Jurnal Studi Agama dan Masyarakat (JSAM) is an academic journal, publishing two issues per year (June and December). JSAM is published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat of Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Palangka Raya, Indonesia. This journal seeks to provide a venue for sharing new empirical research and theoretical analysis of intersections between religion and societies. JSAM publishes original works that contribute to scientific discussion of the relationship between Islam and societies. The journal’s primary focus is on contemporary issues of Islam and culture, politics, economics, law, communication, and history within Indonesian contexts such as local wisdom, multiculturalism and pluralism. However, works on the issues of world religions and global societies are welcome.

Abstract

This study is to explore the gender construction to the Dayaknese women reproduction health myth in Palangkaraya. This study used descriptive qualitative type. To take sample of this study was done by random sampling.The population target of this study were choosen by using special selection that of the subject of this study were the inhabitant who lives in Palangka Raya without using gender discriminated.  The mythes which are related to dayaknese women reproduction health showed that there were some related to gender construction which was full gender imbalances. If they are related to the myth, so the distinction system between woman and man are constructed to some mythes.The above mythes declared that the real gender constructions were from the way of men to think, so it showed that the wowen had restrictiveness to make action in their daily life.  The above mythes declared that the pregnant woman should not sew the cloth, go fishing, sit with the legs crossed, should use rings in her anklet, should abstain to eat some food. It showed that the systems of men thoughts were to delimitate of women actions.

Abstract

Critical Thinking Skills is an activity or a process of analyzing , explaining and developing or selecting ideas , includes categorizing , comparing and contracting ( contrasting ) , examine arguments and assumptions , completing and evaluating the conclusions of induction and deduction , set priorities and make choices. There are three terms related to thinking skills , which is actually quite different ; ie higher-level thinking (high level thinking) , think complex (complex thinking) , and critical thinking (critical thinking). Thinking skills is actually a skill that can be learned and taught , both at school and through independent study. Noteworthy in the teaching of thinking skills is that skills must be done through exercise that is appropriate to the stage of cognitive development of learners.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendiskripsikan apa yang melatarbelakangi masyarakat Palangka Raya melaksanakan tradisi menunggu kuburan, tata cara proses pelaksanaan menunggu kuburan, tinjauan Islam tentang tradisi menunggu kuburan di Palangka Raya.Metode dalam penelitian ini penulis mengunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, berusaha mengerti dan memahami suatu peristiwa dan kaitan-kaitannya terhadap orang-orang biasa dalam studi tertentu. Dalam menentukan subjek penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yaitu peneliti mengambil subjek penelitian di masyarakat berdasarkan kriteria tertentu.Dari  penelitian  yang  telah  dilakukan  berdasarkan  prihal  yang  melatar belakangi dan motivasi masyarakat Palangkaraya dalam pelaksanaan tradisi menunggu kuburan adalah disebabkan (1) Tradisi turun-temurun dilaksanakan dan (2) Merupakan wujud ikhtiar keluarga agar keluarga dimudahkan dan diampuni dosanya serta dilindungi dari azab kubur. Pada pelaksanaan menunggu kuburan dilaksanakan  (1)  Membaca  Alqur’an  sampai  30  juz  selama  3  hari  menunggu kuburan  (2)  diadakan  acara  batamat  (khatmul  qur’an).  Batamat  merupakan prosesi   terakhir   dalam   tradisi   ini   di   dalamnya   pelaksanaannya    keluarga menyiapkan piduduk dan nasi ketan. Dalam pelaksanaannya penulis menemukan etika atau perilaku yang tidak dapat dibenarkan yang dilakukan oleh orang yang menuggu kuburan yaitu tidur di atas kubur. Menurut tinjauan hukum Islam tradisi ini dikategorikan  sebagai adat (‘urf). Urf  dalam pelaksanaan tradisi menunggu kuburan, urf terdiri dua macam yaitu ‘urf shahih dan‘urf fasid. Tradisi menuggu kuburan ini dapat dikatakan urf Shahih disebabkan:1) Tradisi ini bertujuan ikhtiar dari hamba Allah SWT yang lemah, dengan mendo’akan  yang orang yang ada dalam kubur agar Allah memberi rahmat untuk orang yang meninggal 2)  Bertujuan Agar menjaga kuburan agar tidak dicuri. 3)  Tidak  mengakibatkan  mudharat  bagi  yang  melaksanakan  tradisi  menunggu kubur,          Sedangakan   Tradisi   menuggu   kuburan   ini   dapat   dikatakan   urf   fasid disebabkan:1) Terdapat unsur mudharat bagi orang yang menunggu kuburan, seperti dalam pelaksanaannya orang yang menunggu kuburan jadi sakit. 2)  Didasari dengan niat yang tidak bersandar kepada Allah SWT, yaitu bertujuan agar selama tradisi ini malaikat tidak datang untuk menanyai jenazah di kubur.          Dalam pelaksanaannya tradisi menuggu kuburan ini termasuk ke dalam urf shaheh, disebabkan karena tradisi ini bertujuan menjaga dan mendo’akan kuburan semata-mata mengharapkan perlindungan dari Allah SWT agar keluarga yang meninggal diampuni dosa-dosan.

