Abstract

This research aims to develop computer-assisted instruction by using gamification elements on mirror reflection topics in Junior High School. The method used in this research was a descriptive method. The subject of this research is experts and students. Experts chosen in this research are one science expert, one media expert, and one science teacher. Students chosen in this research are fifty-seven students in 9 grade at one of junior high school. The gamification aspects were chosen to make the game were goals, science content, and challenging environment. The expert gave feedbacks in both media and the quality of the content aspects. Students were asked about their agreement level of the gamification elements and the effect of gamification. The effect of gamification asked were motivation, joyness, convenience, addiction, understanding improvement, attractiveness, and interactiveness. The result found that experts gave a good score towards this game. Students also agreed that the game has goals, science content, and challenging environment. The result also found that the gamification elements itself caused them to feel motivated, joy, convenience, addiction, improve their understanding, and attracted after playing the game. Other than that, students confirmed they have two ways of interaction with the game. More than half of total students got a score higher than the average score after playing the game.

Abstract

Every teacher has experiences to identify and find out students who have misconceptions in their classrooms. Misconceptions that occur can differ between male and female students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of gender on misconceptions in the lesson of the material classification and its changes. The survey-aiming method was used in this study. A total of 62 students from one of the state junior high schools in the city of Surakarta consisting of 34 male students and 28 female students were involved as the subjects in this study. Identification of misconceptions was conducted using the Two-tier multiple-choice diagnostic instrument that was equipped with the Certainty of Response Index method. The formulation of this study problem was: “How are the differences of misconceptions between male and female students in learning the material classification and its changes?” This study showed that female students tended to have misconceptions on the competency achievement indicator vis-a-vis explaining the understanding of elements, compounds and mixtures, while male students tended to have misconceptions on the competency achievement indicator pertinent to distinguishing elements, compounds, and mixtures. In general, female students had better conceptual knowledge than male students. The two-tier multiple-choice instrument could be used as an alternative instrument to identify misconceptions among students. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for educators to identify and resolve students’ misconceptions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen penilaian proyek berbasis model discovery learning yang layak digunakan dan sebagai salah satu inovasi pengembangan penilaian proyek secara lebih oprasional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan mengintegrasikan model 4-D dengan model pengembangan instrumen non tes. Subjek uji coba yaitu peserta didik Kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok, Kabupaten Sleman. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui: (1) penilaian berdasarkan masukan para ahli, untuk menentukan validitas isi instrumen; (2) hasil uji coba terbatas untuk menentukan reliabilitas instrumen, instrumen pengumpulan data berupa lembar observasi penilaian proyek untuk mengukur keterampilan pemecahan masalah. Instrumen penilaian proyek berbasis model discovery learning yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dan reliabel sehingga layak digunakan serta terbukti dapat digunakan untuk mengukur keterampilan pemecahan masalah peserta didik.Kata Kunci: penilaian proyek, keterampilan pemecahan masalah, discovery learning, pembelajaran IPA Developing Discovery-Learning Based Natural Sciences Learning Project Assessment to Assess Problem Solving Skill  AbstractThis research aims to develop project-based assessment instruments model discovery learning a proper use. This research is research development by integrating 4-D model with the model development of noninstrument test. The subject of the test i.e. learners Class VIII Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 Depok Sleman Regency. The data in this study were obtained through (1) assessment based on the input of experts, to determine the validity of the content of the instrument; (2) the limited Test Results to determine the reliability of the instrument, the instrument of data collection in the form of sheets of observation project assessment to measure problem-solving skills. The instruments of project-based assessment model of discovery learning developed declared valid and reliability so that the feasibility as well as proven can be used to measure student’s problem-solving skills.Keywords: project assessment, problem-solving skills, discovery learning, learning science

