research design of nonequivalent control group design. The data collection technique used a technique in the form of a description of mathematical literacy skills and non-test in the form of a student response questionnaire. Data analysis technique used two-sample t test, effect size test, and percentage test. The result showed that: (1) There is a difference in the level of students mathematical literacy skills between between using the PBI learning model and direct learning; (2) PBI learning model has a major effect on students mathematical literacy skills and; (3) Students responses are positive towards learning mathematic using PBI learning model. Thus, it is expected that the PBI learning model can be applied in mathematics learning to develop improve mathematical literacy skills. Keywords:Mathematical literacy skills; Learning Model; Problem Based Instruction.

Abstract

The urgency of this research is due to the limited learning resources that support the development of creative thinking in mathematics, which is an essential skill in the 21st century. This research aims to develop an interactive E-LKPD based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) that is valid, practical and effective in facilitating creative mathematical thinking skills in junior high school students.. The method used is research and development (R&D) by applying the 4-D model which includes the stages of defining, designing (design), development, and dissemination. The resulting product was tested for validity by a team of material and design experts with an average score of 3.28, and its practicality and effectiveness were assessed through student and teacher responses with an average total practical score of 3.5. Evaluation of improving mathematical creative thinking abilities using PjBL-based E-LKPD shows an average score of 80.86, which is included in the very high category with a completeness level reaching 89.65%. Thus, the PjBL-based E-LKPD is suitable for use because it meets the criteria of being valid, practical and effective. The implication of this research is the need for further development of the model used to produce products that are higher quality and more effective in supporting the creative mathematical learning process.Urgensi penelitian ini dikarenakan masih terbatasnya sumber belajar yang mendukung pengembangan berpikir kreatif dalam matematika, yang merupakan keterampilan esensial di abad 21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan E-LKPD interaktif berbasis Project Based Learning (PjBL) yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam memfasilitasi kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis pada siswa SMP. Metode yang digunakan adalah research and development (R&D) dengan mengaplikasikan model 4-D yang meliputi tahapan pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), pengembangan (develop), dan penyebaran (disseminate). Produk yang dihasilkan diuji melalui validitas oleh tim ahli materi dan desain dengan skor rata-rata 3,28, serta kepraktisan dan keefektivannya yang dinilai melalui respon peserta didik dan guru dengan rata-rata total nilai praktis 3,5. Evaluasi peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis menggunakan E-LKPD berbasis PjBL menunjukkan skor rata-rata 80,86, yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat tinggi dengan tingkat ketuntasan mencapai 89,65%. Dengan demikian, E-LKPD berbasis PjBL layak digunakan karena telah memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya pengembangan lebih lanjut pada model yang digunakan untuk menghasilkan produk yang lebih berkualitas tinggi dan efektif dalam mendukung proses pembelajaran kreatif matematis.

Abstract

Kebanyakan guru terkendala dalam mengindentifikasi indikator kemampuan matematika saat penyusunan soal. Sehingga soal tidak dapat mengukur kemampuan siswa dengan tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan tes literasi matematika pada materi sistem persamaan dan pertidaksamaan linier. Terdapat empat kriteria soal yang dikembangkan, yakni valid, tingkat kesukaran, keefektifan pengecoh, dan daya pembeda yang baik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) menggunakan desain ADDIE. Teknik pengambilan sampel berupa Cluster Random Sampling dengan memilih 3 kelompok kelas secara acak. Data empiris hasil uji coba dianalisis menggunakan Classical Test Theory(CTT). Terdapat 12 butir tes pilihan ganda dan 3 butir uraian yang dikembangkan dan diujikan kepada 90 siswa kelas 10 SMK. . Hasil dari validitas adalah 0,93 dan reliabilitas 0,86. Menunjukkan bahwa soal tes literasi matematika valid dan reliabel. Sebanyak 12 butir soal pada kategori baik dan 3 butir soal pada kategori cukup baik. Terdapat 14 butir soal memiliki hasil estimasi daya pembeda yang baik, 14 butir soal dengan hasil estimasi kesukaran sedang dan 10 butir soal dengan hasil estimasi distraktor yang berfungsi dengan baik. Sehingga perlu dilakukan revisi pada 2 soal yang memiliki hasil estimasi distraktor yang tidak berfungsi dengan baik. Most teachers have problems identifying indicators of mathematical ability when preparing questions so, it’s cannot measure students' abilities accurately. This research aims to develop  mathematical literacy test that focuses on systems of linear equations and inequalities. There are four question criteria developed, those are validity, level of difficulty, effectiveness of distractors, and good discriminating power. This type of research is research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE design. The sampling technique is Cluster Random Sampling by selecting 3 class groups randomly. Empirical data from trial results were analyzed using Classical Test Theory (CTT). There were 12 multiple choice test items and 3 essay items which were developed and tested on 90 students of grade 10 Vocational High School. The results of validity are 0.93 and reliability 0.86. Shows the mathematics literacy test questions are valid and reliable. A total of 12 questions were in the good category and 3 questions were in the quite good category. There were 14 questions with good discriminant estimation results, 14 questions with moderate difficulty estimation results, and 10 questions with distractor estimation results which functioned well. So it is necessary to revise the 2 questions with the distractor estimation results not functioning properly.

