Abstract

Canine transmissible venereal tumor (CTVT) merupakan tumor ganas pada organ genital anjing yang bersifat menular melalui implantasi sel tumor yang terdapat dalam membran mukosa pada saat kawin, menjilati, menggigit, berkelahi, atau berbagai bentuk kontak langsung. Hewan kasus merupakan seekor anjing lokal berjenis kelamin betina yang berumur 1,5 tahun dengan bobot badan 10,45 kg dengan keluhan terdapat benjolan pada daerah vagina sekitar 2 bulan terakhir dan keluar tetesan darah dari vaginanya. Berdasarkan anamnesis, pemeriksaan fisik, dan pemeriksaan penunjang yang meliputi pemeriksaan hematologi, ditemukan bahwa anjing kasus mengalami anemia makrositik hipokromik, pada pemeriksaan sitologi ditemukan adanya intranuclear dan intrasitoplasma vakuola CTVT, serta pemeriksaan histopatologi ditemukan adanya limfoblas dan limfosit yang bersifat homogen, sel mitosis, dan stroma jaringan ikat, sehingga anjing kasus didiagnosa menderita Canine Transmissible Venereal Tumor. Penanganan CTVT dilakukan melalui tindakan pembedahan dan kemoterapi. Preoperasi diberikan premedikasi atropine sulfat dengan dosis 0,02 mg/kg BB secara subkutan, dan dianestesi menggunakan kombinasi ketamin-xylazine dengan dosis masing-masing 2 mg/kg BB dan 12 mg/kg BB secara intravena. Tindakan pembedahan dilakukan dengan eksisi massa tumor pada daerah vagina. Pascaoperasi diberikan cefotaxime dengan dosis 25 mg/kg BB secara intravena dua kali dalam sehari dan analgesik tolfenamic acid dengan dosis 4 mg/kg BB secara intramuscular satu kali dalam sehari. Dilanjutkan pada hari kedua dengan pemberian obat secara oral yaitu antibiotik cefixime dengan dosis 5 mg/kg BB diberikan dua kali dalam sehari selama lima hari, meloxicam dengan dosis 0,1 mg/kg BB diberikan satu kali dalam sehari selama lima hari. Sangobion kapsul diberikan satu kali dalam sehari selama lima hari. Anjing diberikan obat kemoterapi vincristin sulfat dengan dosis 0,025 mg/kg BB secara intravena pada hari ke-4 dan ke-11 pascaoperasi. Pada hari keempat pascaoperasi, vulva tidak mengalami kebengkakan, anjing aktif bermain, urinasi normal, makan dan minum baik, tidak terjadi keluhan apapun, sehingga anjing kasus dinyatakan mengalami perkembangan yang baik pascaoperasi.

Abstract

Dogs are quite popular animals in the pet category. Maintaining the dog's health as a pet is certainly one of the owner's priorities. On the other hand, the dog is also a major reservoir of various zoonotic disease infections. Early detection and effective, efficient treatment are needed to prevent the spread and increase in the severity of the disease. Saliva, which is one type of biological fluid, has begun to be widely used as a diagnostic sample. Its diverse components not only support each other in carrying out the function of saliva but can also be a biomarker of various infections or diseases in an individual. One of the components of saliva is protein. Protein has been shown to be the biomarker of various types of diseases in humans, such as gingivitis, periodontitis, cancer, and caries. This study examines the total protein level of dog saliva, which carried out on 15 healthy dogs. The saliva samples obtained were measured semi-quantitatively using the urine glucose-protein test kit. This study's data is presented in a frequency distribution of bar graphs and descriptive analyses. The results showed that the total protein levels of dog saliva varied, with the most dominant result being 0–10 mg/dL. Larger sample size and different measuring instruments can be applied in further research.

