Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the material, instructional strategy, media, and interaction of IT-Based Economic Learning for Class XII at SMAN 1 Getasan. It was a qualitative study using ethnographic design. Data collection method used was in depth interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique used was analysis arranged in site. Data validity test used was credibility and confirmability.The findings suggested that the Economic subject materials taught at SMAN 1 Getasan were from Economic textbook published by Yudistira, Students worksheets, and also other references such as internet. Strategies of IT-Based Economic Learning at SMAN 1 Getasan focused not only on the use of technology but also on the principle of active students. lnstructional media of IT-based economic learning at SMAN 1 Getasan was very practical as presented in electronic form via LCD or player. Media used were macromedia flash software. There were one-way and two-way interactions in it. Oneway interaction occurred when teachers delivered material required an understanding while students were asked to pay attention. Two-way interactions were visible in all teachers and students activities in question and answer sessions, study group activities, and discussion.

Abstract

The purposes of  this research are to describe the types and references of  the deitic words used in the Jakarta Post editorial. The central topics of pragmatics, this study is limited on applying deixis on the Jakarta Post for July 2012 editorial. Method of data collection that is used by researcher is documentation method. There are five types of the deitic words. The first is personal diexis which includes the followings: (1) the first person I refers to a speaker inclusion (+S) and speaker exclusion (S). We refers to an including the speaker but excluding the hearer (s) (+S, A) (Expressive use), include both speaker or writer and hearer (s) or reader(s) (+S,+A) (Integrative use) and an in cluding the speaker, listeners and some assuming hearer (s) or reader (s) (+S,(assuming) + A) (assuming use); (2) The second person, You refers to addressee inclusion (+A) and exclusion (A); (3) The third person, speaker and addressee exclusion (S,A). He or she refers to male or female person, unknown gender and a male or female person?s occupation. They refers to an indefinite (singular) person, group of people or things and non persons. The second type is temporal deixis which can be categorized into the follow ings: (1) time relation (pre, present, post events), (2) time period (calendrical and non caldrical), and (3) the moment of utterance (coding and receiving time). The third type is spatial Deixis which includes proximal expression (here) and distal expressions (there). The forth type is discourse dexis which includes this and that, refering to large amount of the discourse that are located in the discourse itself. The fifth type is social deixis. The relational variety is the most important deixis which involes four axes as speaker and referent e.g. referent honorifics, speaker and addressee, addressee honorifics, speaker and  bystander. There are  two references of the deitic words are used. They are referential devices that can create cohesion (anaphoric, cataphoric, and exophoric) and type of references (reference personal, demonstrative and comparative).

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) set forth a form of speech implicature of Jokowi, President of Indonesia, in the Mata Najwa talkhow, (2) expose the existence of positive politeness strategies iused in the Najwa talkshow, (3) set forth the form of learning materials developed from implicature and positive politeness in the Indonesia language learning, especially in Junior High School. Research method used in analyzing the data is descriptive qualitative method, and the strategies used in this research is embedded research. In addition, the researcher also make use of advanced engineering record and note as data collection techniques. The results of the study indicate the followings: (1) the form of implicature in Jokowi?s speesh contains some mean affects, refusal, convincing, quips, rule, forbidding, threatening, clarification, and complain; (2) the positive politeness strategies used indicate equality through preassumption, as mark solidarity group, fencing, optimistic opinion, banter, involving partners, repeating a por- tion of the speech, praise and humble himself, avoid disagreement, giving the offer, and pay attention to the needs of the partner?s speech; (3) these findings can be implemented on the Indonesian Language course, especially at the 10th grade of Vocational school.

Abstract

This research deals with the use of conjunction in Indonesian language by the fifth graders of Baki Pandeyan 01 Elementary School of Sukoharjo. The objective of this study is three folds: (1) to describe conjunction used in spoken Indonesian Language; (2) to describe conjunction used in written Indonesian Language; (3) to describe errors in using conjunction both in written and spoken Indonesian. This research is categorized into descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is the conjunction used in spoken and written of Indonesian language of the fifth grade.The data of the research was the conjunction used in Indonesian Language of the fifth grade students which were collected through writing and retelling the story. The technique of data collection was done by using tapping technique continued with scrutinize ability involvement technique, recording technique, and noticing technique. The technique of data analysis used intralingual match because it connects and compares the language itself. The result of the study showed that conjunction of spoken Indonesian language of subordinative reached 182, coordinative reached 64, and inter-sentences reached 3. The using of subordinative conjunction in written Indonesian language reached 104, and 49 for coordinative cinjunction. The conjunction often used by the fifth grade studens is dan. Conjuntion error often occurred in the use of words dan, tetapi, lalu, sedangkan which were used as the preposition, the wrong spelling of yg and /. This research also revealed that the characteristics of subordinative conjunction are as follows: (1) Connecting two points which equally important, (2) Connecting words or prhases which are equal, (3) It used in the compound sentence. Then, the characteristics of coordinative conjunction are (1) Connecting two or more sentences which the same syntactic status, (2) Forming the subordinative clause, (3) Used in the complex sentences. The characteristics of inter-clause conjunction are (1) Connecting one sentence to the others, (2) Combining two sentences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi bentuk pembinaan yang dilakukan sekolah dalam menangani perilaku menyimpang remaja (juvenile delinquensi) bagi siswa SMA. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini pengumpulan data wawancara tertulis. Wawancara tertulis dilakukan kepada mahasiswa baru program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta saat berada di semester 1. Mahasiswa baru merupakan alumni yang baru saja lulus dari SMA dengan pengalaman sebagai pengamat dan atau juga pelaku kenakalan remaja yang terjadi di sekolah. Selain itu, wawancara juga dilakukan kepada guru bimbingan konseling sekolah menengah atas yang ada di Surakarta. Wawancara tertulis ini dilakukan secara snowball yang selanjutnya dianalisis dengan analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 7 variasi bentuk pembinaan yang dilakukan sekolah, di antaranya (1) pemberian nasihat, (2) pemberian motivasi, (3) pemberian pengarahan dan memanggil wali murid, (4) sosialisasi pengenalan lingkungan sekolah saat MOS, (5) hukuman yang disesuaikan dengan jenis pelanggaran, (6) diberi pelatihan dasar kepemimpinan, dan (7) dilakukan home visiting. Bentuk pembinaan yang diberikan disesuaikan dengan pelanggaran yang dilakukan siswa. Kata kunci: pembinaan, pencegahan, perilaku menyimpang, kenakalan remaja