Abstract

Penggunaan bahan ajar berupa media pembelajaran sangat dibutuhkan dan berperan penting dalam proses pembelajaran agar suatu pembelajaran berjalan baik dan efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk e-modul Problem Based Learning yang valid, praktis dan efektif ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4D. Tahapan penelitian pengembangan ini dimulai dari tahap define (pendefinisian), design (perancangan), develop (pengembangkan), disseminate (Penyebarluasan). Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI-MIPA2 berjumlah 35 siswa sebagai kelas control dan kelas XI MIPA1berjumlah 36 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen pada SMAS Yadika Bandar Lampung Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023. Data penelitian diperoleh angket validasi, angket kepraktisan dan dan istrumen test kemampuan berfpikir kritis. Berdasarkan hasil validasi, produk yang dikembangkan sangat layak untuk digunakan dan respon pendidik dan peserta didik mengenai kepraktisan e-modul sangat praktis. Keefektifaan e-modul Problem Based Learning dilihat dari rata-rata skor N-Gain sebesar 74,98 dengan kriteria efektif, dan uji t menunjukkan nilai Sig. sebesar 0,000 kurang dari 0,05 sehingga H0 ditolak. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah produk pengembangan berupa e-modul Problem Based Learning memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif  meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik.The use of teaching materials in the form of learning media is very necessary and play an importan role in the learning process so than learning runs well and effectively. This study aims to produve a Problem Based Learning e-module product that are valid, practical and effective in terms of critical thinking skills. This research uses a 4D development model. The stags of this development research star frome the define, design, develop an disseminate. The subjects of this research were 36  students in clss XI MIPA1 as the experiment class and 35 students in Class XI MIPA2 as the control class at SMAS Yadika Bandar Lampung for the year academic 2022/2023. Research was obtained from validation, questionaires, Practicality questionnaires an critical thinking ability test instrument. Based on the validation results, the product developed is very suitable for use and the responses of educators and students regarding the practicality of the e- module are very practical. The effectiveness of the problem based learning e- modul can be seen from the average N-Gain score 0f 74.98 with effective criteria, and the t test show the sig value of 0.0000 is less than 0.05 so H0 is rejected. The conclusion of this research is that the development product in the form of a Problem Based Learning e-module meets the criteria of being valid, practical and effective in improving students critical thinking skills

Abstract

 Kurangnya keterampilan pemecahan masalah di kalangan siswa dibuktikan dengan kesulitan mereka dalam menangani masalah matematika secara efektif. Kurangnya akses terhadap materi pembelajaran yang mendukung memperparah masalah ini. Selain itu, integrasi teknologi yang kurang optimal dalam pendidikan matematika berkontribusi terhadap pelepasan siswa dari proses pembelajaran. sehingga diperlukan pendekatan atau model pedagogi yang mampu mengatasi tantangan-tantangan ini. Model yang diusulkan adalah Creative Problem Solving (CPS), yang dilengkapi dengan perangkat lunak G-Suite for Education. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik. Model penelitian ini mengikuti metodologi Plomp yang meliputi tahapan penyelidikan awal, pengembangan atau prototyping, dan penilaian. Kerangka pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi pemahaman masalah, perencanaan solusi, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan keefektifan model CPS berbantuan G-Suite, yang mencapai tingkat keberhasilan sebesar 84%. Selanjutnya tanggapan siswa terhadap model ini adalah positif. Kesimpulannya bahwa pemanfaatan Lembar Kerja Siswa (LKPD) berbasis model CPS dengan dukungan G-Suite meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dalam ranah pendidikan matematika. The lack of problem solving skills among students is evidenced by their difficulty in dealing with mathematical problems effectively. Lack of access to supportive learning materials exacerbates this problem. In addition, less than optimal integration of technology in mathematics education contributes to student disengagement from the learning process. so a pedagogical approach or model is needed that is able to overcome these challenges. The proposed model is Creative Problem Solving (CPS), which is equipped with G-Suite for Education software. This research aims to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This research model follows the Plomp methodology which includes stages of initial investigation, development or prototyping, and assessment. The learning framework developed includes problem understanding, solution planning, implementation and evaluation. Research findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the G-Suite-assisted CPS model, achieving a success rate of 84%. Furthermore, students' responses to this model were positive. The conclusion is that the use of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on the CPS model with G-Suite support improves students' mathematical problem solving abilities in the realm of mathematics education.