Abstract

This research is conducted to find out the number of Coliform bacteria in dogs that suffer diarrhea and healthy dogs. This research utilizes 20 recent feces of dogs, consist of 10 healthy dogs and 10 dogs with diarrhea. The sample is put in Eosin Methylene Blue Agar media using scattering method. The data of Coliform colony is analyzed using Paired Sample T-Test measurement to find the average value. The result of this research shows that the number of Coliform and E. coli bacteria in dogs with diarrhea is greater than in healthy dogs. The average number of Coliform in dogs with diarrhea are 2.7 x 109 CFU/g and healthy dogs 3,7 x 107 CFU/g. Next, as for the average number of E. coli in dogs with diarrhea are 2,6 x 109 CF/g and healthy dogs 2,8 x 107 CFU/g.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the sensitivity of E. coli bacteria isolated from cloacal swabs of laying hens with diarrhea to streptomycin, kanamycin and doxycycline. A total of 16 samples were used from farms in the villages of Utu (Tabanan), Perean (Tabanan), Demulih (Bangli) and Pasedahan (Karangasem). The sensitivity test of E. coli bacteria used the disc diffusion method from Kirby Bauer. Data analysis was carried out descriptively with the cross tabulation method. The results of 16 isolates of E. coli which were divided into 4 age groups isolated from laying hens cloacal swabs showed a pattern of sensitivity to streptomycin 62.5% resistant, 18.75% intermediates and 18.75% sensitive. The pattern of sensitivity to kanamycin showed an intermediate 6.25% and the sensitivity result was 93.75%. To doxycycline resistance 50%, intermediate 18.75% and sensitive 31.25%. There is an increase in E coli resistance to streptomycin at >4 months of age, while doxycycline at 2-4 months of age and increasing at >4 months of age.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to determine the successful treatment of ehrlichiosis case in a dog. Handling of ehrlichiosis in this case is using the treatment method which is the antibiotic Doxycycline. The dog is a 4-year-old Pomeranian dog, named Husky, female, and with a body weight of 2.7 kg. Initially, Husky were taken to the Estimo Pet House & Clinic with complaints of being bitten by a large dog. The presence of torn wounds on the ventral abdomen and medial right thigh. However, when treated there is a suspicion of blood parasites. The results of the physical examination in general are weakness, pale eye and mouth mucosa, CRT >2 seconds, and fever. Observations found ticks Rhipicephalus sanguineus. The results of hematological examination show anemia, leukopenia, neutropenia, lymphopenia, and thrombocytopenia. The results of the blood smear showed the presence of Ehrlichia sp. The results of the snap test showed a positive result of E. canis. Based on the anamnesis, clinical signs, all of the examinations, then the dog is diagnosed ehrlichiosis with a prognosis of fausta. The treatment that given to this dog is by restoring postoperative conditions by giving 0.9% sodium chloride infusion, carprofen (Rymadyl®) dose 4 mg/kg PO, nexgard (NexGard® S) 1 chewable tablet, cefotaxime (Cefotaxime®) dose 10 mg/kg IV, hematodin (Hematodin®) 1 ml IV. After 3 days of hospitalization, suture wounds are given Bioplacenton ointment (Bioplacenton®). After the 5th day the dog is already allowed to go home with the condition has improved. Dog were given Doxycycline (Doxilin-DT) dose 5 mg/kg BB PO for 14 days, Carprofen (Rymadyl®) dose 4 mg/kg PO for 7 days, and Sangobion (Sangobion®) 1 capsule PO for 14 days. Monitoring of the dog condition with communication to the owner that for 1 week of treatment the dog shows good activity, good appetite, as well as the absence of tick infestation. It is necessary to do a hematology test after treatment for two weeks to be able to confirm that the infection has completely disappeared and if the results still direct to blood parasites, Doxycycline can be given again because actually the treatment is recommended for 28 days.

Abstract

Minyak Rajas is a natural medicine formulated from various herbal plants containing activeingredients with pharmacological activity. This study aims to determine the effect of Minyak rajas onthe lungs of male free-range chickens. The study used a completely randomized design with fourtreatments, namely control and three doses of Minyak rajas orally. A total of 24 male free-rangechickens weighing 500-600grams were randomly divided into four treatments with six replications.As a control in the P0 group, they were fed a placebo with distilled water instead of Minyak rajas.Minyak Rajas treatment in groups P1, P2 and P3 respectively with doses of 92,3mg/kg, 184,6mg/kgand 369,2mg/kg mixed with feed for six weeks. Data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test showedthat the histopathological features of the lungs found in the form of fatty degeneration, inflammatorycell infiltration, bleeding and necrosis were not significantly different (P>0.05) in all treatments. It canbe concluded that the administration of Minyak Rajas has no effect on changes in thehistopathological picture of the lungs of male free-range chickens. Further research can be done toincrease the dose of giving Minyak Rajas orally to determine the dose limit of giving rajas oil andusing more accurate parameters in identifying damage to an organ.

