Abstract

This study has been conducted from May to July 2016 to inventory the species of fish from Sipogas lake, Rokan Hulu District, Riau Province. Result showed a total of 353 individuals of fish belonging to 3 order, 7 families, 13 genera and 14 species were recorded in this study, by using survey method at 4 stations, namely Anabas testudineus, Barbodes gonionotus, Belontia hasselti, Channa striata, Cyclocheilichthys apogon, Hampalamacrolepidota, Helostoma temminckii, Kryptopterus limpok, Ompok eugeneiatus, Osteochilus hasseltii, Osteochilus mycrocephalus, Pristolepis grooti, Puntius lateristriga and Rasbora sp. Cyprinidae was the predominant fish in this study.

Abstract

This experiment performed to find out the effect of stocking density on body weight and body length of freshwater eel (Monopterus albus). In this experiment 160 individual freshwater eels that planted in 20 clay pots. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and four replicates applied in this experiment. The treatments of different stocking densities were 4 eels/pot, 6 eels/pot, 8 eels/pot, 10 eels/pot, 12 eels/pot. Significant gains were recorded on body weight (P0,05) for different stocking densities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi gula yang terkandung dalam limbah pabrik brem untuk produksi etanol. Kadungan gula pereduksi dan kadar etanol ditentukan berturut-turut dengan metode luff schoorl and hydrometer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan rata-rata gula pereduksi pada limbah pabrik brem sekitar 4,55% (b/v) dan jumlah ini cukup untuk difermentasi oleh Saccharomyces cerevisiae menjadi etanol. Pada akhir proses (hari ke 21) konsentrasi etanol yang terbentuk sebesar 2,9% (v/v) atau 22,64 g/liter atau 0,49 mol/liter. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa efisiensi proses pengubahan gula menjadi etanol mencapai 96%. Selama proses fermentasi terjadi penurunan pH dari 4,25 ±0.00 (pada hari ke 0) menjadi 3.58±0.10 (pada hari ke 21). Hasil penelitian ini memberikan gambaran bahwa limbah pabrik brem sangat berpotensi sebagai sumber gula pereduksiuntuk produksi etanol.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang aktivitas harian kera ekor panjang (Macaca fascicularis) telah dilakukan di Taman Wisata Alam Sangeh, Kabupaten Badung, Bali dari bulan Oktober – Desember 2012. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku harian kera ekor panjang (M.  fascicularis) di Taman Wisata Alam Sangeh. Penelitian perilaku harian kera dilakukan dengan metode Focal Animal Sampling. Data yang terkumpul dari berbagai jenis perilaku di analisa secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa frekuensi aktivitas harian kera ekor panjang didominasi oleh perilaku bergerak, kemudian berturut-turut diikuti oleh perilaku istirahat, makan, grooming, mendekap di dada, objek manipulasi, cuddling, agresif. sedangkan perilaku yang paling jarang dilakukan adalah kawin. Berdasarkan jenis kelamin individu dewasa, perilaku istirahat, makan, bergerak, agresif, objek manipulasi dan kawin didominasi oleh jantan sedangkan perilaku mendekap di dada, cuddling, dan grooming di dominasi oleh betina.

Abstract

One of the things that could cause pathogenesis of acne is the activity of normal flora bacteria on the skin, one of them is the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. The use of extracts which is derived from severalparts of plant such as banana peel, mangosteen peel, dragon fruit peel, potato peel, crinum lily leaf, Marsh fleabane leaf, soursop leaf, soma leaf, green betle vine leaf, and cacao seed that are known to have antibacterial activity could help in acne healing attempt. This research was conducted at Microbiology Laboratory Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Udayana University from December 2017 until March 2018.The research was conducted with the intention toknow the appropriate solvent to obtain the compound type of durian rind extract dissolved with three types of solvent (methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate), to look for the smallest resistor value (MIC) of the extract with a solvent that provides the best inhibitory power, and to know the compound type of the extract with a solvent that provides the best inhibitory power. The method is diffusion wells and phytochemical tests. The data that is obtained in the study were analysed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). In inhibition test against P. acnes, it is known that the durian rind ethyl acetate extract effectively showed the inhibitory effect on the bacteria growth, with MIC value of 1.1%. The compound that is contained in the durian rind ethyl acetate extract is terpenoid, steroid, flavonoid, phenolic, and tannin.

