Abstract

The issue of worker welfare and fair compensation is becoming increasingly important in the modern world of work. Islamic values, especially those contained in the hadith, provide ethical guidance in creating fair labor practices. The hadith of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH which reads “Give wages to workers before their sweat dries” emphasizes the importance of timely payment of wages as a form of respect for workers' rights and prevention of exploitation. This research aims to explore the application of Islamic principles related to wage justice and the protection of workers' rights, focusing on the contemporary context where late payment of wages is still a significant problem. A qualitative approach is used to analyze relevant hadiths and interpretations of scholars, as well as to review literature and case studies to understand the impact of wage payments on workers' welfare. The findings show that timely payment of wages not only reflects fairness, but also contributes to workers' financial well-being, preserves their dignity, and increases satisfaction and productivity. Compliance with the principle of fair wage distribution also encourages the creation of a positive and harmonious work culture. The study concludes that Islamic principles of justice and welfare are universal and relevant to address the challenges of modern employment. The application of these principles can create mutually beneficial working relationships and support the formation of a more just and prosperous society

Abstract

The concept of qiyām al-lail in Islamic tradition is often narrowly interpreted as night prayers such as tahajjud or witir. However, numerous Prophetic traditions indicate that nighttime devotion includes not only prayer but also spiritually significant acts like remembrance (dhikr), Qur’anic recitation, consultation, education, and social service. This study aims to reinterpret the meaning of qiyām al-lail in the Prophet’s ḥadīths through a ma’ānī al-ḥadīth approach that emphasizes textual, intertextual, and contextual analysis. The method employed is qualitative library research with takhrīj al-ḥadīth and critical analysis of the chains of transmission (isnād) and content (matn) of ḥadīths found in the kutub al-tis’ah. The results show that the examined ḥadīths are authentic, free from ‘illah or shudhūdh, and provide a robust basis for reinterpretation. Through a meaning-based lens, qiyām al-lail encompasses not only ritual practices like prayer but also other nightly acts of devotion intended for seeking nearness to Allah. This reinterpretation affirms that spiritual excellence at night can manifest in various forms of contextualized religious and social engagement. Thus, this study expands the understanding of nighttime worship and brings the prophetic tradition closer to the lived realities of contemporary Muslims

Abstract

This article discusses and analyzes hadiths that address the creation of women. It is stated that women were created from a "crooked" rib. The term crooked carries a negative connotation, such as being deceitful or dishonest, implying that women must always be guided and advised by their husbands or fathers. Can it be accepted that women are seemingly born with inherent negative traits simply because they were created from a crooked rib? Yet, the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) stated that every child is born in a state of purity (fitrah). In this study, the author employs a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on literature review. The findings indicate that both men and women are born in a state of fitrah or purity, and that the rib is a crucial, functional, and perfect part of the human body, created by the Most Perfect. When something is likened to something perfect, it, too, should be seen as perfect as a creation. Not everything that is crooked is necessarily bad or has a negative connotation; the rib itself is originally created with a natural curve or bend. This very shape allows the rib to support and enhance life.

Abstract

This article explores an integrative methodological approach to hadith interpretation by combining normative and empathetic perspectives in the context of prophetic communication. Using a qualitative-explorative design and thematic-contextual analysis, this study examines selected hadiths that reflect both legal norms and compassionate responses from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during da'wah encounters. Key examples include the hadiths of the Bedouin urinating in the mosque, the young man seeking permission to commit fornication, and the female adulterer requesting punishment. These cases demonstrate how the Prophet upheld Islamic law while also applying emotional intelligence and situational awareness. The findings suggest that empathy does not negate legal norms but enhances the effectiveness of da'wah through moral education and audience-sensitive communication. This integrative approach aligns with the ethical foundations of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah and the prophetic value of raḥmah. In contemporary plural societies, such an approach provides a more effective and humane strategy for Islamic propagation. The study calls for Islamic scholars, preachers, and educators to adopt ethical-contextual hadith interpretation in both academic and da'wah settings

Abstract

Hadith’s authenticity on crucial things, such as tolerance in Surah Al-Kāfirūn, must be studied. This paper aims to reveal and prove the status of the hadith as evidence of the revelation of Surah Al-Kāfirūn, associated with religious tolerance. This study belongs to library research implementing a descriptive-analytic approach and a theoretical framework of the Sociology of Knowledge by Peter L Berger and Thomas Lukmann. The results unveiled that the hadith concerning the revelation of Surah Al-Kāfirūn cannot be used as evidence because it was daif and mawquf. However, the tacitan of the hadith did not weaken the validity of the surah, of which the status is the word of God, which is qaṭ’ī. Therefore, Al-Kāfirūn’s correlation with religious tolerance remains valid as long as it pays attention to the determined limits. Mutual respect, assistance, and cooperation among religious people of different beliefs, and things unrelated to ideological aspects such as aqidah, worship, and sharia must be considered. The descent of surat  al-Kāfirun  exerts a  considerable influence on  the religiousness of the people. Every human being is  free  to choose his religion  according to his beliefs  and their own beliefs. But especially Muslims  have  rules  that  stick  to their religion, as well as  non-Muslims. Mereka is  free  to perform  worship  according to his understanding  and  belief. Surat al-Kāfirūn  in addition to  teaching plurality  in  religion  also  teaches the attitude of maintaining  unity  and unity of  the people,  reducing  hostility  and  eliminating  violence  and panatic  against  other groups. The majesty of  surat  al-Kāfirūn became a  way  out of the problem  of  conflict  between  religious  people  since its descent  until  now so that  between  religious  people  live get along well  and  don't  bother each other.

