Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the Active Knowledge Sharing strategy combined with Instagram Reels as a digital media platform in teaching maharah kalam (Arabic speaking skills) among eighth-grade students at MTs Aisyiyah 1 Palembang. The study employs a mixed method approach, integrating both qualitative and quantitative data through classroom observation, interviews, and pre-test/post-test instruments. The implementation process revealed that students were actively engaged in learning activities, particularly in creating short video dialogues using Arabic expressions. The findings indicate a significant improvement in students' speaking abilities, supported by increased motivation, collaboration, and creativity during the learning process. The use of Instagram Reels effectively enhanced students' confidence and participation, making learning more enjoyable and relevant to their digital-oriented lifestyle. This study suggests that integrating familiar digital platforms with collaborative strategies can provide a meaningful impact on language learning outcomes. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of aligning instructional design with learners' media habits to create more engaging and contextualized experiences. Abstract

This research is motivated by the issues faced in the 9th grade of SMP IT Al-Hijrah Medan, where student participation and activity in Arabic language learning are still low, as well as the discrepancy between theory and the application of the Index Card Match strategy. The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation of the Index Card Match strategy in Arabic language learning in the 9th grade of SMP IT Al-Hijrah Medan and to identify the obstacles and problems faced. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. The data was collected through observation, documentation, and interviews, followed by analysis in three main steps: data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The data was then validated using triangulation techniques. The results of the study explain that the problems encountered in the implementation of the Index Card Match strategy in Arabic language learning include the limited time allocation given by the school for Arabic lessons, students' limited vocabulary (mufrodat), as well as limitations in students' academic abilities and educational backgrounds.

Abstract

The Takhasis Program at Darul Arafah Raya Islamic Boarding School aims to enhance the Arabic language comprehension of senior high school students through effective and innovative teaching methods. This study analyzes the implementation of Arabic language sciences instruction in the third-year Dyah class of the Takhasis Program using a descriptive qualitative approach, through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that both grammatical and communicative approaches are applied based on the students' initial abilities. Students with a general junior high school background face difficulties in understanding nahwu and sharaf, while those from Islamic junior high schools (MTs) have a better grasp of the material but still lack speaking skills. Students from Salafi pesantren have strong grammatical and textual proficiency but are weak in oral communication. Supporting factors include student motivation, a conducive boarding school environment, and teacher competence; whereas inhibiting factors involve differences in educational background, limited study time, and a lack of varied learning media. The study concludes that teaching strategies must be adapted to students' educational backgrounds, along with the effective use of diverse media and a supportive environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Qur'anic reading habits on the maharah qira'ah (Arabic reading skills) of students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyyah (MI) in Menteng, Medan. The background of this research is grounded in the importance of reading proficiency in Arabic language education, along with the limited number of quantitative studies that link religious habits with students' linguistic achievement. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach. Data were collected through a questionnaire measuring Qur'anic reading habits and a qira'ah test assessed using a rubric that evaluated aspects such as articulation (makhraj), reading accuracy, fluency, and vocabulary mastery (mufradat). A purposive sample of 30 MI students was selected. The results of the validity and reliability tests confirmed that the instruments used were both valid and reliable. The Spearman correlation analysis revealed a coefficient of rs = 0.8055 with a p-value < 0.01, indicating a very strong and statistically significant relationship between Qur'anic reading habits and maharah qira'ah. These findings suggest that regular engagement with Qur'anic reading contributes not only to students' spiritual growth but also positively influences their Arabic reading proficiency. This study offers meaningful insights for the development of Arabic language teaching strategies that are integrated with religious practices.

Abstract

War and collective trauma often appear in modern Arabic literature, especially in works that reflect the socio-political conditions in the Arab world. Shahad al-Rawi's novel Sa'atu al-Baghdad depicts childhood experiences in Baghdad during war, embargo, and destruction. The narrative of this novel is not only built from the story, but also from the structure and complex relationships between characters. This study aims to analyze the narrative structure of the novel using A. J. Greimas' narrative semiotics approach, especially the actant scheme and functional structure. The method used is qualitative-descriptive with reading and note-taking techniques. The results of the study show that the main character acts as a subject who is driven by past memories to find the meaning of life. The relationship between actants such as family, friends, and lovers acts as supporters, while war and trauma act as opponents that strengthen the dynamics of the story. The functional structure describes the psychological transformation of the main character from an initial peaceful situation, experiencing an existential crisis, to achieving inner stability. Greimas' narrative semiotic theory successfully reveals the depth of the story structure and meaning of this novel. This study contributes to the narrative analysis of modern Arabic novels by applying Greimas' semiotic model, which has never been used before in this literary text.