Abstract

The results of needs analysis show that 51% of students prefer video-based learning. The results of mathematics teacher interview show that students have difficulty in differentiating the equal and inverse value comparison materials. This study aims to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of animated videos based on CTL using Animaker on equal and inverse value comparison for students grade VII at SMP Negeri 6 Jember. This study employs the R&D method with the DDD-E model approach. Six participants were recruited on a small scale and 32 participants on a large scale. The results showed that the validity of the animated video developed included the validity of the material reached the score of 98% (very valid category), and the validity of the media reached the score of 86% (very valid category). Practicality is obtained from small-scale student responses, large-scale student responses, and teacher responses, with their respective scores reaching the score of 81.4% (very practical), 89.8% (very practical), and 86% (very practical). The effectiveness is obtained from the Wilcoxon test with Sig. 0.001 where <0.05, it can be stated that there is a difference between before and after using animated video media. While the N-Gain test reached a score of 0.72 (high category), so it can be stated to be effective. It can be concluded that the animated video developed can be said to be suitable for use in learning Mathematics.

Abstract

Numerasi merupakan kemampuan yang diperlukan dalam dunia pendidikan saat ini. Salah satu kemampuan yang mendukung numerasi adalah representasi matematis. Namun dalam hal ini masih ditemukan masalah terkait representasi matematis. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dalam memecahkan masalah numerasi konten aljabar berdasarkan gender. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari empat siswa SMA Negeri 1 Mojosari, yaitu 2 siswa laki-laki dan 2 siswa perempuan. Tahapan penelitian ini yaitu pemberian masalah numerasi aljabar pada siswa dan penentuan subjek penelitian berdasarkan gender serta hasil tes masalah numerasi aljabar. Kemudian dilakukan wawancara dengan subjek terpilih. Triangulasi data yang dilakukan untuk uji keabsaan data ialah pemberian tes masalah numerasi aljabar dan wawancara pada waktu yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian ini merupakan deskripsi tahapan pemecahan masalah dari siswa laki-laki dan perempuan. Diperoleh hasil siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan menggunakan representasi verbal pada tahap memahami masalah dan tahap merencanakan strategi. Terdapat perbedaan siswa laki-laki menggunakan representasi simbolik, visual, dan verbal pada tahap melaksanakan strategi, sedangkan siswa perempuan hanya menggunakan representasi simbolik dan verbal. Pada tahap memeriksa kembali siswa laki-laki dan siswa perempuan menggunakan representasi verbal.Numeracy is a necessary skill in today's education. One of the skills that support numeracy is mathematical representation. However, in this case there are still problems related to mathematical representation. This descriptive qualitative research aims to describe students' mathematical representation ability in solving numeracy problems based on gender. The research subjects consisted of four students of SMA Negeri 1 Mojosari, namely 2 male students and 2 female students. The stages of this research are giving algebraic numeracy problems to students and determining research subjects based on gender and algebraic numeracy problem test results. Then an interview was conducted with the selected subject. Data triangulation carried out to test the validity of the data is the administration of algebraic numeracy problem tests and interviews at different times. The results of this study are a description of the problem solving stages of male and female students. The results obtained from male students and female students using verbal representations at the stage of understanding the problem and the stage of planning the strategy. There are differences in male students using symbolic, visual, and verbal representations at the strategy implementation stage, while female students only use symbolic and verbal representations. At the stage of checking back male students and female students use verbal representations.
