Abstract

Nowadays, access to drinking water services in Indonesia still not on SDG's target where 100% of society should have access to clean water. Based on data from the ministry of public works and public housing (2015), there are only 59,7 percent of Indonesians receiving piped water access through the Indonesian regional water utility company (PDAM) and only 7,474 villages (from 72.944 villages) have been supported to establish community-based organizations (HIPPAM) to manage local water supply services. Sumberrejo village is one of the villages which can manage water by establishing HIPPAM. Therefore, it is necessary to know the social capital through the social structure of Sumberrejo society. The aim of this research is to trace the social capital in Sumberrejo village through the community participation so that HIPPAM Tirta Buana can be formed. This research use SNA (Social Network Analysis) as a method to know the social network of society which is measured by density, centrality and participation level. From the calculation of SNA can be seen that the value of density, centrality, and level of community participation in Sumberrejo village is good. The bonds formed from the HIPPAM community are strong. The result of this research can be concluded that the existing social capital is a bonding social capital which can be developed by utilizing actors with high centrality value in order to deliver information related to clean water.

In addition to economic factors such as wages, educational factor, age, marital status, unemployment and population number in many theories are also expressed to influence the tendency to migrate. On the other hand the denser urban area gives rise to commuting. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of individual and regional characteristics on labor migration in Gerbangkertosusila Area. Using multilevel binary logistic regression, the findings show that the variables significantly affecting commuting decision are age, marital status, secondary and higher education, wage gap and open unemployment rate. Furthermore, workers with a hingher tendency to commute are workers with individual characteristics of male, young, unmarried, highly educated, and self-employed, and with regional characteristics of smaller wage gap, higher open unemployment rate in the origin, and lower population on destination.

Abstract

This study analyzed the factors affecting the propensity internal migration of Indonesian elderly based on age classification of the elderly, i.e., young elderly, middle elderly, or old elderly. It used multinomial logit model that explored the affect of interaction between internal and external factors on elderly migration. This model was chosen beacuse the dependent variable had polichotomous scale, nominal or ordinal scale with more than two categories. The estimation results indicated the migration propensity of the elderly affected to internal factors, i.e., gender, health, education, employment status, and presence spouse. Meanwhile, external factors, that is, social protection does not affect to the elderly migration. Furthermore, the young women elderly migrants with good health and education background, still working, and lives with their spouse would have a higher propensity to migrate. Instead, these results differed for middle and old elderly migrants.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to examine the cause of inflation based on fiscal policy perspective where government fiscal policy on government revenue and debt is such an inflationary process, meaning that if these two variables do not controlled properly, they will lead to higher level of inflation. Using annual data from 1972 to 2016 and ARDL bounds test approach to process these data, the result of co integration shows that government revenue and debt are simulaneously have long run relationship. This result is supported with the long run and short run relation for each independent variable individually. In the short run and long run, government revenue has positive impact on inflation with lower impact in the long-run compared to the short-run. Furthermore government debt also shows positive impact on inflation both in the long run and short run with the impact in the long run is higher rather that in the short run. As local governments depend heavily on national government on their fiscal resources, this study is also important to local government  because any decision of national government will affect to them.

Abstract

Realizing food security in Indonesia is facing multidimensional problems and challenges in terms of economic aspects. Meanwhile, the challenges to achieve food security at the macro level are becoming increasingly difficult as the trend of food supply and demand is moving towards the opposite direction. In terms of supply, food supply is predicted to be increasingly difficult due to the physical, economical and environmental constraints on its growth. On the other hand, in terms of demand, it is predicted that food demand will continue to grow in line with the population growth, economic development, and the dynamics of the strategic environment.East Java has a great potential for supporting national food security due to its relative extent of agricultural land. In addition, the overflow of production factors in the form of land is the capital for East Java to develop the agricultural sector for improving food security. This study aims to describe the potential of food security and its relation to the efforts for reducing poverty in Lamongan. The results showed that rice, corn, and soybean commodities are the main commodities of agricultural food crop sector in Lamongan. These three commodities contribute and generate high productivity, in fact, does not affect the rate of poverty. Despite the various efforts performed, however, the increase in productivity has not been encouraging. Further, the Poverty Depth Index in Lamongan is precisely increasing. Therefore, Adult Equivalent (AE) method was used as a method to equalize child consumption needs with adult population by calculating the economic scale for calculating poverty rate. The results of the AE method revealed that the economic scale in adult categories needs to be prioritized on corn and soybean farmers.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the policy change of village regulation and the implementation of Law No 6/2014 on the Village as new village policy. The method of this research was qualitative. It was conduct in two locations, i.e: Kairane village of Kupang Regency and Dringu village of Probolinggo Regency. The result indicates that although the policies used are the same, but they produce different outputs. In isolated villages, the dominant output is village infrastructure. This is due to inadequate water and transportation facilities. Whereas in the developed villages, there are more administrative services. Thus village funds are difficult to absorb in infrastructure activities, but disbursed for village apparatus honorarium fees. On the other hand, policy change is more on political process and always do when village government ineffective. In conclusion, the implementation of village policy in Indonesia has different results. Let’s focus on managerial approach to make policy robust not only political: the advanced village focus on better public services, while the isolated focus on village development.

Abstract

In this digital era, social media has become one of the tools of political communication channels. Like what happened at the 2019 general election, political campaigns also used social media. The activities aim to boost the voice especially from the younger generation who are the biggest internet users in Indonesia. Unfortunately, political campaign activities were also accompanied by increased hoaxes before and after the voting day. The emergence of the phenomenon of the spread of hoaxes is actually due to the low digital literacy in the community. Kemendikbud has launched a digital literacy program since 2016 to address this problem, especially for school students. This research aims to look at the relationship of level of digital literation program implementation at senior high school with the level of political participation of young voters in Malang Raya. The research method in this research was quantitative inferential with correlation test. The population in this research were high school students who have the right to vote in the 2019 general election in the Malang Raya area. The number of samples in this research were 503 respondents. The sampling technique used multistage random sampling. The results showed that there was a relationship between the level of digital literation program implementation at senior high school with the level of political participation of young voters in Malang Raya.