Abstract

 This article contains about study of multicultural values in the tafsîr Imām Fakhruddîn Al-Rāzî (Mafātîḥul Ghaib), which has different specification from other tafsir in the same era. It includes many arguments about theology and fiqh. Furthermore, the multicultural values in this tafsîr are implemented on the development approach of learning tafsîr. This study used library research with phenomenology approach by seeing the reality of tafsîr Imām Fakhruddîn Ar-Rāzî which is accepted and refered by many of firqah, besides tafsîr Maudhū’i is used tool to make the study of tafsir Imām Fakhruddîn Ar-Rāzî deeper. The result of this study consist of two parts: 1) An explanation of multicultural values concepts in tafsîr Mafātîḥul Ghaib, 2) Multicultural approach learning as the result of implementing multicultural values on learning approach.

Abstract

The main motivation of this article is to explore the trend of modern people in using of technology development in some sectors especially in government bureaucracy. The purpose of  this article is to discuss the existence and e-government law status in logical benefit. Normative study in Islamic law is done by the primary, secondary, tertiary case that can be displayed through the inductive and deductive method used by contextual approach model. Analysis data were done by the content analysis that was supported by adaptional-participational theory. E-government is a contemporer problem that can be seen in the study of laws pertaining to ritual obligations. The present of e-government is to increase the efectiveness to work in giving the best service to Indonesian people. There are some advantages that can be gotten and proved empirically by the implementation of e-government. The problems were limited the number of qualified human resources and infrastructure to support of the e-government. The government’ attention to the implementation of e-gov is very important. Therefore, significantly, e-gov is as the information publication medium, interaction, and transaction forum. These advantages could be primary, logically, and it was not in contradiction to the Islamic law. At the present, e-gov should be applied in the real life. Meanwhile, if the process and outcome of the implementation of e-gov can be found some distortion, so e-gov is a activity that is forbidden to be done.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of the mastery of vocabulary, syntax, and reading interest towards the comprehension of English reading texts. This research is an ex-post facto, involving three independent variables and one dependent variable. The mastery of vocabulary is the first independent variable (X1), syntax is the second independent variable (X2), and reading interest is the third independent variable (X3). The comprehension of English reading texts is the dependent variable (Y). This research was conducted at State College of Islamic Studies (STAIN) Palangka Raya in academic year 2008/2009. Among 249 students, only 151 were used as sample, selected using the proportional cluster random sampling. The research instruments used tests and questionnaires. The data are analyzed using multiple regression statistics analysis technique and partial correlation.            The result of descriptive analysis indicates that the mastery of vocabulary is in very good category (70.20%), syntax is in good category (57.61%), reading interest is in good category (67.54%), and the comprehension of English reading texts is in good category (52.32%). The result of multiple regression indicates that the mastery of vocabulary, syntax, and reading interest in aggregate influences the comprehension of English reading texts (F = 13.121 sig. ρ < 0.05). As many as 64.1% variance of the comprehension of English reading texts is determined by the mastery of vocabulary, syntax, and reading interest. The result of the partial correlation indicates that the mastery of vocabulary influences the comprehension of English reading texts (r = 0.504 sig. ρ < 0.05) with a contribution as many as 22.6%. Syntax influences the comprehension of English reading texts (r = 0.619 sig. ρ < 0.05) with a contribution as many as 25.6%. Reading interest influences the comprehension of English reading texts (r = 0.242 sig. ρ < 0.05) with a contribution as many as 16.9%.

Abstract

Dalam khazanah pemikiran Islam, sosok Al-Ghazâlî adalah ikon yang sangat penting.  Al-Subki pernah dengan tegas berkata: “Jika ada nabi lagi setelah Muhammad, maka Al-Ghazâlî -lah orangnya”. Lewat studi naskah, penulis makalah ini mencoba untuk menguak salah satu dari risalah-risalah sufistiknya. Di  karyanya ini, Al-Ghazâlî mendeskripsikan bagaimana sesungguhnya “keterjebakan” (al-ghurûr) berbagai golongan manusia dalam mengarungi kehidupan ini. Dengan gaya bahasa dan penjelasan yang lugas - pada risalah “Ashnâf Al-Maghrûrîn”- Al-Ghazâlî akhirnya telah melakukan sebuah proses - yang dalam bahasa postmodernisme  adalah dekonstruksi paradigma terhadap pola keberagamaan manusia.