Abstract

Phimosis merupakan suatu kondisi dimana hewan jantan tidak dapat mengeluarkan penis. Penyakit ini bisa dapat bersifat kongenital atau didapat. Seekor anjing jantan, mix kintamani, bernama Dipo, umur 5 bulan dengan berat badan 6 kg, mempunyai masalah saat urinasi. Berdasarkan informasi dari pemilik yang mengatakan bahwa anjing kasus tidak bisa mengeluarkan urin seperti anjing pada umumnya. Pemeriksaan klinis menunjukkan lubang preputium anjing terlalu kecil. Hasil pemeriksaan hamatologi darah menunjukkan adanya penurunan nilai hemoglobin dan platelet. Anjing kasus didiagnosis mengalami phimosis dengan prognosa fausta. Penanganan pembedahan yang dilakukan berupa pelebaran bukaan preputium. Penanganan Pasca operasi diberikan antibiotik Amoxycilin secara intravena pada hari pertama dan dilanjutkan dengan pemberian antibiotik salep Gentamicin Sulfate 0,1% dioleskan pada luka jahitan. Antiinflamasi tolfenamic acid diinjeksi secara intramuscular. Hasil operasi dan terapi menunjukkan anjing kasus sudah mulai nyaman saat urinasi. Luka operasi sembuh pada hari ke limabelas. Disarankan bagi pemilik untuk tidak menyepelekan kondisi ini dan langsung diperiksakan ke dokter hewan untuk penanganan lebih lanjut.

Abstract

The availability of safe, healthy and whole animal food is a concrete manifestation of one of the development goals in the field of food security. One of the foodstuffs of animal origin that contains high nutritional value is pork. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of local Balinese pork when viewed from an objective test. Evaluation of meat quality and health is carried out objectively. Objective assessment is carried out with the help of laboratory equipment or with comparison standards. objective assessment includes an assessment of pH, water holding capacity and water content. The samples used were Balinese pork as many as 12 samples per each test. Data on pH, water content, and water holding capacity were analyzed by the Variety Print Test. The results showed that the objective tests of Balinese pork slaughtered at the traditional slaughterhouse of Penatih Village, Denpasar from four different muscle locations (fore legs, neck, hind legs, and abdomen) showed good results. not significantly different. The average in each test shows good results and is good for consumption when compared to other breeds of pigs.

Abstract

Pyometra is a pathological condition in which there is an accumulation of purulent masses in the uterus which affects female animals. Pyometra can occur in animals of any age after the first estrus. This paper reports the case of a two-year-old female Pomerian mixbreed dog with a body weight of 6.4 kg with anamnesa of decreased appetite and enlargement of the abdomen for 3 months with vaginal discharge a week before being examined. A year ago the dog was given depo-progestine therapy and was kept in captivity by being released. Blood hematology examination showed that the dog had leukocytosis accompanied by hyperchromic microstic anemia, ultrasound imaging showed a hypoechoic appearance in the uterine lumen and thickening of the uterine wall and radiographic results showed a radiopaque image which was suspected of the presence of parts of the bone from the destroyed fetus. Dog cases diagnosed with open cervical pyometra accompanied by maceration of the fetus with a fausta prognosis and treated with ovariohysterectomy. Postoperatively given cefotaxime antibiotics intravenously (IV) for two days. on and followed by cefixime orally for 5 five days. On the third postoperative day, he was given an anti-inflammatory in the form of dexamethasone orally for three days and the incision in the abdomen was cleaned with 10% povidone iodine, then enbatic powder was sprinkled every day. On the seventh day after surgery the wound was dry and not inflamed, and the dog was active again. Ovariohysterectomy is the best way to sterilize dogs.

Abstract

Dogs are pets that can easily adapt to humans. The first native Indonesian dog breed recognized by the Indonesian Kinology Association (PERKIN) is the Kintamani dog. Kintamani dogs are unique in their appearance, namely badong hair and gumba hair. Along with increasing public interest in maintaining Kintamani dogs, it is also necessary to pay attention to maintaining dog health. One of them is the health of the Kintamani dog's hair. Kintamani dog hair health can beautify or aesthetic, make the hair healthier and can maintain the health of the dog's skin. Hibiscus is traditionally believed to have activity that can stimulate hair growth, namely from flowers and leaves of hibiscus. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving hibiscus leaves to improve the hair quality of Kintamani dogs. There are 3 parameters observed in this study; hair strength, hair shine, and hair loss of Kintamani dogs. This study used 30 samples of Kintamani dogs and conducted by simple random sampling obtained from dog owners from Bangli Regency, Bali Province. Samples of dogs will be divided into 2 groups, with the division of 15 Kintamani dogs bathed with crushed hibiscus leaves and 15 Kintamani dogs bathed with commercial dog shampoo. After the sample is bathed, a comparison test of the hair quality of the Kintamani dog will be carried out. Giving crushed hibiscus leaves is given once a week for 3 weeks. The test is given 2 hours after the dog is bathed. The test was carried out macroscopically by being carried out once a week for 21 days on the 30 Kintamani dogs. The observed data were then analyzed using the Kruskal walis nonparametric statistical test and continued with the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the hair quality of dogs using hibiscus leaves and commercial dog shampoo (Natural Septic).
