This study investigated the application of video blogging (vlogging) in teaching speaking skills to students of Senior High School. The purpose of this study was to explore whether vlogging can be used as a learning aid to progress students' pronunciation, fluency, clarity, and confidence in speaking English. A qualitative approach with a case study design was used on students of Senior High School. Data collection methods included classroom observation, student interviews, and analysis of students' vlog performance over some time. The results showed that vlogging significantly contributed to educating students' speaking skills. Through continuous practice with video recordings, students bigger their speaking confidence, better their pronunciation, and bigger their fluency. In addition, vlogging facilitated the learning process by allowing students to assess themselves and receive feedback from their peers. This study concluded that incorporating video blogging into English classes can be a positive strategy to progress students' speaking skills. The study suggests that teachers should incorporate video blogging into their lessons to create a more engaging and interactive learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to appraise the conclusiveness of the Spinning Wheel game in enhancing the descriptive text-speaking skills of seventh-grade students during the 2024-2025 academic yearat Junior High School Muhammadiyah 3 Bangsri. The study adopts a quasi-experimental design, incorporating both a pre-test and a post-test for control groups and both the experimental. The experimental group will participate in activities involving the Spinning Wheel Game, while the control group will follow conventional teaching methods. The sample comprises seventh-grade students selected through non-probability sampling and intentional selection techniques. Data collection involves administering pretests and posttests to both groups. The results from normality and homogeneity tests for the pretest and posttest reveal that the data from both groups is homogeneous and normally distributed. The homogeneity is evaluated using the Anova test, and the normality is assessed through the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Upon analyzing the posttest scores of both groups, the significance value (2-tailed) was found to be 0.000, which is below the significance threshold of 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05). The results reveal that students in the experimental group, who took part in the Spinning Wheel Game, significantly excelled compared to their peers in the control group, who did not experience the game. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is confirmed and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This outcome demonstrates how well the Spinning Wheel Game works to improve seventh-grade students' descriptive text-speaking abilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze various strategies implemented in this program and their impact on teachers' communication skills. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method in several schools that have implemented English Morning Activity. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews with teachers, activity observations, and analysis of related documents. The data obtained were analyzed thematically to identify patterns in program implementation and factors that support its success. The results showed that the main strategies in English Morning Activity include English Morning Meetings, Clubs, English of the Day, and the use of the WhatsApp application as a medium for communication and practice. This strategy has proven effective in increasing self-confidence, speaking fluency, and forming more natural English language habits in the school environment. In addition, a technology-based approach provides flexibility for teachers to continue practicing outside of working hours. Overall, this study confirms that the combination of various strategies in English Morning Activity can create a more conducive learning environment, support teacher professional development, and strengthen the culture of speaking English in schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on English language teaching, especially in the context of the English Language Study Program at KH. Mukhtar Syafa'at University Banyuwangi. Along with the development of technology, AI has presented various opportunities and challenges in education. One of the main opportunities is AI's ability to provide personalized learning, where technologies such as chatbots, virtual assistants, and AI-based applications can help students improve language skills independently. This qualitative case study analyzes AI's impact on English teaching at KH. Mukhtar Syafa'at University, Banyuwangi. Data is collected through semi-structured interviews with lecturers and students, participant observation, and document analysis. Thematic analysis identifies key patterns, with source triangulation ensuring validity. Findings explore AI’s benefits, challenges, and its role in enhancing learning. This study aims to provide insights into optimizing AI integration while maintaining effective pedagogy in academic environments. The results of this study show that Artificial intelligence (AI) significantly impacts English learning by enhancing students' self-directed learning with instant feedback. However, excessive reliance on AI may hinder critical thinking and social interaction. Lecturers also face challenges in AI adaptation due to limited training and infrastructure, fearing it may reduce their role. A balanced approach is essential—students should use AI as a learning tool, not a substitute for thinking and communication. Universities must provide training and support to help lecturers integrate AI effectively while maintaining human interaction in education. With proper strategies, AI can enhance learning quality without diminishing educators' roles.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the main factors that cause limitations in English speaking skills in non-native learners, focusing on speaking anxiety, learning environment, and teaching methods. The focus of the study is directed at the interaction between psychological, environmental, and pedagogical factors in influencing the development of speaking skills. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, involving in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and analysis of the results documentation. Data were analyzed to identify patterns and relationships between these factors. The results showed that speaking anxiety is a major barrier that is exacerbated by lack of exposure to English, monotonous grammar- based teaching, and minimal opportunities for speaking practice. Observations revealed avoidance of speaking and the dominance of the use of the mother tongue in the village, documentation analysis showed low scores\ youth on aspects of fluency and pronunciation. This study contributes to the development of new perspectives in English language learning by emphasizing the importance of integrating practice-based approaches, technology, and supportive learning environments. The results provide practical insights for educators in designing more effective learning strategies to improve the speaking skills of non-native students.

Abstract

This research examines how well eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Sigi improve their reading comprehension skills through Project-Based Learning (PjBL). Reading comprehension is one of the most important skills for students learning English as a foreign language (EFL). However, the lack of vocabulary, low motivation, and inefficient teaching strategies cause problems for many students. PjBL is used as a student-centered learning strategy to address this issue. This research applied a quasi-experimental approach, with a control group learning conventionally and an experimental group using PjBL. Pre-tests and post-tests were used to gather information about students' reading comprehension development. The average score of the experimental group increased from 34.37 to 49.28, showing a substantial improvement, while the control group increased from 35.82 to 46.38. A p-value of 0.001, which is less than 0.05, was obtained through statistical analysis using an independent sample T-test, indicating that the improvement in the experimental group is statistically significant. This study shows that PjBL can improve students' reading comprehension by encouraging active learning, collaboration, and critical thinking. Based on this, the researchers recommend applying PjBL in English language teaching to create a more engaging and meaningful learning experience.