Abstract

Monokotomic education is the educational system construction of the plenary which is capable of integration educational value of domain-oriented humanitarian and religious by a nature.The education system also implies an attitude of valuing differences in values, norms, culture and tradition (Multiculturalism) as well as of the religious aspect of pluralism as a consequence of the Muslims. Therefore, there needs to be a paradigm in education it is necessary to elaborate on the elements of cultural pluriformity become construction between the wisdom or community – read the culture. It is intended as an attempt to construct a more civilized society structure, harmonious, and prosperous with cache while respecting cultural differences. Konstruks education is believed to be supporting the formation of communities of multiculturalism and pluralism in this modern era; where the whole community with all the elemental sued for bears fate and interdependence together for the creation of a lasting peace. Therefore, education (Islamic) multiculturalism with the paradigm of monokotomic need to be constructed which will later put forward positional egalitarian culture system at all, so its able to eliminate the superiority-inferiority between one culture and other cultures. Where he will give a positive effect against civic buildings marked with the behavior or attitude of mutual respect and respect the differences, open minded, and mutual understanding as well as giving understanding among community members. Abstrak: Pendidikan monokotomik merupakan konstruksi sistem pendidikan paripurna yang mampu mengintegralisasikan nilai pendidikan yang berorientasi pada domain kemanusiaan dan kealaman dengan keagamaan. Sistem pendidikan demikian berimplikasi pada suatu sikap menghargai perbedaan tata nilai, norma, budaya dan tradisi (multikulturalisme) termasuk juga dari aspek agama sebagai konsekuensi dari pandangan pluralisme umat Islam. Oleh sebab itu, paradigma yang perlu ada dalam pendidikan perlu untuk mengelaborasi elemen-elemen kemajemukan budaya menjadi konstruksi kearifan antar golongan atau komunitas –baca budaya. Hal ini dimaksudkan sebagai upaya untuk membangun struktur masyarakat yang lebih beradab, harmonis, dan sejahtera dengan tetap menghargai khazanah perbedaan budaya. Konstruks pendidikan ini yang diyakini akan menyokong terbentuknya masyarakat multikulturalisme dan pluralisme di era modern ini; di mana seluruh masyarakat dengan segala unsurnya dituntut untuk saling tergantung dan menanggung nasib secara bersama-sama demi terciptanya perdamaian abadi. Oleh sebab itu, pendidikan (Islam) multikulturalisme dengan paradigma monokotomik perlu untuk dikonstruksi yang nanti akan mengedepankan posisional egaliter pada semua sistem kebudayaan, sehingga mampu menghilangkan superioritas-inferioritas antara satu kebudayaan dengan kebudayaan lainnya. Di mana ia akan memberikan efek positif terhadap bangunan kemasyarakatan yang ditandai dengan perilaku atau sikap saling menghargai dan menghormati dalam perbedaan, open minded, dan saling memahami serta memberi pengertian antar anggota masyarakat.

Abstract

The problems of the study were: 1) the role of Darussalam Mosque in Palangka Raya, 2) the problems in maximizing the role of Darussalam Mosque in Palangka Raya, and 3) the implementation solutions of the role of Darussalam Mosque in Palangka Raya.The study used descriptive qualitative. The methods applied in the study covered: a) participatory observation, b) in-depth interview, and c) documentation. The data analysis applied in the study covered: a) data collection, b) data reduction, c) data display, and d) drawing conclusion and verification.  The results of the study could be described as follows: 1) the Palangka Raya Darussalam Mosque was functioned for education and da’wa. This could be seen from education activities and da’wa such as the 7-minute Islamic preaching during the Ramadhan, Islamic teaching for Muslim female, kindergarten and Qur’anic education school (TK-TPA), the Islamic preaching for Friday prayers and Holy days (the Fitri and Adha days), and the celebration of Islamic Great Days (PHBI). 2) As for social functions, it could be seen in wedding ceremony, witnessing to embrace Islam for new Muslim followers (muallaf), meeting for mosque board members, accepting the visiting of guests both from the government officers and Islamic mass organization, giving aids for the poor through iftar activity, distributing the zakat in the Fitri days, and distributing meat at the Adha days. 3) The mosque was also functioned as art and culture covering the Maulid Habsyi activity, MTQ (Qur’anic Reciting Competition), the Anak Saleh festivals, religious competitions, boy scouting for TK-TPA students around Palangka Raya.

Abstract

Inculcated early education for children unfamiliar with religious activities, one of them through educational institutions such as Raudhatul RA. RA. Daruttaqwa district. Sabangau city of Palangkaraya a religious educational institution for young children to group B via the planting of religious values and development patterns of religious planting a curriculum development in RA. Daruttaqwa district. Sabangau. The study used a qualitative approach with descriptive research approach. The research findings illustrate: First, the material guidance of Islam early childhood group B in RA Daruttaqwa District of Sabangau city of Palangkaraya, guided by the Curriculum 2003 is the standard early childhood education levels of TK / RA, in outline form of education aqidah, moral education / behavior / attitude and education of worship and good deeds. Second, coaching strategies Islam early childhood group B in RA Daruttaqwa District of Sabangau city of Palangkaraya, is the strategy of learning through play, stories and singing are given integrated Islamic education every capability or activity, by combining education aqidah, and ethics / behavior with basic capabilities, the theme and sub themes through activities / techniques / methods in RA Daruttaqwa