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of tashgir in the Qur'an from morphological and semantic perspectives, aiming to understand the forms and meanings embedded in the use of tashgir within the sacred text. Tashgir, as a feature of ilmu sharaf (Arabic morphology), functions not only as a grammatical device to express diminutiveness but also as a rhetorical and emotional element that enriches the Qur'anic message. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a linguistic approach. Primary data consists of Qur'anic verses containing tashgir, while secondary data is drawn from classical works of tafsir, nahwu, and sharaf. The results reveal that tashgir in the Qur'an serves multiple semantic functions, including: (1) diminutive physical size (e.g., ذَرَّةٍ, ٱلۡجُودِیِّ), (2) reduction of sin magnitude (اللَّمَمَ), (3) expression of affection (بُنَيّ), (4) enhancement of rhetorical effect within narratives (ٱلۡأَبۡوَٟبَ, كِتَابَهُۥ), and (5) reinforcement of moral and spiritual messages (رَجُلَيْنِ, شَيْخًا). Interpretations by classical scholars indicate that tashgir is perceived holistically in the Qur'an-not merely as a morphological process, but as a linguistic strategy imbued with theological and emotional significance. Thus, this study underscores the importance of mastering ilmu sharaf and semantic context to enrich Qur'anic interpretation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, specifically ChatGPT, in Arabic language learning at the Arabic Language and Literature Study Program, STAIN Mandailing Natal. Using a mixed methods approach and an explanatory sequential design, this study collected quantitative data through a questionnaire followed by qualitative interviews to explore students' experiences. The results indicate that the majority of students experienced a significant improvement in their understanding of Arabic language material, particularly in translation and writing, thanks to ChatGPT's assistance. This technology also enhances students' motivation and learning autonomy. However, several challenges were identified, such as inaccuracies in ChatGPT's responses, limitations in understanding cultural context, and the potential for excessive reliance on technology. This study concludes that while ChatGPT offers significant benefits in the Arabic language learning process, its use must be balanced with faculty guidance and digital literacy training to ensure appropriate and responsible use. Therefore, this study recommends the development of more adaptive AI-based learning strategies and the integration of ethical guidelines in the use of technology in higher education.

Abstract

The use of audio-visual media in Arabic learning in MAN 1 Medan, especially class X, faces challenges such as limited teachers' ability to use it and diverse student responses. Although it has the potential to increase student motivation and understanding, its effectiveness is not optimal. An in-depth analysis is needed to identify the forms of use, advantages, disadvantages, and impacts, as well as provide more effective development recommendations. The method used is qualitative descriptive with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman techniques, including reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. Triangulation is carried out to ensure the validity of the data. The results of this study are the use of audio-visual media in Arabic language learning in class X MAN 1 Medan including videos, presentation slides, and audio recordings. This media improves students' motivation, vocabulary comprehension, pronunciation, and sentence structure. However, the limitations of technology and the variation in students' focus are obstacles. As a Conclusion, audio-visual media is effective in improving the quality of Arabic language learning, although challenges such as device limitations and direct interaction still exist. It is recommended that teachers be more innovative, supported by adequate technological facilities, and the use of this media is balanced with other methods for optimal results.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the learning of khat ar-rabi at the Al-husna Marindal Islamic boarding school in increasing the learning interest of grade VIII students. This study uses a qualitative research method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data obtained was then analyzed descriptively.this research was carried out at the AL-Husna Marindal Islamic Boarding School, Khat Learning is also included in the maharah kitabah. The research wanted to find out how the students in increasing their interest in learning khat in grade VIII and the students were not able to write neatly. The learning of khat al-arabi at the Al-Husna Marindal Deli Serdang Islamic Boarding School also aims to increase the awareness and skills of students in various aspects, such as awareness of religious values and skills in creating beautiful works of art. Class VIII students who take part in khat learning in their class only some like and others do not like khat learning and there are several factors, namely lack of awareness for interest in participating in khat learning. Types of methods in khat : demonstration method, copying method, plagiarizing method, lecture method and assignment method. Khat learning at the Al-husna Marindal Islamic boarding school to increase the learning interest of students/students can use Effective Learning methods, student involvement, planning and evaluation, individual skills.

Abstract

Although much research has been conducted on plans involving MoU memorandums of understanding between countries, there is still very little research discussing the benefits of MoU memorandums of understanding for Arabic language learning in higher education. Therefore, this research aims to see the effectiveness of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Indonesia and developed countries in the economic (technological) sector on Arabic language learning in higher education. This research is included in qualitative research with a bibliographic type (reviewing literature and analyzing relevant topics). Data collection techniques use secondary data indirectly by examining related objects. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive qualitative methods in the form of written sentences and concluding the results based on previous research. The results of the research show that the effectiveness of MOU for Arabic language learning in higher education is in the form of digitalization of Arabic language learning, iconic Arabic language education majors, Arabic language as a patent curriculum, opportunities for self-development for a career on the world stage. Apart from that, the research results also show that there is an impact of the memorandum of understanding on Arabic language learning in universities in the form of a shift in interest from Arabic language learners, foreign languages becoming local content in universities, Indonesia's dependence on foreign products in facilitating Arabic language learning, misuse of technology (changes in norms and immoral acts). This research implies the importance of Arabic language educators as facilitators who continue to monitor the progress of learning in the classroom, as well as the government as a policy maker to be aware of the conveniences provided by outside parties so that they are not complacent.
