Abstract

The problem of this study is the teaching method application that seems conventional or traditional, resulting that student learning outcomes in English language learning is low. The problem statement in this research is how the implementation of the Think Talk Write learning model can improve English language learning outcomes for XI grade students at SMK LPP UMI Makassar. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of applying the Think Talk Write learning model in improving English language learning outcomes for students at SMK LPP UMI Makassar. The type of research is classroom action research conducted in three stages: the thinking stage, the talking stage, and the writing stage. The thinking stage involves students in thinking about topics or questions related to the English language. The talking stage involves students in group discussions or pair discussions to share their thoughts. The writing stage involves students in writing about the topics they have thought about and discussed earlier. The subjects of this research are 20 students from SMK LPP UMI Makassar, consisting of 11 males and 9 females. Data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis method. The results of this research indicate that the application of the Think-Talk-Write learning model can improve students' English language learning achievement through strengthening understanding, improving speaking skills, and developing writing skills. The conclusion of this research is that the application of the Think Talk Write learning model can improve learning outcomes for students at SMK LPP UMI Makassar in the subject of English language.

Abstract

The development of vocabulary mastery is an important goal of teaching English. One of the approaches that are effective in fostering the vocabulary mastery is using folktale stories. The objective of this research is to prove that the use of folktale stories can improve the vocabulary mastery of the first year students of SMP Al-Azhar Mandiri Palu. The sample was taken through random sampling technique. The data were collected by using two kinds of instrument: observation and test. The data observation was analyzed descriptively, whereas the data of the test was analyzed by using statically analysis. After conducting the observation and test, the writers found that the students have good motivation in learning and the result of the data analysis showed that there was significance difference between pre-test and post-test. It is revealed by the hypothesis of the research stated that the vocabulary mastery of the first year student of SMP Al-Azhar Mandiri Palu can be improved by applying folktale stories. This hypothesis was accepted after testing it, in which t-counted value 4.18. By applying the 0, 05 level of significance and 72 degree of freedom with the critical value of the t-table through interpolation computation is 1.996. The result of t-counted value is greater than t-table values. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the Null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. The writers concludes that the use of folktale stories can improve the vocabulary mastery of the first year student of SMP Al-Azhar Mandiri Palu.

Abstract

This research is intended to find out the significant difference of the speaking skill of the second year students at SMA Advent Makassar through Probing-Prompting method. The method of this research is pre- experimental method. This method involved one group that was given pre- test, treatments and post-test.The result of the data analysis shows that there is significant difference between pre-test and post-test by the mean score of post-test (4,15) is greater than the mean score of per-test (2,7) at the level significance 0,05. Based on the findings and discussions, it can be concluded that Probing-Prompting method can improve the students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan sebuah analisis aspek suprasegmental pada mahasiswa khususnya intonasi ketika mereka sedang menyampaikan pidato pada Internasional conference (ISC). Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan mengamati rekaman video pidato para mahasiswa dan wawancara yang dilakukan kepada seluruh peserta dari jurusan bahasa Inggris, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode kualitatif. Peserta pada penelitian ini berjumlah delapan peserta/mahasiswa yang telah dipilih berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Data tersebut dianalisis setelah menemukan dan mengklasifikasi informasi khusus yang telah diungkap dari rekaman video dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan fakta bahwa intonasi naik dan turun merupakan yang paling banyak digunakan oleh mahasiswa dalam menyampaikan pidato mereka. Namun , beberapa intonasi yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa dianggap melanggar aturan intonasi bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini juga mengungkapkan bahwa berdasarkan perbedaan-perbedaan antara sistem bunyi bahasa Inggris dan Indonesia, terkait tingkat suprasegmental, khususnya intonasi itu dipengaruhi oleh aspek bahasa pertama dan pedagogis mahasiswa. Sebagai tambahan, mahasiswa membuat intonasi paling baik ketika mengucapkan konsonan akhir yang mana mereka, dipengaruhi bahasa Indonesia, tidak bersuara meskipun konsonan-konsonan akhir tersebut disuarakan dalam bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran model Based on Writing Experimental Report yang valid dan reliabel yang dapat membelajarkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi Rangkaian arus searah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan desain menggunakan Education Research and Development (R D) Borg Gall. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran ini di batasi pada tahap studi pendahuluan dan tahap pengembangan. Analisis hasil validasi menggunakan statistik percentage of agreement (R) diatas 75%. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa rata-rata reliabelitas RPP dengan persentase sebesar 90,56%, LKPD sebesar 84,77%, lembar penilaian (LP) soal KBK sebesar 87,14% dan format penulisan laporan eksperimen (FPLE) 79,64%. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dan reliabel dengan kategori baik, oleh karena itu perangkat pembelajaran model BW-ExPort untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa hasil pengembangan layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to know implementation of Problem Based Learning Model through small group discussion to improve student’s Reading Comprehension. This study was conducted at SMKS Kr. Solagratia Tongkaina-Manado. The design of this study was pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test design. The subject in study was eleventh grade of Perhotelan class were academic year 2023/2024, which consisted of 15 students. The data collected through objective test with multiple choice. The data were analyzed by comparing the mean score of the test. The mean score of the post-test (T2) is 7.3 than those of pre-test (T1) 5.2. This heads to conclusion by implementing Problem Based Learning Model through small discussion could be improve students’ ability in Reading.

