<![CDATA[The pandemic period caused learning to take place online, so the delivery of character building (CB) in accordance with the school's mission, especially at SMPK Santa Maria I became more difficult for teachers. So that the community service team, with the support of the school principal, organized a CB delivery activity which included a mentoring process for teachers to create CB modules and webinar activities for all students which were divided per class 7, 8 and 9. After the activity was completed, an evaluation was carried out by a team of teachers appointed and it was reported that the level of student discipline in online learning had increased, and the motivation to learn and also the level of student motivation also experienced the same. However, the evaluation that is not well documented has become an obstacle in the implementation of the evaluation.]]>

<![CDATA[AbstrakProduk kebutuhan rumah tangga banyak menggunakan pembungkus plastik, sehingga banyak sampah plastik terbuang setiap hari. Untuk mencegah penumpukan sampah plastik, harus mencoba mengurangi dampak buruknya. Konsep pengelolaan sampah masih konvensional, menimbulkan masalah sosial (bau menyengat, sungai tercemar, terganggunya kesehatan). Kegiatan pengabdian ini melakukan pengelolaan sampah yang tepat menggunakan konsep kemitraan bersama masyarakat. Kegiatan dilaksanakan Desa Tonjung Kecamatan Burneh Kabupaten Bangkalan, bulan Januari sampai April 2019. Pengambilan sampah plastik di bagian hilir dekat dengan persawahan, dilakukan setiap hari dengan cara memasang jaring secara melintang di saluran irigasi. Jaring dipasang mulai pukul 05.00 wib hingga pukul 17.00 wib. Sampah plastik yang tertangkap jaring langsung ditimbang menggunakan timbangan analitik, selanjutnya dicuci bersih dan dikeringkan. Plastik yang sudah kering diolah menjadi produk daur ulang yang langsung digunakan oleh anggota kelompok tani Desa Tonjung. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa sampah plastik yang diambil dari saluran irigasi menunjukkan kuantitas yang relatif besar, yaitu 400 gr hingga 1000 gr per hari. Sampah berupa botol dan bungkus plastik didaur ulang menjadi pot hias dan tas cantik.]]>

<![CDATA[The community engagement activity is specifically designed to discover the impact of “The Snake” and “The Eagle” method in enhancing the teachers’ competence in English language teaching and learning. Contextually, the teaching method is closely related to the achievement of the goals of the teaching itself. Considering the importance of teaching approach, designing the class activities remains essential. This approach is considered to be simple and easy to internalize English learning materials such as new vocabularies and tenses, past tense for example. Therefore, the current research aims to discover how the implemented approach carries influencing outcomes to learning English. This activity engaged a number of English teachers in Pangongsean, Patapan, Bringin Nunggal villages in Torjun Sub-District, Sampang District. To reveal its impacts, we invited the English teachers in the given areas to engage in this practice so as to they are well informed about this teaching method. We also invited some students to have direct practices after the method insights given. Later, we did interview with English teachers to get to know how the teaching method would be useful in their context. Research shows that the method remains both useful and applicative for English teachers’ competence in teaching English. The other sides of the current research are the challenges faced. The students’ lack of vocabularies and low level of their motivation are problematic. In addition, having more time to practice the method is required so that we can give more room to both teachers and students to have more fun learning by using “Si Ular” dan “Si Elang” method in learning English.]]>

<![CDATA[Pada masa pandemik Covid-19 ini pemerintah menghimbau warga untuk meminimalkan pergi ke rumah sakit kecuali keadaan gawat. Bayi sakit kuning merupakan gangguan kesehatan yang umum terjadi pada bayi baru lahir dan bukan merupakan kondisi gawat kecuali bila telah muncul komplikasi. Solusi untuk masalah kesehatan bayi ini adalah memaukan keluarga untuk merawat bayi sakit kuning di rumah. Pemberdayaan masyarakat untuk mendampingi keluarga adalah Kader Posyandu. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan Kader Posyandu merawat bayi sakit kuning di rumah dengan benar. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan pada 35 orang kader yang berasal dari 7 Posyandu di wilayah Kecamatan Baros, Serang, Banten. Media penyuluhan menggunakan booklet dan video tutorial tentang perawatan bayi sakit kuning di rumah. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap: 1) Tahap persiapan menghasilkan rencana dan metode kegiatan, 2) Tahap pelaksanaan berupa kegiatan penyuluhan, 3) Tahap paska kegiatan berupa pendampingan melalui aplikasi whatsapp. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan dan kemampuan kader untuk mengidentifikasi: 1) penyebab dan gejala, 2) perawatan dan pemantauan bayi sakit kuning di rumah.]]>

