Abstract

Learning media is seen as a communication tool that bridges between abstract ideas and the real world, learning media also makes the process of interaction independence, communication and material delivery between educators and students so that it can take place in an appropriate and efficient manner. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the scales media oriented on the model of politics and learning independence on understanding the mathematical concepts of STAIN GPA mathematics students. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method. The subject of this study was a fifth semester mathematics student consisting of 26 students. Sampling from this study is by using population samples. Data collection before and after treatment was obtained from the test scores on the ability to solve mathematical questions in linear program subjects, PLSV and PTSLV. The test given consists of 10 questions in the form of essays. In addition to using the test in this study also used a questionnaire to see the independence of student learning which consisted of 22 item statements. The results showed that it was 15.65 ≥ 2.05 so that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, or in other words the use of the Polya model oriented scales media and learning independence could have a positive and significant effect on understanding the mathematical concepts of STAIN GPA Mathematics Students.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to (1) determine how to apply the model of problem based learning in order to improve student learning outcomes and (2) determine learning outcomes and student activities through the application of problem-based learning models. The subjects were students of class X-IPS2 totaling 26 people. The object of research is the study model Problem Based Learning in learning. Student learning outcome data collected through tests and analyzed descriptively. The results of the analysis after the action was obtained in the first cycle there were 11 students (42.3%), which reached the KKM. In the second cycle increased to 23 students (88.5%), which reached KKM, an increase of 42.2%. Student activity also showed an increase, in the first cycle only reached four aspects to seven aspects of the second cycle. Based on the analysis it can be concluded that the application of the model of Problem Based Learning can improve learning outcomes and student activity significantly

Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of the use of aids in mathematics instruction in SMP, with: 1) compare the mathematics learning achievement of students who were taught using real aids with that of students who were taught using half-real aids.; 2) compare the mathematics learning mastery of the students from both schools categories.This research is a quasi-experiment with pretest-postest design with non-equivalent groups. This research used two experiment groups and two control groups. Population of this research was fifth grade students of state SMP in Detusoko. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select the sample. From the population, the researcher took two schools and every school consisted of two classes as a sample. The total of the sample are 100 people. Data were collected using test. The test were tried out to two groups of students. To compare the mathematics learning achievement of students, data were analyzed by descriptive statistic and inferential statistic by analysis of covariant  (α =0.05) and was continued with Tukey-Kramer test (α =0.05), while to compare the mathematics learning mastery of the students, data were analyzed by Chi-Square test.The result of this research showed that: 1) from both schools categories the mathematics learning achievement of students who were taught using real aids is higher than that of students taught using half-real aids; 2) the mathematics learning mastery of high category school students who were taught using real aids is higher than that of high category school students who were taught using half-real aids;3) the mathematics learning mastery of low category school students who were taught using real aids is not higher than that of low category school students who were taught using half-real aids; 4) from both schools categories the students who were taught using real aids, reach the mathematics learning mastery level, while the students who were taught using half-real aids, do not reach the learning mastery level.

Abstract

Evaluation is a process of measurement and assessment. It is a very crucial in teaching learning process. Education and teacher training faculty (FTIK) of IAIN Langsa stated that educational evaluation as a compulsory subject that the students have to study.  However, some of non-mathematics students face difficulty in analyzing data because of number, formulas and accuracy in calculation. The objective of this study is to determine the use of Anates software in studying educational evaluation. This study is conducted in quantitative method while pretest-posttest group experimental design is used. The unit 3 of PAI students is assigned as a sample by using purposive sampling. The result shown that there is a significant different result between before and after Anates software taught where 3 categories of enhancement have indicated, 47,06% for high level,  35,29% for moderate level and 17,65% for low level. Hence, the use of Anates software can help non mathematics students in studying educational evaluation and the learning process is more efficient and accurate.

