Abstract

Relocation of street vendors (PKL) in Malioboro Yogyakarta to Teras Malioboro 2 has triggered social resistance and policy communication challenges. Despite aiming to transform the area into a world-class cultural heritage destination, the relocation faced critical issues of information clarity, public participation, and justice perceptions. This study examines public communication strategies by local government and evaluates how relocation policy messages were received and interpreted by two key groups: vendors and visitors. Using a critical-constructivist qualitative approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with 13 informants (5 vendors, 3 vendor associations, 5 visitors) at Teras Malioboro. Thematic analysis revealed three core findings: (1) Information asymmetry caused confusion and distrust due to inconsistent policies and lack of transparency in stall allocation; (2) Minimal two-way dialogue intensified resistance, with vendors excluded from decision-making; (3) Divergent decoding positions (Hall’s theory) emerged: dominant acceptance (optimistic vendors), negotiated understanding (critical visitors), and opposition (marginalized vendors). Policy Implementation Theory (Pressman & Wildavsky) contextualizes communication gaps as implementation failures, while Stakeholder Theory (Freeman) highlights unbalanced interest management. Results emphasize the need for participatory, transparent, and culturally adaptive communication strategies in public space governance.

Abstract

The Osing culture in Kemiren Village, Banyuwangi, faces globalization challenges that shift the younger generation’s interest away from local traditions. Pesinauan serves as a community-based non-formal educational institution aimed at preserving cultural values, norms, and practices through dialogic and participatory group communication. This study employs the Group Achievement Theory, which emphasizes the roles of input, mediating variables, and output in group productivity. A qualitative approach with a case study method was chosen to explore the dynamics of group communication within Pesinauan. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s model. The results show that interactions in Pesinauan are active through cultural activities such as Mocoan Lontar Yusup, Gandrung Dance, and traditional crafts, using the Osing language as the medium of instruction. Communication patterns are egalitarian, involving elders, youth, and learners equally. Hands-on learning strengthens cultural identity, fosters creativity, and enhances collective awareness. Challenges such as intergenerational perception differences are managed through open deliberation. The discussion confirms that group communication in Pesinauan serves a dual function: as a medium for cultural knowledge transfer and as a means of character building based on local values. In conclusion, Pesinauan effectively functions as both a center for cultural preservation and an agent of Osing value regeneration, with its strengths lying in egalitarian communication, cross-generational engagement, and contextual learning that adapts to contemporary challenges.

Abstract

Novel sebagai salah satu bentuk media massa tidak terlepas dari ideologi penulisnya. Oleh karena itu, sebuah novel pastilah memiliki banyak makna tersembunyi dibalik kalimat-kalimat yang tertulis di dalamnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui dan menganalisis relasi kuasa serta sejarah Orde Baru yang ditampilkan dalam novel Laut Bercerita berdasarkan arkeologi pengetahuan Michel Foucault dan Discource Historical Approach (DHA) Ruth Wodak. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan tipe deskriptif, sementara teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa novel bukan hanya sekadar karya sastra yang mengisahkan tragedi penghilangan paksa pada masa akhir Orde Baru, tetapi juga menjadi representasi relasi kuasa yang bekerja melalui praktik pengawasan, kontrol, penindasan, serta produksi wacana oleh negara terhadap warganya. Melalui kerangka Analisis Wacana Kritis Michel Foucault, novel ini memperlihatkan bagaimana rezim Orde Baru membangun dan mempertahankan kekuasaannya melalui mekanisme disiplin, hukuman, dan manipulasi pengetahuan. Sementara pendekatan Ruth Wodak yang berfokus pada konteks historis dan sosial mengungkap bahwa wacana dalam novel ini erat kaitannya dengan peristiwa nyata sejarah Indonesia, khususnya praktik penyiksaan dan penghilangan paksa terhadap aktivis pro-demokrasi pada periode 1997-1998. Laut Bercerita mendokumentasikan ingatan kolektif tentang kekerasan negara yang selama bertahun-tahun direpresi dan disembunyikan, sekaligus menunjukkan bagaimana wacana perlawanan muncul dari kelompok yang tertindas. Oleh karena itu, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa Laut Bercerita berhasil menjadi medium resistensi sekaligus arsip kultural yang mengungkap relasi kuasa dan pelanggaran HAM pada akhir rezim Orde Baru. Novel ini menunjukkan bahwa kuasa tidak pernah tunggal sebab selalu terdapat wacana tandingan yang muncul melalui ingatan, cerita, dan keberanian untuk bersaksi.

Abstract

Digital developments lead companies to continuously innovate regarding promotions and corporate image to reach a wider audience. This study aims to determine the formation of Employee Brand Equity through Employee Generated Content using the @nadalasido account as a representation of PT Paragon’s employee creators. The research method uses qualitative with descriptive content analysis methods, with primary data sources taken directly from @nadalasido’s Tiktok videos related to the concepts of EBE and EGC. Data collection is carried out through documentation and tested through theory triangulation. The analysis of this study indicates that brand value representation can be formed naturally through employee’s digital expressions on personal accounts. The most prominent EBE element is Brand Consistent Behaviour, evident in consistent behaviour, visuals, and narratives that reflect PT Paragon’s value of professionalism, collaboration, and positive culture. Brand llegiance emerges through expressions of pride and enjoyable work experience, while Brand Endorsement emerges through of appearance of company products in everyday contexts without direct promotion. These findings demonstrate that employee creator can act as effective brand communicators. Thus, EGC contributes to strengthening EBE and helps build PT Paragons’s brand image in the digital space, particularly through TikTok.