Abstract

This research departs from anxiety about the position of women in the household. Moreover, there are hadith texts which state that women's jihad is in the house. The purpose of this research is to understand how the meaning of jihad contained in the hadith text relates to the jihad of women in the house. This research is a qualitative type by examining and studying the hadith texts about women's jihad in the house using the mubilah (mutuality) method of Kiai Faqihuddin Abdul Kadir. The results of this study indicate that the concept of jihad in the hadith text is neutral and reciprocal. Jihad is all efforts that are carried out with sincerity so as to bring goodness both inside and outside the home. So, all service work both in the domestic sphere and in the social sphere is jihad, both carried out by men and women. Men and women are partners in realizing good and preventing evil. So that the meaning of jihad contained in the text of the hadith cannot be understood by actually housing women so that public space is only dominated by men

Abstract

Association is fundamental to human life, as highlighted in the Qur'an Al-Mumtahanah verses 8-9. Marzuki Wahid interprets this verse to refer to kafir harbi, indicating that Muslims may socialize and engage in mu'amalah with non-Muslim communities, except those who are hostile (kafir harbi). Other opinions included prohibiting associations with hypocrites, major sinners, and immoral individuals. The hadith a man follows the religion of his friend” emphasizes the importance of considering one's associations. This study used qualitative research methods and a library research approach to examine hadiths. John Locke's empiricism theory of education is applied to analyze the hadith's implications on social relations and education. The findings are that the hadith does not prohibit social relations or mu'amalah with non-Muslims but advises caution in choosing close friends to protect one’s faith. From the perspective of Locke's empirical theory of education, this hadith is relevant and does not present contradictions. This study suggests that Muslims are encouraged to choose friends wisely to maintain their religious integrity while promoting moderate and inclusive social behavior in diverse religious contexts. The alignment of hadith with Locke's empiricism theory underscores the significance of the environmental influence on personal development and education. This hadith offers valuable guidance on social interactions, emphasizing the importance of selecting friends who positively influence faith and character. Through the lens of empiricism theory, hadith supports the idea that one's environment and associations play a crucial role in shaping behavior and personality, encouraging moderate and inclusive social relations in diverse communities

Abstract

Islamic scholarship is built by various communities. As a religion that carries the spirit of liberation, Islam provides opportunities for anyone to self-actualize. Mawālī was an element of the early Muslim community that contributed positively to hadith scholarship. During the Umayyah Dynasty, the mawālī became a second-class community, but it had a positive impact on the mawālī to take another path to be considered the main community. This research uses a qualitative method with an analytical-descriptive approach. The author used a biographical dictionary of hadith narrators to find the research data. For the data found to be informative, the author uses a historical perspective to find out the traces of his scholarship. In addition, the author confirms the hadith books. Based on the elaboration, it can be concluded that the mawālī, with its various types, contributed greatly to Islamic scholarship, especially in the field of hadith studies, from the time of the Companions to the later generations.

Abstract

This study examines the unique approach of Sheikh Muhammad Arsyad al-Banjari in understanding and interpreting creed-related Hadiths in his book Tuhfat al-Raghibin. Al-Banjari, not primarily known for his work in Hadith scholarship, leverages his authoritative knowledge in other Islamic disciplines to offer fresh insights into Hadith interpretation. Employing qualitative research methodology, the study conducts a discourse analysis of Tuhfat al-Raghibin. This involves a detailed examination of the content and textual nuances to understand al-Banjari’s interpretive patterns. The research reveals that al-Banjari's interpretations of Hadiths in Tuhfat al-Raghibin are predominantly influenced by Asharite theology, al-Maturidiyyah, and Shafi'i jurisprudence. His methodological blend contributes to the theological development of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, especially in transitioning the religious beliefs and practices of a community from animism-dynamism to monotheism. The findings highlight the significance of al-Banjari's methodology in understanding and applying Hadiths in Islamic law. His approach underscores the need for a balanced interpretation of Hadiths, taking into account historical, social, and contextual factors. The study broadens the understanding of Hadith interpretation and its implications for Islamic jurisprudence
