Abstract

Study the Role of Hedgerow Plants in Conservation of Dryland Farming Systems on Soil Physical Properties. To determine the effect of infiltration rate and soil physical properties, a study was conducted in the village Oebola, Fatuleu, Kupang district, from November 2008 to June 2009. The experiment was designed in Randomized Block Design (RBD), with four treatments and three replications. The treatments were three types of fencing plants in alley cropping systems i.e. white leadtree (Leucaena leucocephala), hummingbird tree (Sesbania grandiflora syn. Aeschynomene grandiflora), gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium), and the treatment without fencing plants as the control. The parameters observed were organic matter content, bulk density, field water content, maximum water content, aggregate stability, and infiltration rate. Data were analyzed statistically using the F-test and was continued with Duncan test if there was a difference among the treatments tested. The result showed that in the three fencing plants tested, gliricidia gave the best effect in the terms of organic matter content, field water content, maximum water content, and infiltration rate while bulk density of these three plants relatively performed the similar influence. Keywords: infiltration rate, soil physical properties, hedgerow

Abstract

Artificial bait for fishing rod is the key component for successful catch. Artificial bait is usually designed in certain ways that will attract fish to go after it. One of the design for artificial bait is the addition of phosphor in order to improve the bait’s ability to radiate light so fish will be attracted to go after it. The research is conducted in Kupang Bay, East Nusa Tenggara from April to May 2020. The method used is experimental fishing, with increasing amount of phosphor being used in every 60 grams of bait. There are four levels of treatment; without phosphor, 10 grams, 30 grams, and 50 grams of phosphor. The amount of fishing trips being repeated are 16. Result of the research shows that there are nine type of caught fish, which are Sphyraena sp, Lutjau ruselli, Caranx sexfasciatus, Plectropomus leopardus, Rastrelliger sp, Trichiurus lepturus, Lutjanus lutjanus, Lutjanus jocu, and Epinephelus coioides. The result of analysis of variance shows that increasing amount of phosphor significantly impact the amount of type of fish being caught. Using LSD test, it also shows a significant difference of type of catch between bait without and with phosphor. Based on catching point, there are four spots with overall bait treatment resulting in a catch. Those waters are Tenau, Kera, and Semau.

Abstract

This research was aimed to evaluate the effect of  level of Rhyzopus oligosporus and fermentation time on  crude protein and tannin   of  tamarind seed. This experiment was conducted in 2 treatment factors with 2 replication. The first factor was various level of  Rhyzopus oligosporus e.i. 1,2,3 kg/kg, and the second factor was time of fermentation e.i. 1,2,3, days. The results showed that there was no significantly effects among treatments on crude protein, but significant effect (P<0.05) on tannin by level of Rhyzopus oligosporus treatment, and time of fermentation, even those there was no interaction between each treatment. Tannin content decreased in line with increasing level of Rhyzopus oligosporus and time of fermentation. In conclusion, the best treatment was 3 g/kg  level of Rhyzopus oligosporus   with 3 days fermentation length.Key words:     Rhyzopus oligosphorus, Fermentation time, tamarind seed, crude protein, Tannin

Abstract

A good quality seed is obtained from good and appropriate production process. The use of good quality seeds could increase crop production plants, including Inerie variety of red bean. This plant could be grown in the lowlands having modified micro-climate. One simple technology to modify the micro-climate of the plant is through plant population density setting followed by the use of balanced fertilizer, including P fertilizer which could result in high quality seeds.  This research was conducted in the Practical Garden of Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic from April to November 2015. The results of the study  showed that 1) the population density affected the levels of seed free fatty acids in the lowest population density of 36 plants / 3 m2 (50 cm x 30 cm);  2) the doses of SP-36 fertilizer affected the germination percentage of the seeds at the highest dose of 200 kg / ha SP-36, and free fatty acid of the seed on lowest level without SP-36 fertilizer , and;  3) there was interaction between the treatment plant and the population density of the dose SP- 36 fertilization. Treatment population density of 36 plants (spacing of 50 cm x 20 cm) with a dose of SP-36 200 kg / ha was the best effect on the rate of growth of seeds, simultaneity sprouted seeds and the content of P-Total on Inerie variety of red beans planted in lowlands eventhough did not have a different result with a spacing of 40 x 20 cm with a dose of SP-36 200 kg / ha. The results of the study served as a model in the development of Inerie variety of red bean in lowlands. Keywords: Production, Quality, Seed, Inerie Red Beans, Lowlands
