Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between binge-watching and psychological well-being among university students, a population particularly susceptible to fluctuations in mental health due to academic, personal, and social pressures. A quantitative, survey-based design was employed. The sample consisted of 161 university students aged 18-25 years who had engaged in binge-watching, defined as viewing a minimum of three consecutive episodes of a television series within a single sitting. Psychological well-being was measured using the Short-form Ryff’s Psychological Well-being Scale Ryff & Keyes (1995)while binge-watching tendencies were assessed through the Binge-watching Addiction Questionnaire (Forte et al., 2021). Data analysis was conducted via Pearson’s product-moment correlation using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26 for MacOS. Results demonstrated a statistically significant, albeit modest, positive correlation between binge-watching frequency and psychological well-being, suggesting that increased engagement in binge-watching may coincide with heightened perceptions of psychological flourishing among students, whereas lower levels of engagement may be linked to diminished psychological well-being.

Abstract

Existential anxiety is a growing concern among university students, especially amid academic pressure and uncertainty about the future in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Research linking existential anxiety to psychological well-being based on Carol Ryff’s theory remains limited. This study aims to examine the relationship between psychological well-being and existential anxiety among university students through the lens of Ryff’s dimensions and Yalom’s concept of existential anxiety. The study adopted a quantitative method and involved 45 fifth-semester students at STIT At-Taqwa Ciparay, Bandung. Data were collected using validated scales and analyzed with the Pearson’s correlation through SPSS version 26. Results showed a significant negative correlation between psychological well-being and existential anxiety. Students with higher psychological well-being reported lower existential anxiety. These findings highlight the need to strengthen psychological well-being as a preventive approach to existential anxiety. The study contributes to educational psychology and supports mental health initiatives in higher education

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of social comparison on body image of female adolescents, who are active social media users, in Karawang Regency. The population of the study was infinite. The sample consisted of 204 female adolescents aged 12-22 years who actively used Instagram and TikTok, selected using the convenience sampling technique. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach with a causal design. The data were collected using two psychological scales: the 13-item Body Image Scale adapted from Khairani et al. (2019) and the 11-item Physical Appearance Comparison Scale-Revised (PACS-R) adopted from Rachmat et al. (2024). The data were analyzed using the simple linear regression. Results showed that social comparison significantly influenced body image (p=0.017); p<0.05), indicating that higher tendency for self-comparison leads to poorer body image. The R² value of 2.8% indicates that social comparison is a contributing factor, while the remaining 97.2% of the variance may be attributed to other factors not explored in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in improving emotion regulation among students of cyberbullying perpetrators and its application in guidance and counseling services. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with a literature review/study design. Data collection was conducted through references from books and journals relevant to the study, specifically those related to enhancing emotion regulation among perpetrator students of cyberbullying through counseling service interventions using a cognitive behavioral therapy. Data analysis was carried out by connecting, comparing, presenting, and finally concluding the findings from supporting reference materials. The study results indicate that cognitive behavioral therapy is effective in improving emotion regulation skills through restructuring negative thought patterns, self-awareness training, and reinforcing adaptive responses. The implementation of cognitive behavioral therapy in counseling services, both individually and in groups, can serve as a preventive and curative strategy to reduce aggressive online behavior. This study is expected to serve as a reference for school counselors in designing appropriate interventions for perpetrator students of cyberbullying.

Abstract

This study examines the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Career Planning Questionnaire (CPQ) for high school students using the Rasch Model. Data were collected via a non-random sampling survey involving 209 respondents. Analysis was conducted using Winsteps software to evaluate item quality and model fit. Results indicate that the three CPQ subscales self-knowledge, occupational knowledge, and career decision-making skills met unidimensionality criteria, with raw variance explained values of 48.1%, 42.6%, and 50.0%, respectively. Item reliability was high (0.97 for subscale A, 0.99 for B, and 0.73 for C), while person reliability was moderate (0.70, 0.42, and 0.83). Differential Item Functioning (DIF) analysis identified two gender-biased items (A16 and C20). Additionally, Mixture Rasch Model analysis revealed two latent classes, reflecting response heterogeneity among students. These findings demonstrate that the Indonesian CPQ is a valid and reliable tool for assessing high school students’ career planning, though some items require revision to enhance measurement accuracy and fairness.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the WDEP Reality Counseling in enhancing academic resilience among students. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The study population consisted of 72 students, with a sample of 22 students divided equally into experimental and control groups (11 students each), selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using an academic resilience scale and observation guidelines. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test. The findings revealed that: (1) At the pretest stage, both the experimental and control groups showed low levels of academic resilience. After the posttest, the academic resilience level in the experimental group increased to the high category, while the control group remained in the low category; (2) The implementation of the WDEP Reality Counseling was conducted according to five stages: rational treatment, want, doing, evaluation, and planning. Student participation during the counseling sessions was categorized as high; (3) There was a significant difference in academic resilience levels between the group that received WDEP Reality Counseling and the group that did not. This indicates that the application of tthe WDEP Reality Counseling significantly improves students' academic resilience.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of psychological well-being and self-esteem on loneliness of migrant students. The researchers used a quantitative approach, involving 108 migrant students in Medan, who were selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data collection in the study used the Ryff's psychological well-being scale, Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES), and the loneliness scale according to Peplau and Perlman. Analysis of research data used multiple linear regression techniques. Based on the simultaneous significance test result of 0.000>0.005, it means that self- esteem and psychological well-being simultaneously have a negative effect on loneliness, meaning that the higher the psychological well-being, the lower the level of loneliness. Conversely, loneliness will increase if psychological well-being decreases. The researchers found that 16% of the loneliness variable can be explained by psychological well-being and self-esteem, which shows a significant contribution of both variables in reducing feelings of loneliness in individuals.

Abstract

This study examines the role of self-determination in relation to the emotional well-being of high school students attending full-day schools in Samarinda City. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. Data were collected using self-determination and emotional well-being scales. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The senior high schools that implemented the full-day school system in each sub-district in Samarinda City were grouped and allocated proportionally into eight representative schools, resulting in 359 student respondents. The results indicated a strong and significant relationship between self-determination and emotional well-being among high school students attending full-day schools in Samarinda City, as reflected by a correlation coefficient of r = 0.613. The role of self-determination contributed 37.6% to the score in emotional well-being. These findings suggest the need for further research to explore other factors influencing emotional well-being in full-day school students. Furthermore, schools are encouraged to implement programs that enhance student self-determination to support emotional well-being.
