Abstract

Squeezing avocados to determine ripeness can cause physical damage or bruising, reducing the fruit’s quality and resulting in losses for sellers and buyers. This research aims to develop an Android-based mobile application to detect avocado ripeness based on skin color, avoiding physical damage to the fruit. The study uses three simple Convolutional Neural Network architectures to evaluate the algorithm’s ability to detect avocado ripeness. The dataset includes 385 images across four classes: immature, half-ripe, ripe, and overripe (74 images each), and an additional 89 images for the non-avocado class. The model was trained with learning rates of 0.001, 0.0001, and 0.00001. The architecture with the most convolutional layers achieved the best performance with a 0.001 learning rate, yielding a test accuracy of 94.15%, a test loss of 19.28%, and an F1-score of 94.0%. The best model was then converted to TFLite format and successfully integrated into an Android application that functions effectively.

Abstract

Porosity contributes to fluid storage and determines reservoir quality. The higher the porosity, the more free space is available to store fluid. However, the porosity of reservoirs, particularly the sandstones of the Talang Akar Formation of the Rambangnia River track, is not always good. The diagenetic process in the formation of sandstones is thought to contribute to variations in porosity quality. This study aims to determine the control of diagenesis on the porosity of sandstones of the Talang Akar Formation of the Rambangnia River, South Sumatra. The research methods used were field observation, petrographic, diagenesis, and porosity analysis. Based on petrographic analysis, the study area has three types of sandstone: lithic wacke, sublitharenite, and litharenite. The study of diagenesis shows that the sandstones in the Rambangnia River’s Talang Akar Formation have gone through an intense compaction phase, dissolution, cementation by silica and calcite minerals, and an authigenic phase in clay minerals.  In general, the porosity of rocks in the study area ranges from fair to good.

Abstract

This research examines biochar manufacture from waste coffee grounds and wood dust using the dry torrefaction method with a temperature ratio of  250°C  and 300°C. The adhesive used at 5% shows a calorific value of 6,786 cal, volatile matter 81.82%adb, water content 1.79%ar, and ash content 9.52%adb. Meanwhile, the adhesive at 7% obtained a calorific value of 6,264 cal, water content of 3.9%ar, volatile matter 81.82%ab, and ash content of 14.29%adb. The results of the functional group analysis with FT-IR of the two torrefaction biobriquettes showed the presence of CH and OH groups originating from cellulose compounds, indicating that the carbon quality in the torrefaction charcoal is still high. Activated charcoal products produced through torrefaction are briquettes using tapioca flour adhesive to be molded as bio briquettes, and the results are tough and not easily broken.

Abstract

Construction projects frequently encounter supervision and control challenges, leading to delays and cost overruns, primarily due to inadequate information management. This study examines the impact of Information Management Systems (IMS) adoption on project supervision and control in Banda Aceh, with a focus on information quality, technological readiness, and user competency. Using a quantitative survey of 95 construction professionals and multiple linear regression analysis, the findings reveal that IMS enhances real-time data accessibility, transparency, and process integration. However, its effectiveness depends on technological infrastructure, user training, and management support. These insights offer strategic recommendations for optimizing IMS adoption to improve project performance.

Abstract

AK-Tekstil Solo is a vocational campus with several workshops for lectures, one of which is the Spinning and Weaving Workshop. It has yarn and fabric manufacturing machines and holds the most significant electricity consumption for machine operations, lighting, and other instruments. Hence, a smart workshop room with electrical energy efficiency is crucial. This research aims to design and develop a smart workshop lighting system using an Arduino-based microcontroller circuit and photocell components. The light intensity setting system is performed by determining the measurement point of light intensity and measuring the natural and artificial light intensity as the input for photocell and relay. An automated lighting system for the smart workshop was then developed using a photocell censor based on the Arduino Mega microcontroller. Product testing shows that the automatic switches and relays based on programming successfully work the automated system.

Abstract

Islamic Center in Sidoarjo City is a building area that aims to facilitate the growth and development of Islam in Sidoarjo City. This is due to the absence of facilities that provide for Islamic religious activities. With the existence of this building area, it is expected to be able to accommodate scholars and Muslims to develop and maintain the values of Islam. Through the application of the Islamic Architecture theme, the buildings in this area apply the concept of Islamic Geometry to the form of the building with the aim of creating a form of Islamic architecture that is able to express the characteristics of Islamic architecture. The concept of Islamic geometry in the form of architecture will focus on creating an attractive, charming design that has deep meaning. Islamic Geometry Design can include various elements that make the building an attractive and inviting sight. The concept of this form must create an eye-catching form for people towards the surrounding environment, so that the existing building form is able to respond to the conditions of the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The increasing environmental impact caused by hospital wastewater, particularly due to its ammonia content, necessitates innovative treatment methods. This study investigates the effectiveness of a combination of sugarcane bagasse-based activated carbon bio-adsorbent and nanofiltration membrane technology to reduce ammonia concentrations in hospital wastewater. The activated carbon was produced through carbonization at 550°C and chemical activation using 10% H2SO4. Adsorption experiments were conducted by varying bed heights (5, 7.5, and 10 cm) and flow rates (2, 3, and 4 L/min), followed by nanofiltration at 25, 30, and 35 Psi pressures. Results showed that the combined treatment reduced the wastewater pH from 9.08 to 6.53 and ammonia concentration from 4.61 mg/L to 0.02 mg/L, successfully meeting regulatory standards. This indicates that the integrated method effectively decreases ammonia levels and improves wastewater quality before discharge.

Abstract

The main building of the Creative Arts Music Industry Center in Surabaya has a function to facilitate the growth and development of the creative arts music industry in Surabaya. Among them are Pop, Rock, Dangdut, Jazz, Classical, and Traditional Music. The facilities in this building include indoor music performances, a music library, music education, music production, music recording, and a music collaborator. The main building is designed with the application of a contemporary architectural theme. Contemporary architecture is architecture that has the freedom to express itself and has the desire to create a new and different work from previously existing architectural works. So that it can produce an appearance that is beyond the ordinary; their appearance gives an attractive, exploratory and complex impression. In its application, the form of this main building adopts a form that is quite closely related to the art of music, namely the form of a grand piano musical instrument. With this building form, it is expected to bring up a concept of contemporary architecture through a new form that has never existed before and is able to express the activities carried out in the main building.

Abstract

This study investigates the use of coal fly ash as a filler in Room Temperature Vulcanization (RTV) silicone rubber to enhance its mechanical properties. Fly ash, which contains silica, has the potential to improve the strength of the polymer. The research aims to optimize the composition of fly ash in RTV silicone rubber composites using the quadratic regression method, focusing on tensile strength and elongation performance. Tests were conducted according to ASTM D 412 standards for tensile strength and elongation. The results showed that the optimal fly ash composition for tensile strength was 38.11%, resulting in a tensile strength of 0.19 and a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of 13.64%. For elongation, the optimal composition was 14.95%, with an elongation value of 192.094 and a MAPE of 24.75%. This study provides valuable insights into how fly ash can be used to enhance the mechanical properties of RTV silicone rubber composites.