Abstract

This study examines the use of interactive multimedia that can be effectively used in the learning process on the three dimensional material, to answer this problem, the research uses data collection techniques with teacher ability observation sheet, student activity observation sheet, test of learning result, and student response questionnaire. Data processing in this study using simple statistics with percentage and t-test. Achievement of the effectiveness of learning by using interactive multimedia is based on; the ability of teachers to manage learning, student activities during learning, student responses to learning and learning mastery. From the results of this study found that, the use of interactive multimedia effectively used in learning on the material dimension three in class X SMA 3 Banda Aceh. This is shown from the aspect of the ability of the teacher to manage the learning that is in the good category that is the score 4.13, the completeness of learning outcomes by 80% and student response results that show more than 90% of students interested in the appearance of illustration / interactive multimedia images and are interested to follow further learning. So it can be concluded the use of interactive multimedia, effectively used in learning on the material dimension three in class X SMA Negeri 3 Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Square function is one of mathematical concepts that must be well-comprehended by students. However, there are many students who are having obstacles in understanding the concecpt. For this reason, there is crucial a need of applying a teaching model which make students active in order to construct their knowledge and comprehension of the concept. The purpose of this study was to examine students’ achievements, detect the students’ activities, examine the students’ responds to the applying TAI model oriented by APOS theory. The classroom action research (CAR) was used in this study with 28 students of grade-10 (classroom X-MIA.1) of MAN 2 Banda Aceh in academic year 2015/2016 as the subjects of this study. The instruments used in this study were the student observation form, teacher observation form, student respond questionnaire toward the application of the learning model and the test items. The data was analyse by using percentage of the descriptive analysis. The results showed that in cycle I to IV: (1) 89,29% students achieved the minimum level of students’ achievement; (2) students were moderately active; (3) 100% students enjoyed the learning model and were agreed if in the next teaching and learning to be used the similar model. Consequently, the model of TAI oriented by APOS theory is an appropriate model used in the teaching and learning of square function concept.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of creative thinking of students in solving math problems. This type of research is a verification qualitative research. The research subjects were eight people, the first grade students of Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh UIN. Subject selection was made based on the Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT), namely four reflective students and four impulsive students. The research data were obtained from the research subjects' written answers, namely the mathematics creative thinking test (TBKM) and the results of the interview. To test the credibility of the data the researcher triangulated. In this study, the triangulation used was the method triangulation by comparing TBKM and interviews. Students' creative thinking skills can be seen based on the achievement of mathematical creative thinking indicators. The results of the study are as follows, the reflective subject's creative thinking level 1 on compound interest calculation material is level 4, which meets four indicators of fluency, novelty, flexibility, and elaboration, the creative thinking level of reflective subject 1 on the straight-line equation related to supply and demand functions is the level 3 namely meeting the three indicators of fluency, flexibility, and elaboration. The reflective subject's creative thinking level 2 on compound interest calculation material is level 3, which is fulfilling three indicators of fluency, flexibility, and elaboration, the reflective subject's creative thinking level 2 on the straight-line equation related to supply and demand functions is level 4, which meets four indicators of fluency, novelty , flexibility and elaboration. The level of reflective subject creative thinking 3 on compound interest calculation material is level 3, which is fulfilling three indicators of fluency, novelty, and elaboration, the level of creative thinking reflective subject 3 on the material of straight-line equations related to supply and demand functions is level 1 namely meeting two indicators of fluency and elaboration. The reflexive subject's creative thinking level 4 on compounded calculation material is level 4, which is fulfilling four indicators of fluency, novelty, flexibility, and elaboration, the reflective subject's creative thinking level 4 on the straight-line equation material related to supply and demand functions is level 4, which is meeting four indicators fluency, novelty, flexibility and elaboration. The level of creative thinking of the subjects Impulsive 1, Impulsive 2, and Impulsive 4 on the compound interest calculation material and on the straight line equation material is level 1 which satisfies two indicators of fluency and elaboration. The level of creative thinking of the impulsive subject 3 on the compound interest calculation material and on the straight line equation material is level 3 which is to fulfill three indicators of fluency, flexibility, and elaboration.

Abstract

One of the goals of mathematics learning according to the content standards of mathematics is that students have the ability to solve problems that include the ability to understand problems, design mathematical models, complete models and interpret solutions obtained. So that students from elementary school to university level have been trained in mathematical problem solving questions. However, there are still many weak students in achievement in the field of mathematics such as problem solving skills. One of the factors that influence the weakness of problem solving skills is the learning style. The purpose of this study was to analyze students' mathematical problem solving abilities based on learning styles. The type of this research is descriptive quantitative, with the research subject being students of class VIII MTsN totaling 38 students. The instrument used is Questionnaire and Test the ability to solve mathematical problems. Questionnaires are used to classify student learning styles, while problem solving ability tests are used to analyze students' problem solving abilities. The results of the study concluded that mathematical problem solving abilities of students who had a visual learning style were higher than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who had audiotorial and kinesthetic learning styles. And the ability of problem solving students who have audiotorial learning styles is higher than students who have kinesthetic learning styles.

Abstract

Purpose of this study is to: to find out the objective conditions of local superiority in mathematics learning in elementary schools in Central Aceh Regency, to design mathematical learning models based on local superiority of class I students, and to find out student responses to local excellence based mathematics learning models in Central Aceh Regency. The subjects of this study were all 4th grade students of elementary school in Bebesen Central Aceh District. And the samples are SD 1 Bebesen, SDN 2 Bebesen, SDN 5 Bebesen, SDN 8 Bebesen, SDN 9 Bebesen, SD 10 Bebesen, SDN 10 Bebesen, SDN 11 Bebesen, SDN 12 Bebesen, SDN 14 Bebesen, SDN 16 Bebesen, SDN 16 Bebesen, SDN 17 Bebesen, SDN 17 Bebesen, SD IT Scholar. The research results were obtained that: (1) the objective conditions of mathematics learning of elementary students in Central Aceh Regency as follows. a) In the learning process the teacher has not linked mathematics with the local character and potential of the area. b) The mathematics handbook used today has not linked students' personal character. (2) During the learning process of mathematics based on local excellence and the potential character of antusius elementary school students to learn mathematics, the steps of the local superiority-based learning model are (a) the teacher conditions the class, starts with prayer by preparing facilities and infrastructure, doing Apperception of the local potential of central Aceh district b) Presenting contextual problems, Explicitly negotiating, Cooperative intervention, guiding students in groups to discuss contextual issues contained in the LAS. Give students the opportunity to present their model findings through class discussions. c) Guiding students to formulate the results of the discussion while making a summary of the material discussed, Providing material evaluations through giving quizzes or home assignments. The design of elementary school mathematics learning based on locally designed excellence received a good response from all students. 83.74% of students gave a positive response to the local excellence-based learning model. From these results it is expected that the mathematics learning model in the class must be tailored to the needs of students so that the objectives of the learning process can be achieved maximally.

Abstract

This study aims to produce Linear Algebra module for mathematics education students. This type of research is research development (R & D) with Plomp development model. The Plomp development model consists of five phases, namely: initial investigation phase, design phase, realization/construction phase, test phase, evaluation, and revision, and implementation phase. This research was conducted on students of mathematics education program of FKIP Samudra State University. Instruments used are in the form of validation sheet, test sheet and the questionnaire. The results showed that the Linear Algebra module that has been developed already met the aspects of good module quality, namely: the feasibility test module, Linear Algebra module that has been developed is valid based on the expert assessment; effectiveness test, where Linear Algebra module has an impact on the level of mastery and understanding of students on good criteria; test of practicality, where the result of questionnaire of practicality analysis shows that the module that has been developed can be implemented and used by the students.
