Abstract

The Covid-19 virus is a virus that spread quickly either directly or indirectly. Prevention of the Covid-19 virus can be accompanied by a strong immune system, namely by improving a healthy lifestyle with balanced nutritional foods. Nutrition education stands for an effort to increase knowledge of nutrition and eating behavior which is important for elementary school children. The media which common to use is a playing board that can help students to understand and recall what has been conveyed. Based on this reason, the Medan Kota 02 KKN-T group designed a program to increase understanding of nutrition to prevent Covid-19 among elementary students in MDA Al-Muhajirin, in Kota Matsum IV Village. The activity began by filling out a pre-test to find out student's knowledge before receiving education material. After that, continued with delivering nutrition and covid materials including an explanation of the balanced nutrition cone, then continued with the health protocol material, playing the board game by attaching food stickers to the picture of the balanced nutrition cone and matching the picture with the health protocol description. In the last session, all the students were asked to filling out the post-test. The impact of this program is that students understand and apply how to maintain healthy and balanced nutrition guidelines (PGS) and comply with prokes. The results indicated that the value of the participants from pre-test to post-test increased not too significantly, namely by 0.034, which could be caused by knowledge bias due to distraction. The distraction may be caused by the participants' unpreparedness in receiving the material, the class conditions that are not supportive, and the lack of initiative of the participants to take notes and understand the material provided. Nu-Covid eduboard may be an alternative program for increasing student knowledge about balanced nutrition guidelines and prokes in covid-19 pandemic situation.

Abstract

Coastal communities in general depend on the sea so that the fulfillment of food in the form of side dishes generally does not vary. Coastal communities have large enough yards for agricultural cultivation and freshwater fisheries, they are constrained by environmental factors (threats of drought and salinity). For this reason, problem solving efforts were carried out by designing and making an aquaponic system with the Dutch Bucket System (DBS) as well as training and education on horticultural cultivation techniques land kale (Ipomea reptana) and catfish (Clarias gariepinus) which were combined in the DBS model. The purpose of this service activity is to provide knowledge and understanding to partners about how to cultivate Aquaponics on horticultural plants (land spinach) and freshwater fish (catfish) through DBS technology. Partners are housewives who live in Bongo Village, Batudaa Pantai District, Gorontalo Province. The result of this service activity is additional knowledge and understanding of coastal communities regarding aquaponic cultivation techniques using the DBS. This activity is beneficial for the PKK group of women in fulfilling daily food diversity, reducing the monthly expenditure of vegetables and side dishes by 66.7% and providing education related to the use of yards on coastal land.

Abstract

In early 2020, Karang Asem Timur Village received a grant from the Ministry of Marine Affairs in the form of a catfish farming system in buckets (budikdamber). This program is conducted by several business groups that are widely spread in the community. Many of the catfish farmers in Karang Asem Timur Village complain about the high cost of commercial feed which is commonly used, made the profits earned very insignificant and even tend to lose, thus need supervision. The IPB Serving Lecturer Program attempts to empower the people of Karang Asem Timur Village in optimizing fish farming activities and their processed products. This program as an extension of the Thematic Field Apprenticeship Lecture (KKN-T) program, partners with the catfish business group in Karang Asem Timur Village look for other feeding alternatives that are cheaper and have good nutritional content for catfish. In addition, the program also cooperates with youth organizations and family welfare empowerment to open business opportunities for processed catfish products and catfish cultured products. It is hoped that the progress and independence of the village economy can be achieved. The society eagerly participate and propose for the program to be continued gradually and sustainably in the near future.

Abstract

Chili is a perishable product which require farmers to maintain its freshness. Rotten chili can not be sold causing the profits to decrease. One way to minimize the damage level of post harvest agricultural products is by applying the Good Handling Practice (GHP) system. The application of GHP will reduce the risk of contamination of fresh chili during handling, packaging, storage and transportation. The objective of this activity is to increase Kebun Berseri farmer’s group knowledge, ability and skill in handling chili post harvest and processing activities. The method of implementing this activity was extension, demonstration and evaluation. Extension activity was conducted using lecturing method. The topic discussed was related to increasing the value added, processing techniques for commercially valuable chilies, packaging techniques and a broader marketing system. Demonstrations were conducted to improve the skills of farmer’s group members in applying Good Handling Practice (GHP) correctly. The results of the evaluation showed that from these activities, farmers gained additional knowledge and new technology related to post-harvest handling and processing of chilies into shredded and chili oil.

However, online learning certainly requires students and educators to have good devices and internet network access. In an effort to increase children's learning motivation, make them more open and able to express creativity through fun learning, a non-formal education program called Ngariung Bagja was compiled. The Ngariung Bagja program was implemented in Cikadu Sub-Village, Rabak Village, Bogor District, with the exact location at SDN Rabak 02. Abstract

Chili is one of the important food ingredients. The lack of public knowledge about chili cultivation techniques and good land optimization makes people's interest to grow chili less. In addition, household organic waste management in Tasikmalaya, especially in Sukasari Village, has not been optimal. The objectives of this service activity are 1) To provide knowledge and skills about chili cultivation techniques; 2) Utilization of household organic waste through the technology of processing household organic waste into organic fertilizer that can have economic value (Osama biobased economy); and 3) Educate the public regarding the optimization of yard land. The partners in this activity are the Jaya Mukti Farmers Association and Mukti Farmers Group which are located in adjacent areas with a total of 32 people using a random sampling technique because the sample is homogeneous. The activities carried out were in the form of socialization, demonstration, and practicum on household organic waste processing technology (Osama), chili cultivation techniques and optimization of yard land, as well as distribution of seeds and fertilizers to the community. The data collection technique in this activity uses a questionnaire. The results of this service activity indicate that there is an increase in community knowledge and skills in chili cultivation and the use of household organic waste and home yards.

The main theme of this workshop is less-waste lifestyle, vegetable regrow from cooking waste and also the utilization of used cooking oil for making eco-friendly soap. Because of the pandemic situation, this workshop was held on the 2nd of January 2021 with web seminar method using Zoom meeting and the coordination was performed by WhatsApp group. Aside from PowerPoint slides and videos of eco-friendly soap making, the participant was given a post-test and an evaluation form at the end of the webinar. The duration of this webinar was 2 hours and the follow-up were carried out in the WAG, which is monitoring the participant's regrow results. From this activity, the post-test result showed that participants obtained an upgraded knowledge about the lecture given.