Abstract

Di era digital saat ini, hampir setiap manusia di dunia memiliki akun media sosial di berbagai platform. Dan tidak mengherankan jika Media Sosial telah digunakan untuk mempelajari hal-hal yang baru. Artikel ini ingin mengetahui sejauh mana Media Sosial merambah ke dunia pendidikan. Bahasa Inggris sebagai mata pelajaran di sekolah juga telah bersentuhan dengan Media Sosial. Apakah Media Sosial telah secara efisien terbukti efektif dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris? Apakah Media Sosial sudah cukup ampuh digunakan untuk kelas Berbicara? Artikel ini mencoba menerapkan pendekatan terstruktur dalam melihat bagaimana media sosial berperan meningkatkan kompetensi berbicara siswa. Akan ada penjabaran yang komprehensif tentang bagaimana Media Sosial memberikan peluang dan manfaat bagi siswa yang dengan cara khusus dapat meningkatkan keterampilan Berbicara mereka. Artikel ini juga mencoba berfokus pada platform Media Sosial tertentu, yaitu: Facebook, Whatsapp, Youtube, Tiktok, dan Instagram. Penelitian ini diikuti oleh 80 – 90 siswa kelas X SMAS Kristen 2 Tomohon. Artikel ini menerapkan serangkaian penyelidikan untuk menemukan bukti yang mendukung kesimpulan dan rekomendasi yang kuat. Berdasarkan bukti faktual yang ada disimpulkan bahwa Media Sosial benar-benar berperan besar dalam membantu siswa kelas X SMAS Kristen 2 Tomohon meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris mereka.

Abstract

Technological developments in the 21st century era, especially in the field of education, are increasingly important and change the way teachers view learning. One thing that supports the learning process is the use of digital-based learning media, including Google Site. Research on the development of physics teaching materials based on the POE2WE model with the help of the Google site with the aim of: 1) Developing physics teaching materials based on the POE2WE learning model with the help of the Google site; and 2) analyze teacher and student responses to physics teaching materials based on the POE2WE learning model assisted by Google Site. The research was carried out at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 (MAN 1) Tidore Islands. The research data was obtained from validation results from several validators, namely material, language and media validators used to state the suitability of teaching materials, while teacher and student responses were obtained through the results of filling out questionnaires. The data obtained from the research results showed that on average the teaching materials developed were declared very suitable for use by class XII students at MAN 1 Tidore Islands, especially regarding electromagnetic induction material. The feasibility of the teaching materials developed is 88.25%. Analysis of teacher response data obtained a result of 95.33% and for student responses a result of 96% was obtained. It can be concluded that the physics teaching materials based on the POE2WE model assisted by the Google site received a response in the category of strongly agreeing to be used.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan bahwa penggunaan teknik listen and repeat dapat memperbaiki pengucapan siswa dalam bunyi-bunyi vokal bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian pra-eksperimental. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIPA di MAN 1 Palu yang berjumlah 104 orang. Sampel dari penelitian ini diambil dengan menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data diambil melalui tes yang diberikan kepada siswa sebanyak dua kali, yaitu pre-test dan post-test. Data yang telah didapatkan dianalisis secara statistik untuk mengetahui capaian signifikan siswa dalam pre-test dan post-test. Setelah menganalisis data, hasil dari pre-test adalah 41.2 dan post-test 85.61. Hasil dari t-hitung adalah 19.25.  Merujuk pada nilai t-tabel dengan mengaplikasikan degree freedom (df) 30 (31-1) dan tingkat kepercayaan 0.05, peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai dari t-tabel adalah 2.042. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima dihubungkan dengan analisis t-hitung lebih tinggi dari t-tabel. Ini berarti bahwa penggunaan teknik listen and repeat efektif untuk memperbaiki pengucapan siswa dalam bunyi-bunyi vokal bahasa Inggris, khususnya pada bunyi monophthongs.
