Abstract

This research aims to analyze the syntax errors on writing essays to 25 practical literature participants in academic year2017 at FKIP University of Riau. It used qualitative descriptive. Source of research data obtained based on the collection of essays writing from participant contests. The data was taken from the language syntax errors analysis between phrases to phrase and clauses to clauses. The researcher used documentation as the technique such as reading collection of essays, classifying error analysis of language syntax, and analyzing the essays of participants. The pproceduress were: (1) selecting the language corpus, (2) identifying the errors in the corpus, (3) classifying the errors, (4) explaining the errors, and (5) evaluating the errors. There were 38 data with errors on phrases which include the addition of phrases in the object (B+S) were 15 data, the addition of words from or about in the phrase objects (B+B) were 3 data, the additional of words to Work in phrases (passive K+K) were 12 data and errors on the clause, and the additional of the preposition words between verbs and its object in clause were 8 active data.Keywords: Field of language syntax error, teaching literature, essays.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan: (1) untuk mendeskripsikan apakah model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (problem based instruction) lebih efektif daripada model konvensional dalam pembelajaran menulis karangan persusi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 22 Palembang; (2) untuk mengetahui apakah keefektifan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan persuasi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 22 Palembang; dan (3) untuk mengetahui apakah terjadi interaksi yang efektif antara model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan berpikir kritis terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan persuasi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 22 Palembang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 22 Palembang tahun pelajaran 2011/2012. Jumlah populasi 262 orang. Sampel diambil dua kelas secara acak yakni 84 siswa, terdiri dari 42 siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran berbasis masalah (PBI) kelas eksperimen, dan 42 siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensioanal (KV) kelas kontrol. Hasil analisis diketahui  sebesar 5,460 pada taraf signifikan 0,022, berarti hipotesis diterima. (2) kemampuan berpikir kritis efektif terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan persuasi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 22 Palembang. Hasil analisis diketahui sebesar 4,297 pada taraf signifikan 0,017, berarti hipotesis diterima. (3) tidak terjadi interaksi yang efektif antara model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan berfikir kritis terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan persuasi siswa kelas  X SMA Negeri 22 Palembang. Hasil analisis diketahui  sebesar 0,306 pada taraf signifikan 0,737, berarti hipotesis ditolak.Kata kunci: model pembelajaran berbasis masalah, berpikir kritis, kemampuan menulis,   karangan persusi.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini adalah peneliti deskriptif yang bertujuan untukmendeskripsikan penyimpangan maksim-maksim prinsip kerja sama dalamtayangan komedi Opera Van Java dan efek yang ditimbulkan akibatpenyimpangan maksim-maksim prinsip kerja sama tersebut. Sumber data dalampenelitian ini didapatkan dari hasil rekaman tayangan komedi Opera Van Javapada tanggal 20 September 2012 dengan judul episode “Misteri Nina Bobo” dantanggal 21 September 2012 dengan judul episode “Buto Cakil Anak Arjuna”.Adapun wacana yang diteliti adalah adegan yang berisi cerita atau dialog darisetiap tuturan pemain komedi Opera Van Java. Hasil yang diperoleh dari acarakomedi Opera Van Java, para pemain OVJ dengan sengaja melakukanpenyimpangan terhadap empat maksim yang terdapat di dalam prinsipkerjasama, yaitu penyimpangan maksim kuantitas, penyimpangan maksimkualitas, penyimpangan maksim relevansi, dan penyimpangan maksimpelaksanaan dengan maksud menimbulkan kelucuan. Secara keseluruhan hasilpenelitian ini menggambarkan bentuk penyimpangan prinsip kerja sama yangdilakukan para pemain komedi OVJ telah berhasil menimbulkan kelucuan atauhumor yang terkesan wajar tidak dibuat-buat dan tidak monoton bagi penontonkomedi OVJ.Kata-kata kunci: maksim kerja sama.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini membahas analisis wacana kritis berita kriminal pada Sriwijaya Post, Sumatera Ekpress, dan Berita Pagi. Masalah dalam penelitian ini, yaitu bagaimana strategi penulis menyembunyikan ideologinya dalam pemberitaan dilihat dari struktur mikro semantik, sintaksis, stilistik, dan retoris; ideologi apa yang tersembunyi di pemberitaan kriminal di media massa cetak Sriwijaya Post, Sumatera Ekpress, dan Berita Pagi; bagaimana perbandingan ideologi Sriwijaya Post, Sumatera Ekpress, dan Berita Pagi dalam pemberitaan kriminal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode padan.Sumber data penelitian ini adalah berita kriminal di media massa cetak Sriwijaya Post, Sumatera Ekpress, dan Berita Pagi edisi Januari 2016, dengan teknik analisis data: melakukan AWK terhadap strategi yang dilakukan oleh wartawan dalam struktur mikro semantik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Sumatera Ekspress lebih menganggap berita kriminal adalah berita penting dibandingkan kedua media massa lainnya. Sedangkan dari cara penggambaran pelaku, Berita Pagi lebih  menekankan pada kekejaman pelaku. Kata-kata kunci: analisis wacana kritis, media massa, berita kriminal