Abstract

Freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man)) farming in Bali needs to be supported by the provisionof healthy prawn larvae. Vibriosis infection can be a limiting factor on larval production system which cause highmass mortality in larvae. Therefore a bacteriological study is very important to identify of Vibrio species whichcan cause vibriosis in freshwater prawn larvae. Screening of Vibrio bacteria carried on larval rearing water atUPT Pembenihan Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Provinsi Bali which located in Pesinggahan Village, Klungkung.During study, 5 Vibrio isolates can be characterized (VSP01, VSP02, VSP04, VSP05 and VSP06) which wereisolated as dominant Vibrio bacteria in larval rearing water. Koch postulate test results showed that VSP06 cancause vibriosis in freshwater prawn larvae. The result of identification by BBL Cystal™ Identification Systems andidentification book Bergeys’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology Ninth Edition (Holt et al., 1994), BL6 wasidentified as Vibrio anguillarum.

Abstract

The purpose of this study conducted to know variety of : long of axis polar, equatorial plane diameters, and P/E index of ten Kembang Sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) with differnt colour flowers. Acetolysis method and 1 % Safranin staining used to make pollens slides, micrometri were used to measured long of polar axis and diameter of pollens. The result of this research showed : pollen structure have: 90,10 ± 3,02 ^im to 117,42 ± 1,37 l^m axis polar long, 89,66 ± 3,13 |^m to 112,92 ± 0,94 (xm equatorial plane diameter, and 0,99 to 1,04 P/E index. Based on these data is indicated that the type of the pollen are prolat sferoidal (except bud type red corolla, and white flower) polypantoporat type appertura and periporat ornamentation exine .

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas mendapatkan makan monyet ekor panjang (Macaca fascicularis) di Destinasi Wisata Luhur Uluwatu, Bali. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metodeinstantaneous scan sampling. Data yang diperoleh dari berbagai jenis aktivitas mendapatkan makan monyet dianalisa secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas mendapatkan makan monyet ekor panjang, nampak dengan cara yang relatif tidak jauh berbeda antar waktu, dengan variasi antara 7,91-21,85%. Persentase aktivitas mendapatkan makan monyet pada pagi, siang dan sore hari didominasi oleh aktivitas mendapatkan makan langsung dari alam (24,89; 21,14 dan 20,06%). Aktivitas mendapatkan makan yang mendominasi berbeda pada cohort (jantan dewasa, jantan remaja dan anakan). Monyet jantan dewasa didominasi oleh aktivitas mendapatkan dengan cara merebut dari wisatawan atau pengelola (22,84%), monyet jantan remaja didominasi oleh aktivitas mendapatkan makan dengan cara merebut antar sesama monyet (24,16%) dan anak monyet didominasi oleh aktivitas mendapatkan makan dengan cara diberi monyet lainnya (29,63%). Aktivitas mendapatkan makan monyet betina dewasa dan remaja didominasi oleh aktivitas mendapatkan yang sama yaitu makan dari alam (25,71 dan 26,38%).

Abstract

The abundance of coconut waste in North Sulawesi has not been processed and used optimally, then it becomes waste for the environment. Coconut coir processing for planting medium is limited only for coconut peat (coconut husk powder). One drawback in processing coconut peat requires special equipment and the fuel is expensive. This study aimed to compare the use coconut peat and coconut coir as growing medium for white oyster mushroom. Coconut coir was cut 3cm x 2cm x 1cm in size, while the comparison medium uses a coconut peat. Compositions of both media are coconut coir / coconut peat 83%, 16% ricebran, 1% limestone, 60% water. The result showed that coconut coir more productive than coconut peat. Coconut coir media produces 120.62 grams while the coconut peat media weighing 116.11 grams on each harvesting. Based on the result it can be conclude the usage of coconut coir was better compare than coconut peat for cultivation of oyster mushroom.
