Abstract

This research was to describe the implementation of scientific approach and the problems in teaching English. The writer used qualitative research. Subjects of this research were English teachers of SMP Negeri 38 Medan.The data of this research were collected by relating observation, interview and documentation. The data were evaluated by applying data reduction, data display, and conclusion based on Miles and Hubberman (1994). The findings showed that the teachers used scientific approach covering the activities were as follows, (1) in the observing activity, teachers showed prohibition images, English instructions and introduced in English, (2) in the activity of asking, there was activity of asking and answering about the observed objects., (3) in the activity of experimenting, the teachers guided the students to demonstrate, discuss and try, (4) in the activity of associating, the teachers guided the students to conduct English exercise, (5) in activity of communicating, students present orally. Meanwhile there were problems faced by the teachers as follows, (1) lack of attractive media in the observing activity, (2) lack of students’ activiness, (3) lack of students’ self-confidence and partaking to experience, (4) lack of students’ vocabulary, (5) and lack of students’ responsiveness.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to see how far the implementation of sports and health physical education (PJOK) during Covid-19 at SMP Negeri 1 Kutacane in 2020, this type of research uses descriptive methods and qualitative approaches with evaluation research types. The number of subjects was 25 people. The results of the study, even though in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, the learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Kutacane was still carried out, even with the physical sports and health education learning method using online media, the material taught was in accordance with the Learning Process Plan (RPP). The participation of students in PJOK learning was very enthusiastic even in a pandemic condition where the learning process for Physical Education Sports and Health continued using video/power point tutorials. In addition, the process of assessing students in online learning is carried out well

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the culture of violence and multicultural education in schools which are critically examined. That, violence is not justified in life at school. Especially if violence is justified because of the differences between students in terms of religion, ethnicity, race and class. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods.  Data collection is done through observation, document analysis and literature study. In Indonesia, the implementation of the multicultural education paradigm is implicit in Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System it is stated that education is carried out in a democratic, fair, non-discriminatory manner, upholding human rights, religious values, cultural values and national pluralism; Education is organized as a systemic unit with an open and multi-meaning system. This means that schools and history learning can play a role in the development of multicultural education as an effort to prevent violence in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning on students' critical thinking skills in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Stabat. This study uses a quasi-experimental research type and the design which is used one quivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control-Group Design. The research method which is used  the experimental method using two classes, namely the experimental and control classes. The significance value obtained is 0.000 0.05 so it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Hi is accepted. The results showed that there was an effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on students' critical thinking skills and was effective for improving several indicators of students' critical thinking skills in the Digestive System subject in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Stabat.

Abstract

This article discusses the need for innovative teaching methods in history education that are suitable for the millennial generation. This emphasizes the importance of incorporating technology-based learning, such as mobile applications, e-learning platforms, and social media, to make history education more engaging and interactive for the millennial generation. The use of data visualization, virtual field experiences, and an inclusive approach to historical and cultural perspectives are also emphasized. The goal of history education is to provide students with the critical, analytical, and historical literacy skills necessary to understand the modern world. The curriculum should focus on competencies that prepare future generations to compete effectively. Blended learning, which combines face-to-face and online learning, is considered an effective solution in education today. Innovative history teaching methods, such as interactive technology, project-based learning, collaborative learning, digital resources, and multicultural approaches, can help millennials better understand history in the digital era.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of Purbaganal Socopan Islamic Boarding School education for the people of Padang Bolak District, North Padang Lawas Regency, starting from the history of the Islamic Boarding School to the inhibiting factors in the development of this educational institution. The method used by the author in this research is a historical research method using historical methods, by conducting direct observations in the field and interviews. The results of this research describe the history of Islamic boarding schools starting from the Kingdom period, the colonial period, the period before independence to the period after independence. After that, we discuss the history of the Purbaganal Islamic Boarding School, Politeness for the Community of Padang Bolak District, North Padang Lawas Regency, the educational role of the Purbaganal Islamic Boarding School for the Community of Padang Bolak District, North Padang Lawas Regency. The initial aim of establishing this Islamic Boarding School was to bring together young people from Sosopan Village to get to know the school and get a diploma to get job opportunities. The development of this Islamic boarding school is growing very rapidly because the people in Sosopan village have quite good enthusiasm for the establishment of this Islamic boarding school. The obstacles that occur in developing this Islamic boarding school are the lack of educational facilities, differences of opinion between boarding school administrators, funding factors and a lack of teaching staff.

Abstract

Regulation number 20 of 2003 concerning the state school system states that community development aims to grow capacity and shape individuals as well as the progress of the state in order to make state life more broad-minded. However, in educational organizations, various obstacles have been traced that interfere with the most common way of achieving quality training as found in the History Education Study Program of the Islamic University of North Sumatra, where efforts to work on the existing nature of training have not been ideal. Various things hinder the improvement of the nature of non-ideal teaching, including: (1) an administrative framework that is not functioning properly, (2) the incompatibility of existing educational programs with the demands of current needs, (3) the nature of showing insufficient staff, (4) there is no student discipline, (5) and there are problems and solidarity between teachers and staff. In circumstances like this, a position of authority is needed that functions to improve and improve the existing framework so that change can occur from now on.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of printed modules for writing book reviews for students in class XI SMA. This research method uses the 4D method by Thiagarajan without carrying out the fourth stage, namely the dissemination stage. The data collection technique used is documentation using a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire. Questionnaires are used to collect judgments from material experts and design experts as validators of the products that have been developed. The aspects of the assessment assessed by material experts are aspects of the curriculum, aspects of student development, aspects of readability, and aspects of truth. Then, the aspects assessed by the design expert were readability, typographical, graphic, and systematic aspects of preparation. The data obtained will be processed using Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques. Based on this development research, the resulting product is a printed module and has been validated by material experts and design experts. The average value of material experts is 3.7 with very valid criteria, and design experts with an average value of 3.9 with very valid criteria. So that the developed module is feasible to be tested at the next stage, namely dissemination by conducting small and large group tests.

Abstract

Precisely, this study was highlighted seeing the association between instructor support, self-feasibility, and student responsibility. The general population in this assessment is the students as a rule, amounting to 400 students, and the model was 186 students, where the model was taken using proportionately isolated sporadic testing. Item second relationship, information examination, and scale and documentation information assortment techniques are totally recorded. The results showed that: There was an immense positive association between teacher support and student responsibility, with a coefficient (rxy) = 0,481 and a p worth of 0.0020.050, with a responsibility of educator sponsorship to student responsibility of 25,7%. There was an enormous positive association between self-feasibility and student responsibility, with a coefficient of regard (rxy) = 0,512 and p = 0.0000.050. Self-viability affects understudy commitment. 3) There was a positive and colossal connection between teacher sponsorship and self-feasibility and student responsibility, with a coefficient regard (rxy) of 0,562 and a p worth of 0.000 0.050, with the responsibility of educator support and self-reasonability sponsorship to student responsibility of 32.7%.