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The problem in the research is whether the hermeneutic method could increase the students‘ understanding in cultural values at SMP LTI IGM Palembang. It aims to find out whether the hermeneutic method could or could not increase the students‘ understanding in cultural values. The reserach used pretest-posttest control group design. In experiment class, the mean value in pretest was 58 and the posttest score was 78 with gain score 20. Kn control class, the mean value in pretest was 57 and the posttest score was 74 with gain score 17. After evaluation, the mean value in the posttest of students‘ results in understanding the shortsory text, both classes got significant value 0,000 which is less than significant alpha 0,05. It can be concluded that the hermeneutic method could increase the students‘ understanding in cultural values through undertanding local shortstories in Sumatera Selatan. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Second language educators realize the importance of teaching pronunciaation skills explicitly, but they still do not give much attention in their methodologies. They are not reluctant to teach pronunciation skills, but they do not know the best methods for helping students achieve adequate pronunciation skills. The main ideas of pronunciation teaching are twofold: to develop intelligible speech and to be able to effectively communicate in the target language. The main goal of this paper is to suggest possible benefits for English learners realized for multimedia teaching technique for pronunciations skills. Key words: multimedia, pronunciation, English language teaching

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to find out whether or not there were any significant differences in students’ writing skill achievement between those who used Roundtable Activity and those who used Picture. The population of the study was the second year students at the school in academic year 2003/2004. Stratified random sampling was used in choosing the sample. The total number of the sample was 98 students; 49 were in the experimental group and the rest were in the control group one. The non equivalent control group design was used in conducting this research. The students in the experimental group were taught by using Roundtable Activity as the medium while those in another group were taught by using picture. The instruments used in collecting the data were the English writing tests and questionnaire. The data obtained from the tests were analyzed using Chi-square analysis on the help of SPSS program for windows to find out the relationship between variables of Roundtable Activity and Picture to the students’ writing skill achievement. The students in experimental group tended to have more significant achievement in making paragraph writing than their peers in control group. They tended to be more active in using Roundtable Activity as one of the prewriting techniques in making paragraph writing. Based on the result of the questionnaire, the use of Roundtable Activity was acceptable and also applicable since it helped them to find ideas in the prewriting stage of making paragraph writing.Key words: roundatable activity, picture,writing skill.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study was aimed at identify the students’ ability and factors influence the ability in listening short conversation. Thisstudy used descriptive method.The population of this study was all students of first semester of English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Baturaja University with the total number were 60 students in academic year 2016/2017 and the sample was 40 students which are chosen by using slovin formula. The data obtained through listening test and close ended questionnaire and were analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique.The result of the study showed that there were 18 students (45%) at the very good level, 10 students (25%) at good level, 8 students (20%) at average level, and 4 students (10%) at poor level but based on the table of the score range and percentage at all. They were in very good level. The result of the questionnaire showed the factors that influence  most the students’ ability in listening short conversation were: teacher employed under short conversation material taught to students and facilities provided by the university support fot teaching and learning process of listening.Key words: identifying, listening, short conversation

Abstract

ABSTRACT : The aim of this research is to describe the moral values  of  the novel Kado untuk Putri Ungu written by Syamsa Hawa. The subject of this study is the novel Kado untuk Putri Ungu written by Syamsa Hawa and object of this study is moral values of Kado untuk Putri Ungu written by Syamsa Hawa. The data collection is documentation. The results of documentation is analyzed by using descriptive qualitative method. Based on the results of this research, the researcher found out that novel Kado untuk Putri Ungu written by Syamsa Hawa contained the moral values as follows: 1) the relationship between human and herself, 2) the relationship between human and human, 3) the relationship between human and God. Keywords: moral values, novel, Kado untuk Putri Ungu.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to find out whether or not it was effective to use guessing words in teacing speaking to the eighth grade students of MTs Nurussalam OKU Timur. Pre experimental was used in this study, with 33 students chosen as the sample by using convenience sampling. The data obtained were statistically analyzed by using t-test. The result of the pair sample t-test showed that the value of t-obtained was 4.635, where the critical value was 2.035 at the significant level ɑ = 0.05 and degree of freedom was 32. Since the t-obtained was higher than the critical value, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. It could be concluded that it was effective to use guessing words in teaching speaking to the eight grade students of MTs Nurussalam OKU Timur.This is also implies the guessing words game expected to enhance students’ motivation and interesting in learning activities, so they can improve their speaking achievement. Keywords:Teaching, Speaking, and Guessing Words.