<![CDATA[Pelecehan seksual bisa dialami oleh siapa saja dan dimana saja. Kampus yang seharusnya merupakan ruang publik yang aman, tidak lepas dari permasalahan pelecehan seksual. Pelecehan seksual di kampus tidak terlepas dari penyalahgunaan struktur kekuasaan, namun pelecehan seksual juga tidak menutup kemungkinan dilakukan oleh semua lapisan struktur yang ada di kampus. Permasalahannya adalah pelecehan seksual belum mendapat penanganan serius. Pengabdiam masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan sumbangsih edukasi terkait upaya pencegahan, perlawanan, literasi gender, dan juga perbaikan konstruksi sosial dimasyarakat terkait pelecehan seksual. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan dalam bentuk virtual talk show yang bekerjasama dengan komunitas Feminis Yogya dan komunitas Perempuan Hari Ini. Hasil pencapaian dari virtual talk show ini terlihat bahwa audiens mengetahui bentuk-bentuk kekerasan seksual, memahami rantai dampak dari pelecehan seksual, mempunyai pengetahuan tentang konstruksi sosial dan budaya yang membentuk normalisasi keadaan, memiliki pengetahuan tentang cara mencegah pelecehan seksual di kampus, memiliki pengetahuan terkait hal yang harus dilakukan ketika mendapatkan pelecehan seksual di kampus, dan pemahaman feminisme yang merujuk pada kemanusiaan.]]>

<![CDATA[The world began to be attacked by a new outbreak of Covid-19 that can infect people quickly, infect the respiratory tract and cause fatalities. To learn and improve knowledge about Covid-19 can be done through mobile devices. This research aims to create an application as a new normal guide to encounter the Covid-19 pandemic for the community, especially Mindahan Village. This application was developed with java programming language by utilizing android studio. <![CDATA[The current reality shows that there are many opportunities for scientific writing competitions for students, but there are still very few students who are interested in participating in these activities. This is due to a lack of self-confidence and student interest in participating in competitions. The objectives of the implementation of this service program are: 1) to educate students from an early age about qualitative research methods; 2) to improve the ability of early semester students in and preparation of scientific papers. The method used in this service program is the lecture method, the discussion / question and answer method and ends with an evaluation. Due to the current outbreak of COVID-19, the training method is carried out online. The implementation phase of the training was carried out on May 11, 2021, attended by 126 accounting students in the second and fourth semesters. At the end of the training stage, an evaluation is carried out to measure the level of student understanding of the training that is followed. The results of the evaluation showed that the training was carried out effectively. This is shown through the questionnaires distributed after attending the training, as many as 72.5% of the training participants stated that the preparation of scientific papers using qualitative methods was very easy to do, as many as 60% were interested in participating in scientific writing competitions in the future. 99.2% of the trainees are interested in learning more about scientific works that have been published and 100% of students are interested in further deepening their knowledge of qualitative research methods.]]>

<![CDATA[In order to improve the quality of Human Resources (HR) who worked in the village, training in the use of software is considered important because government programs sometimes only extend to the district or sub-district level. This service activity was entitled Provision of Software Use and Technology Understanding for village officials in Pasirukeum Village, Karawang Regency, West Java Province. The purpose of this training is to be able to provide increased capacity in the use of technology for village officials. Another goal is to provide an understanding of technology that village officials deem necessary to know, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, so that it is hoped that it can help village officials in efforts to improve the quality of their performance. The method used during the training is the lecture-discussion method by providing basic software exercises that can be used by village officials. This training has succeeded in providing solutions to existing problems by introducing and providing information related to the use of software such as Zoom Meeting Cloud, Google Meet, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.]]>

<![CDATA[Suku Polahi termasuk salah satu suku terasing di Indonesia dan memiliki kultur kebudayaan yang masih melekat kuat. Sampai saat ini aktifitas Suku Polahi dengan masyarakat luar masih sangat terbatas. Kontak langsung dengan Suku Polahi hanya dilakukan oleh masyarakat yang mencari rotan ke dalam hutan dan juga beberapa masyarakat dari Desa terdekat. Suku Polahi tinggal disepanjang hutan Boliyohuto di dalam kawasan konservasi Suaka Margasatwa Nantu. Suku Polahi untuk bertahan hidup menebang pohon untuk ditanami tanaman jagung dan juga dijual kepada pencari kayu di hutan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemaham kepada Suku Polahi tentang status Suaka Margasatwa Nantu yang harus dijaga, memberikan pemahaman tentang pelarangan penebangan pohon dan memberikan pelatihan cara menanam secara agroforestri. Hasil dari kegiatan ini memperlihatkan bahwa pengetahuan Suku Polahi tentang Agroforestri semakin bertambah, dimulai dengan cara pemilihan bibit pohon yang baik, cara penenaman denga metode konservasi dan cara untuk merawat serta menjaga bibit yang telah ditanam. Selain itu Suku Polahi telah memahami tentang status Suaka Margasatwa Nantu yang harus dijaga dan dilindungi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan bahwa Suku Polahi yang telah mengikuti kegiatan ini bisa mengajarkan pada Suku Polahi lainnya sehingga kelestarian Suaka Margasatwa Nantu dapat dijaga.]]>

<![CDATA[Covid-19 currently does not have a specific drug, while the drug used to treat exposed patients is a combination of several drugs. Likewise with vaccines, this virus has not been found for a vaccine until now. Therefore, what can be done to minimize exposure to Covid-19 is to avoid it. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there are several ways to prevent you from contracting the corona virus, namely, washing your hands frequently with soap or hand sanitizer, keeping your distance from other people, avoiding touching your eyes and nose and using masks. Through community service organized by the UTM Research and Community Service Institute, service is carried out with the theme of implementing appropriate technology as an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