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan dan keefektifan LKPD berbasis Learning Cycle 7E terintegrasi Potensi Lokal Pantai Parangtritis dalam meningkatkan critical thinking. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian pengembangan metode 4D yaitu define, design, develop, disseminate dengan menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. Penilaan kelayakan produk dilakukan oleh ahli media dan ahli materi untuk mengetahui kevalidan, kepraktisan yang dilakukan oleh guru, dan keterbacaan peserta didik. Hasil penilian kelayakan oleh ahli materi, media, dan guru berturut-turut sebagai berikut 3,6; 3,56; 3,7 dengan skor maksimal adalah 4 (sangat valid). Uji keterbacaan mendapat nilai sebesar 3,5 dari skor maksimal 4 (sangat baik). Hasil gain skor ternormalisasi menunjukan peningkatan dalam pembelajaran dikelas eksperimen 0,86 tergolong tinggi dan kelas kontrol 0,66 tergolong rendah. Efektivitas penelitian menggunakan uji independentsample t testdengan nilai sig.(2-tailed) 0,000 kurang dari 0,05. Hasil uji menunjukan bahwa LKPD IPA berbasis Learning Cycle 7E efektif untukmeningkatkan critical thinking peserta didik SMP N 1 Bantul. Natural science worksheet based on the 7E learning cycle integrated with local potentials in Parangtritis beach to improve students' critical thinking Abstract: This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of the integrated Science Worksheet based on 7E Learning Cycle Integrated with local potentials in Parangtritis Beach to improve students’ critical thinking. This type of research is a 4D method development research that is defined, design, develop, disseminate using pretest-posttest control group design. The assessment of the feasibility of the product is carried out by media experts and material experts to find out the validity, practicality carried out by the teacher, and readability of students. The results of the assessment of eligibility by material experts, the media, and teachers are as follows 3.6; 3.56; 3.7 with a maximum score of 4 (very valid). The readability test gets a value of 3.5 from a maximum score of 4 (very good). Normalized score gain results showed an increase in learning in the experimental class 0.86 is high and the control class 0.66 is low. The effectiveness of the study used an independent sample t-test with a value of sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 less than 0.05. The test results show that Science worksheets based on 7E Learning Science Cycle integrated Local Potentials of Parangtritis Beach effective in improving students’ critical thinking.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran fisika model problem based learning melalui kegiatan fieldtrip yang layak, (2) mengidentifikasi hasil belajar fisika berupa aspek kognitif, minat belajar, dan berpikir kreatif. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development). Validasi dilakukan oleh dua dosen ahli dan uji keterbacaan diujicobakan pada peserta didik. Subjek coba dilakukan pada kelas XI SMA sebanyak 30 peserta didik. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan pedoman wawancara, angket, dan observasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis isi dan analisis deskriptif presentase. Kesimpulan penelitian adalah: (1) perangkat pembelajaran fisika dinyatakan layak dengan kriteria baik, (2) hasil belajar pada aspek kognitif diperoleh rata-rata kelas eksperimen sebesar 62,93, dan rata-rata kelas kontrol sebesar 57,20. Hasil minat belajar peserta didik, pada kelas eksperimen memiliki rata-rata sebesar 67,50, dan pada kelas kontrol memiliki rata-rata sebesar 65,65. Sedangkan hasil belajar berpikir kreatif peserta didik diperoleh rata-rata kelas eksperimen sebesar 74,91, dan rata-rata kelas kontrol sebesar 65,56.Kata Kunci: model problem based learning, fieldtrip, hasil belajar, kognitif, minat belajar, berpikir kreatif, perangkat pembelajaran fisika. A Problem Based Learning Model in Physics Learning Equipment Development Through a Fieldtrip Activity in Energy Material AbstractThis research was aimed to: (1) yield a learning-based problem model of physics learning equipment through a feasible fieldtrip, (2) identify physics learning results in the forms of cognitive aspect, learning interest and learner creative thinking from physics learning implementation with a problem-based learning model through a fieldtrip activity.This was a research and development research. The validation towards learning equipment was conducted by two expert lecturers and learning equipment readable was experimented to the learners. The experimented subject was conducted in XI Senior High School grade numbered 30 learners. Data gathering instrument used  interview guide, questionnaire and observation. Data analysis was conducted by a content analysis and percentage descriptive analysis. It could be concluded that: (1) physics learning equipment was declared feasible with good criteria, (2) learning results in cognitive aspect in the experimental class obtained average of 62.93 and controlled class average of 57.20. The results of learners learning interest in the experimental class had an average of 67.50 and controlled class average was 65.56. While learning result of learner creative thinking was obtained experimental class average of 74.91 and controlled class average of 65.56. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengembangkan instrumen penilaian berupa tes pilihan ganda critical thinking dan practical skill yang valid dan reliabel (2) memetakan critical thinking dan practical skill peserta didik SMP. Prosedur pengembangan dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada langkah-langkah model prosedural dari Model 4D Thiagarajan. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut. (1) Instrumen penilaian IPA berupa tes pilihan ganda terdiri atas 36 item yang fit. Instrumen penilaian IPA berupa tes pilihan ganda telah memenuhi validitas isi dengan expert jugdement yang dibuktikan dengan perolehan indeks kesepakatan (indeks Aiken) yang berada pada rentang angka 0,8 hingga 1,00. Kegiatan uji coba (uji empiris) dilakukan pada 121 peserta didik. Reliabilitas instrumen penilaian IPA mengalami peningkatan dari 0,95 menjadi 0,97. (2) Secara umum, terdapat 92 dari 220 didik atau 41,82% yang memiliki kemampuan critical thinking dan pratical skill di atas rata-rata. Pada kemampuan critical thinking sebagian besar berada pada kategori rendah dan sangat rendah mencapai 49,55% sedangkan pada kemampuan pratical skillsebagian besar berada pada kategori sedang 43,64%.Kata Kunci: tes, critical thinking dan practical skill Developing Science Assessment Instrument to Map Critical Thinking and Practical Skill of Junior High School Students AbstractThe study aims to (1) to developing a valid and reliable assessment instrument in the form of multiple choice test of critical thinking and practical skill and (2) to mapping critical thinking and practical skill of Junior High School Students. This study was research and development (R D) that refers to Thiagarajan 4D Model. The result of this study are (1) assessment instrument in the form of multiple choice test consist of 36 fit items. The assessment instrument in the form of multiple choice test is already comply with content validity that be proven with Aiken’s index from 0.8 to 1.00. 121 students is be responden in small-scale tryout. Item reliability increases from 0.95 to 0.97. (2) Mapping result image shows that there are 92 out of 220 students (41.82%) who have critical thinking and practical skill in over average. Almost the Pilot Project Junior High School students have critical thinking ability in low and very low category that is 49.55% whereas they have practical skill ability in average category that is 43.64%.Keywords: test, critical thinking and practical skill

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying and developing the quality of life skills-based student’s worksheet for minor chemical industries. This study was a research and development that referred to the developmental model proposed by Borg Gall. The procedures in this study consisted of four stages namely introduction, planning, product design, and product validation. The product validation was conducted by the peer reviewers, the media and material experts and the Chemistry teachers in order to gather assessment and suggestions on the quality of student’s worksheet that had been implemented to the Chemistry teachers in SMK N 1 Panjatan. The data gathering instrument that the researchers used was the product validation sheet. The results of this study showed that the product that had been generated was in the form of life skills-based student’s worksheet for minor chemical industries. On the other hand, the results of an assessment by the Chemistry teachers showed that in average the student’s worksheet fell into the “Very Good” category; as a result, the life skills-based student’s worksheet for minor chemical industries is feasible for implementation in the learning process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan Alat Peraga Kit Optik Serbaguna yang dapat meningkatkan Keterampilan Proses Sains siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian eksperimen, dengan subjek penelitiannya adalah siswa kelas VIII H SMP N 1 Semarang. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes, angket, dan lembar observasi. Data yang di analisis berupa hasil penerapan dalam pembelajaran dan angket respon siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat peraga yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan KPS siswa dengan nilai gain mencapai 0,85 yang (kriteria tinggi). Peningkatan KPS tertinggi terjadi pada indikator mengamati sedangkan terendah pada indikator menyusun hipotesis. Hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan Alat Peraga Kit Optik Serbaguna menunjukkan adanya penigkatan yang signifikan, hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai gain mencapai 0,78 (kriteria tinggi). Hasil angket respon terhadap Alat Peraga Kit Optik Serbaguna menunjukkan nilai 75,59% untuk alat peraga kit optik serbaguna dan 70,78% untuk LKS. The Development of Multipurpose Optical Kit Learning Aid for Enhancing Students’ Science Process Skills AbstractThis study aims to develop of multifunction optic kit teaching aids toward to improvement of students Science Process Skills. Method design used in this study was experimental research method, with eight graders of SMP N 1 Semarang as the research subject. The instrument used in this study included test, questionnaire, and observation sheet. The result of this study showed that the developed props could improve students Science Process Skills, with the value gain reaching 0,85(high criteria). The highest improvement of Science Process Skills occurred in indicator of observing, while the lowest occurred in indicator of compile the hypothesis. The learning outcomes using the props indicated a significant improvement, this is showed by value gain reaching 0,78 (high criteria). The result of a questionnaire of multifunction optic kit teaching aids showed the value 75,59% and 70,78% of student worksheet.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh implementasi metode presentasi pada tahap pra-laboratorium terhadap skor laporan praktikum dan sikap terhadap kimia. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah posttest control group design yang terdiri atas kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Jumlah total responden yang terlibat sebanyak 67 mahasiswa dimana sebanyak 33 mahasiswa berada di kelas kontrol dan 34 mahasiswa di kelas eksperimen. