Abstract

This study investigates the impact of emotional intelligence on aggressive behavior among high school students in Depok who have previously experienced early childhood education (PAUD). Employing a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression design, a sample of 446 high school students in Depok was selected through purposive sampling. Emotional intelligence was assessed using a Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 22 items, demonstrating a reliability coefficient of 0.833, while aggressive behavior was evaluated with a reliability coefficient of 0.833 across 25 items. Descriptive analysis revealed that the mean score for emotional intelligence (65.74) surpassed that of aggressive behavior (56.39), suggesting that higher levels of emotional intelligence may serve as a mitigating factor against aggressive tendencies. Regression analysis further illustrated a significant impact, yielding an R-square value of 0.984 and a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that 98,4% of emotional intelligence contributes to aggressive behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the career well-being of school counselors in Indonesia. This study was conducted quantitatively using a quantitative descriptive analysis. The population of this study was all school counselors in Indonesia. The selection of population was made by the researchers because there is no standard Career well-being Scale in the Indonesian context. The sample consisted of 1,000 school counselors throughout Indonesia, selected using simple random sampling technique. The data was collected using the Career Well-Being Scale based on Coetzee’s theory. The study began with the development of the Career Well-Being Scale, followed by the distribution of the scale through Google Form, data collection, and data analysis. Data analysis was performed using percentage statistical formula. The results showed that the difference in career well-being of school counselors had a Sig value of 0.00. Obtaining a Sig value < 0.05 indicates that there is a significant difference in the career well-being of school counselors with four different educational qualifications. Educational qualifications influence the career well-being of Indonesian school counselors. School counselors with a master’s degree and a PPG certification have higher career well-being than school counselors with a bachelor’s degree

Abstract

This study aims to develop a picture book and to investigate its validity and practicality for elementary school students. A research and development framework was employed, utilizing the ADDIE model, which consists of three stages: analysis, design, and development. Data were collected through questionnaires and an instrument for validity testing. Product testing was conducted in two stages: (1) validity testing, which involved a subject expert, a learning media expert, and an instructional design expert and (2) practicality testing, which involved five students from a small group and 26 students from a large group. The data were then analyzed by integrating both qualitative and quantitative techniques. Results showed the following: the validity was rated by the instructional materials expert at 87%, qualifying as good, and by the instructional media expert at 98%, qualifying as very good. Meanwhile, the practicality was rated by the small group at 98% and by the large group at 96%, both qualifying as very good. These results indicate that guided inquiry-based animated video media was determined to be suitable for use in early childhood learning.

Abstract

Research has found that santri have poor well-being, hindering their ability to optimize their potential at pesantren. Santri often experience discomfort and pressure due to significant differences in routines and facilities between home and pesantren.  This study aims to investigate santri’s well-being in relation to their self-adjustment and their parents’ occupations. This study was conducted using a quantitative correlational method. Data on well-being and self-adjustment were collected using the Indonesian Santri Well-Being Scale and the Psychological Adjustment Scale (PAS). Data on parents’ occupations were gathered through the biodata section of the questionnaire sheet. Selected using purposive cluster random sampling, the study included 175 santri from the tenth and eleventh grades at Pesantren X, aged between 15 and 18 years. Data were analyzed using the ANCOVA test. The results revealed a positive correlation between self-adjustment and santri’s well-being, with a contribution of 26.6% (ηp2 0,266). Parents’ occupations do not influence santri’s well-being, as the pesantren provides equal facilities and treatment to all santri regardless of their social status. Seventy-five percent of santri at Pesantren X exhibited a moderate level of well-being. The results suggest implementing an orientation period to facilitate santri’s transition from home to pesantren, enhancing their self-adjustment ability and consequently improving their well-being

Abstract

This research aims to show that narrative counseling can increase adolescents' self-esteem. The research approach used is mixed-method with an embedded design. The instrument is based on the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI) which measures four aspects of self-esteem. The research subjects in this study were 3 high school adolescents in class XI. The results of the research showed that there was a change in self-esteem in the three teenagers, which was indicated by receiving sufficient recognition and feeling worthy, which means that narrative counseling can increase the self-esteem of adolescents who experience self-harm. However, of the three adolescents, one adolescent still committed self-harm with infrequent frequency even though his self-esteem was already in the medium category. This suggests that there are other variables that influence someone to do self-harm, such as self-concept. Apart from that, the factors influencing a person's self-esteem are different. Further analysis is needed regarding these factors.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of academic buoyancy on the levels of academic stress among students. Adopting a quantitative design, this study involved 140 students at SMP (Middle School) “TV”, selected using a convenience sampling technique. The study employed the Student Stress Inventory and the Academic Buoyancy Scale for data collection, and the correlation and regression techniques for data analysis. Results showed a positive correlation between academic stress and students’ academic stress levels. Academic buoyancy plays a role in predicting middle school students’ levels of academic stress despite a small impact (R2 = 0.091). Further research is recommended to explore personal and demographic factors that contribute to academic buoyancy. Teachers and school counselors may need to promote students’ confidence and competence in overcoming academic challenges by building a positive climate at school and providing trainings for students

Abstract

This study aims to examine self-esteem and future career orientation among adolescents at the X Orphanage. Preliminary interviews indicated that the majority of adolescents at the X Orphanage lacked self-esteem and suffered confusions about future career. This study employed a descriptive approach and a mixed method, involving 28 adolescents aged 14-21 years living at the X Orphanage. The adolescents’ self-esteem was measured using the Self-Esteem Inventory with the reliability score of 0.88, while future career orientation was assessed using the Future Career Orientation questionnaire with the reliability score of 0.905. Interviews were conducted to collect more in-depth information about factors influencing self-esteem and career planning. Descriptive statistics and content analysis were adopted to analyze quantitative and qualitative data. The results of this study showed that majority of adolescents at the X Orphanage had moderate to high levels of self-esteem and moderate clarity in future career orientation. Support and fulfilled needs contribute to their positive self-esteem and sufficiently clear future career orientation. However, some adolescents were found to have low self-esteem within the context of social relationships and demonstrate vague career planning. These results highlight the importance of environmental support for orphanage adolescents to foster their self-esteem and enhance career planning.