Abstract

This study is mainly intended to find out the tasks type in Pathway to English textbook which are designed to provide classroom activities based on five learning cycles as the basic of 2013 curriculum. The objective of this research is to identify the suitability of the labeled tasks design in Pathway to English with the relevant theory of five learning cycles in scientific approach, namely: observing, questioning, exploring, associating, and communicating activities. This study is qualitative research which involves content analysis approach. The object of this research is the tasks in English textbook Pathway to English for the tenth grade of Senior High School written by Th. M. Sudarwati and Eudia Grace published by Erlangga in 2013. In collecting the data, the researcher uses documentation technique. The data are analyzed using Creswell?s theory. The study reveals that not all task types in textbook are relevant to five learning cycles of Curriculum 2013. The result shows that 59.4% task types are relevant to scientific approach, while 40.6% task types are irrelevant to scientific approach. Considering the result above, it can be concluded that the tasks design in Pathway to English are not sufficient to provide students activities and cannot measure entire students? knowledge, skill and attitude as the important competence in 2013 curriculum.

Abstract

The onjectives of this research are to describe (1) the preparation of school self-evaluation in improving school accreditation; (2) The visitation in improving school accreditation; (3) The results of school accreditation. The type of the research is qualitative and uses ethnography design. The site of the study is SD Negeri 2 Mranti Purworejo District, Purworejo. Techniques for collecting data used are interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this research are as follows: (1) Preparation of school self-evaluation is conducted by a special team formed by the principal. The preparation done before the new school year, it takes place by collecting data from the SNP. EDS is consisting of EDS instrument and the physical evidence for each item SNP. The preparation is conducted byhaving a checklist for each item in the SNPs form that describes the real condition of the school; (2) the visitation process in improving schools accreditation runs smoothly and according to the procedure. The process begins with the submission of the letter that comes with the implementation of the accreditation document to School Accreditation Association (BAS) of district; (3) the accreditation result increases from 79 in 2005 to 86.81 in 2010.

Abstract

This study aims at revealing the reflection of loyalty in Hemingway?s The Old man and the Sea. The focus of this study only on the character of Manolin, he is a learner of the old fisherman. This study is categorized as qualitative research design which is the data collected in the form of words rather than numbers. It is also used objective approach that the analysis focused only at the novel itself and the interrelationship between its internal parts of the elements. The results reveal that the character of Manolin was reflected loyalty to the old fisherman through his commitment over many challenges, his high attention to the old fisherman, and his devotion to him. It was mentioned as follows: firstly by showing his commitment over many challenges, secondly by showing high attention to Old man (Santiago), and the third showing his devotion to the old man (Santiago). The result presented here may facilitate information that Loyalty is the positive mental attitude that can be learned through the character of Manolin. It is also given to the student in English Education Department to duplicate the loyalty from Manolin because this is a positive attitude and can be used as a moral lesson.

Abstract

SME is one of the backbones of the national economy that directly faces the competition of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The role of SMEs as economic activities is expected not only to be able to meet market needs in local communities but also reduce unemployment by providing employment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of creativity and product innovation on business performance. This research is field research for businesspeople in the city of Semarang. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling approach, a business actor (owner or manager) who is willing to be a respondent as many as 100 respondents. The results of this study indicate that creativity and product innovation simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the business performance of SMEs in the city of Semarang. The implications of this research can be used by SMEs to optimize creativity and improve product innovation capabilities so that it has an impact on improving performance.

Abstract

Students? reading comprehension on disciplinary texts commonly involves the interaction between the cognitive aspect and the text itself, but little is known how it is carried out through multimodal reading. To fill this practical void, this article reports the findings of classroom action research of the pre-service teachers learning disciplinary vocabularies through different modes of meaning, the socially and culturally shaped resources or semiotic structure for making meaning: video viewing and graphic organizers. This study proposes that multimodal reading has the potential to promote the role of student teachers as designers and navigators in reading English disciplinary texts. Pedagogically, this multimodal engagement not only creates interactive content learning but also it encourages the students to become autonomous language learners. In addition to multimodal reading activities, the students were motivated not only to learn about language but also to learn through language. Moreover, multimodality reading tasks can scaffold comprehension and production of the academic language of the students. Finally, students who are engaged in cognitive work in content areas (e.g., statistics for second language research) have the motivation to learn a language that supports their learning. Multimodality reading tasks can support students ?communication, increasing students? academic writing and students? academic vocabulary development as well.