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah rubrik penilaian laporan praktikum dan kuesioner sikap mahasiswa terhadap kimia. Komponen laporan praktikum yang diukur adalah abstrak, sumber informasi, organisasi, relevansi, konten, dan presentasi. Kategori sikap terhadap kimia yang digunakan adalah sikap terhadap materi kimia, sikap terhadap praktikum kimia, kepercayaan terhadap belajar kimia, dan kecenderungan sikap untuk belajar kimia. Pengaruh implementasi metode presentasi pada tahap pra-laboratorium terhadap skor laporan praktikum dan skor sikap terhadap kimia dianalisis menggunakan MANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi metode presentasi pada tahap pra-laboratorium memberikan pengaruh yang positif terhadap skor laporan praktikum dan sikap terhadap kimia. Semua komponen laporan dan kategori sikap pada kelas eksperimen memberikan skor yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol. Hal ini disebabkan karena implementasi metode presentasi pada tahap pra-laboratorium mampu meningkatkan motivasi dan kesiapan mahasiswa dalam melakukan penyelidikan. Implementation of the presentation method in the pre-laboratory stage of writing skill and attitudes toward chemistry AbstractThis study aims to examine the implementation of the presentation method in the pre-laboratory stage to improve writing skills and attitudes toward chemistry. A post-test only controls group design was employed, with a total sample of 67 students taking a general chemistry course. There were 33 students in the control class and 34 students in the experimental class. The research instruments used were rubric for laboratory work assessment and questionnaire for attitudes toward chemistry assessment. The components of laboratory work report measured are abstract, source of information, organization, relevance, content, and presentation. Attitudes toward chemistry are measured with 4 categories namely liking for chemistry theory lessons, liking for chemistry laboratory work, evaluative beliefs about chemistry, and behavioural tendencies to learn chemistry. The effect of the implementation of the presentation method in the pre-laboratory stage on the two variables was analyzed using MANOVA. The results showed that the implementation of the presentation method in the pre-laboratory stage has a positive effect on laboratory work report score and attitudes toward chemistry score. The class that applied the presentation method in the pre-laboratory stage achieve a higher score in laboratory work report and attitudes toward chemistry.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui karakteristik performance assessment yang valid dan reliabel untuk mengukur practical skills IPA pada guided-PjBL, (2) mendeskripsikan practical skills IPA yang muncul pada guided-PjBL, dan (3) mengetahui peta practical skills IPA siswa SMP menggunakan performance assessment. Penelitian ini merupakan Research Development dengan menggunakan model 4-D Thiagarajan, et al. (1974). Subjek uji coba adalah siswa kelas VII di SMPN 1 Wonosari, SMPN 4 Playen, dan SMPN 5 Ngawen.Teknik pengambilan data meliputi wawancara, angket, dan nontes. Instrumen pengambilan data meliputi pedoman wawancara, lembar angket, dan lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu performance assessment dalam bentuk lembar observasi dinyatakan valid dan reliabel. Practical skills IPAyang muncul pada guided-PjBL meliputi: merancang proyek; menggunakan termometer dan indikator universal; membaca hasil pengukuran suhu dan pH; membuat tabel; menentukan variabel bebas dan terikat; membuat grafik; mengetahui hubungan antar-variabel; dan membuat kesimpulan. Siswa pada sekolah kategori tinggi memiliki tingkat kemampuan practical skills paling tinggi bila dibandingkan dengan siswa pada sekolah kategori sedang dan rendah. Siswa pada sekolah kategori sedang memiliki tingkat kemampuan practical skills paling rendah.Kata Kunci: performance assessment, lembar observasi, guided-PjBL, practical skills IPA Developing Performance Assessment to Map Science Practical Skills on Guided-PjBL AbstractThis study aims to: (1)find out the characteristic of performance assessment that is valid and reliable to measure science practical skills on guided-PjBL, (2) describe science practical skills that appear on guided-PjBL, and (3) find out the map student’s science practical skills in junior high school to use performance assessment on guided-PjBL. This was a research and development study employing the development model by Thiagarajan et al. (1974).The tryout subjects were junior high school student in SMPN 1 Wonosari, SMPN 4 Playen, and SMPN 5 Ngawen. The data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and nontests. The data collecting instruments included an interview guided, validation questionnaire sheets, and observation sheets. The result of the study was the product of performance assessment in observation sheet form was valid and reliable. Science practical skills that appear on guided-PjBL. included: designing project; using thermometre and universal indicator; reading temperature and pH measurement; creating table; defining independent-dependent variable; creating graph; find out relation between variable; and drawing conclusion. The students in the school with the high category have the highest science practical skills of the three schools. The students in the school with the low category have higher science practical skills than students in high grade school.Keywords: performance assessment, observation sheet, guided-PjBL, science practical skills
