Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of urban design planning in aggravating or reducing urban health inequalities. Health resilience must be a priority to control the impact of a health crisis. The study examines the factors that impact urban health resilience, utilizing seven indicators of the urban design element, to determine the level of urban health resilience in densely populated settlements. The study uses empirical data collection, physical analysis, and statistical calculations to determine the relationship between the urban design element and health. The findings show a strong link between urban design and urban health resilience. Implementing urban health resilience is vital to creating a healthier, more durable urban environment that can withstand future health emergencies. Therefore, focusing on health resiliency is critical for a more resilient urban environment.

Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the existence of Balinese cultural traditions in the layout of Tejaprana Resort in Ubud, Bali, and its preservation. The design of the site, restaurant, and villas reveals the physical-social-meaning system of Balinese cultural tradition through awareness of sense, purpose, and essence. The site's mass-space layout, which lines up in a south-north orientation and slopes eastward following the site's shape, achieves the meaning of appreciating the balance and harmony of nature. The restaurant architecture, with its hollow roof, upper room, and lower room, adapts to the local environment, preserving the meaning of the three layers of nature (top, middle, and bottom) of the Tri Loka philosophy. The restaurant's architecture's openness to local nature preserves the meaning of appreciating the balance of the natural environment (Manik Ring Cucupu Philosophy).

Abstract

Environmental characteristics, visitor activities, and user impressions (sense of place) of Gasibu Park determine users' interest and the sustainability of Gasibu Park as a public space. This research aims to reveal user perceptions of the environmental characteristics, activities, and users’ sense of place, as well as the relationship between the three. This research used a mixed-method approach. First, text data from reviews on Google Maps was collected and analysed to explore user perceptions. Second, data was collected through an online questionnaire with closed-ended questions. The collected data was analysed using factor analysis to obtain dimensions of perception to the environmental characteristics, activity, and sense of place. From the multivariate regression analysis, it was revealed that the dimensions of environmental quality, location and accessibility, and management influenced the dimensions of suitability for the place, while the dimensions of management, public facilities, photography, and recreational tourism influenced the dimensions of dedication to place.

Abstract

The Malang Creative Center (MCC) construction is a step taken by the Malang City government to support the flow of modernization and as a forum for Malang residents to develop their creativity. The MCC display concept is planned by combining the shape of the temple and the unique cultural background of Malangan. However, during the development process, many changes were different from the initial concept. All these things make this building interesting to study critically. Therefore, this study aims to critically identify these changes in the idea as well as rectify the perceptions that have developed. Descriptive analysis was carried out through direct observation of objects by describing real conditions and explanatory verification of the results of these observations with visitors' views via a questionnaire. The analysis results show that the public's perception of the visual MCC has a good level of compatibility with the concept and function of the building, although some aspects still require attention regarding the visitor’s safety and comfort.

Abstract

RSIA Melati Husada Malang developed the concept of a boutique hospital by applying Javanese architectural interiors to give a homey, personal, and authentic impression and support the healing environment concept. This aims to reduce anxiety and improve the well-being of postpartum patients. The purpose of this study is to identify the interior elements of Javanese architecture in the postpartum inpatient room that support the formation of a healing environment. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data sources from field observations. The criteria for identifying the object of study were developed by integrating literature studies on the interior elements of Javanese architecture and the concept of healing environment. This resulted in the formulation of 6 categories and 14 elements of Javanese architectural interiors, all of which adhere to the healing environment criteria. Furthermore, we use these criteria as a reference for descriptive analysis of the object of study. The results of this study show that the object of the study has applied 13 out of 14 criteria for Javanese interior design based on the healing environment.

Abstract

The study aims to rate and categorize the quality of the livable built environment in Kampung Warna-Warni Jodipan, which is a riverside settlement. It will do this by identifying important physical features through visual observation, visual interpretation of ArcGIS, scoring, and weighting. We use visual observation methods and visual interpretation of ARCGis to determine and evaluate physical conditions that impact the quality of the settlement environment. We use the scoring and weighting techniques to assess and classify the quality of the habitable built environment in Kampung Warna-Warni Jodipan. The results of this study show the physical aspects that form the quality of the residential environment affect the quality of the habitable built environment both positively and negatively. Physical aspects that have a good effect are the road surface and roof coverings of buildings; physical aspects that have a moderate effect are the density of buildings and settlement locations; while the physical aspects that adversely affect are the width of the driveway, protective trees, and building layout. The medium quality classification includes Kampung Warna-Warni Jodipan RW 2, RT 6, 7, and 9, with RT 7 having a poor classification value and RT 6 and 9 having a medium one.

Abstract

Population density triggers urban density so that urban parks become important infrastructure that has a significant ecological impact while beautifying the environment, entertainment facilities, research, and social spaces. The provision of parks in Bojonegoro City is needed to meet these needs. This study aims to analyze the priority of urban park functions in Bojonegoro based on the function of green open space. The analysis uses the Process Hierarchy Analysis (AHP) method to determine the value of the priority vector of functions and the value of the priority vector on the supporting factors of the provision of urban parks. The results of the study show that the priorities in the process of providing urban parks, both the planning, land provision and blending processes are budget availability (0.859) and socio-cultural functions (0.684). Budget availability allows for routine maintenance, such as garden maintenance, facility repairs, and waste management. The availability of the budget provides a solution for improving the quality of city parks as public RTH in accordance with service standards.

Abstract

Kuching Waterfront attracts researchers to evaluate its significance and contribution to urban design. The concept of urbanization in today’s society related to daily utilitarian living outlives the setting of a place. This paper examined the urban elements through the theory forwarded by leading scholars and examined the crucial role interplay in understanding and enhancing the character of the place. The analysis of the urban elements along Java Lane as the outset of the waterfront’s location in Kuching stretch until the Riverside Apartment that covers 1.3 kilo meters was declared open in 1993. By examining road infrastructure, public spaces, and architectural features along with ideas based on the theories of Lynch, Shirvani, Weisenburger, Hillier and Hanson, this research examines urban structures that contribute to context and their role in the urban landscape. Data was collected by means of field observations and interviews. The study was carried out by tracing the intricate fabric structure of the waterfront and shedding light on its significance and challenges. The research findings contribute to the development of understanding of the role of roads in the urban landscape and offer recommendations to promote sustainable urban development in Kuching.
