Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a transitional period marked by physical, cognitive, and psychosocial changes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 3.6% of children aged 10-14 and 4.6% of those aged 15-19 experience anxiety disorders. Changes during adolescence, including in physicality, sexuality, cognition, health, and socioemotional aspects, can lead to anxiety, which can disrupt quality of life. Yoga is one method to alleviate anxiety and improve quality of life. Methods: This study aimed to examine the relationship between the frequency of yoga practice, anxiety levels, and quality of life among adolescents at Dwijendra High School. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. The sample consisted of 106 students aged 16-18 from Dwijendra High School, who practiced yoga at least once a week. Data were collected using a yoga frequency questionnaire, the DASS-21, and the WHOQOL-BREF. Abstract

Introduction: Children need attention and education from their families, schools, and communities to support their development. Cognitive function, especially attention, is vital for their learning process. Previous studies have shown suboptimal cognitive function (average digit span test score of 4.31) and decreased attention during lessons, evidenced by frequent seat changes and talking. Enhancing these areas through sensorimotor play can create more engaging and enjoyable learning experiences for children. Methods: This quasi-experimental study utilized consecutive sampling to determine a sample size of 30 children based on Pocock's formula. Two classes from TK SPNF SKB were randomly selected, and subjects were assessed for eligibility based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The subjects were randomly divided into 15 children in the intervention group and 15 in the control group. The intervention group participated in sensorimotor play sessions three times a week for three weeks, totaling nine sessions, each lasting 30-35 minutes. The control group did not receive any intervention. Results: Data analysis using paired sample t-tests demonstrated a significant improvement in the intervention group's learning attention (p = 0.001) and cognitive function (p = 0.001). Independent t-test results indicated an essential difference between the two groups post-intervention (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Sensorimotor play effectively enhances attention and cognitive function in children. Keywords: sensorimotor play, learning attention, cognitive function

Abstract

Introduction: Religious rituals in Balinese Hinduism involve numerous ceremonies with offerings called banten. An essential stage in making Banten is mejejaitan, where artisans use staplers instead of bamboo skewers in crafting. However, prolonged use of staplers and highly repetitive behaviour can increase the risk of de Quervain's tenosynovitis. This study aims to determine the relationship between the duration of mejejaitan and the risk of developing de Quervain's tenosynovitis among Banten artisans in Gianyar Regency. Methods: This observational study used a cross-sectional approach, with purposive sampling yielding 88 subjects. The independent variable was the duration of mejejaitan, while the dependent variable was de Quervain's tenosynovitis. Data collection was conducted through direct interviews to gather information about the duration of mejejaitan. Additionally, specific tests such as the WHAT test were performed to assess the risk of de Quervain's tenosynovitis, and pain intensity was measured using the NRS. Results: Data analysis using the Spearman rho test yielded a p-value of 0.018, indicating a relationship between the duration of mejejaitan and the risk of de Quervain's tenosynovitis. The correlation coefficient r of 0.251 showed a positive correlation, suggesting a direct relationship with a low correlation strength. Conclusion: The longer the duration of mejejaitan without rest, the higher the risk of developing de Quervain's tenosynovitis. Keywords: de Quervain's tenosynovitis, mejejaitan, Banten artisans

Abstract

Introduction: Abdominal circumference serves as an indicator in determining central obesity criteria. In the Asia-Pacific region, the central obesity criteria are abdominal circumference ?90 cm for men and ?80 cm for women. Menopausal women experience decreased estrogen levels associated with the loss of subcutaneous fat and increased abdominal fat. When there is excessive fat distribution in the central body, there is a possibility of decreased adiponectin levels as an anti-atherogenic factor, leading to increased blood pressure. This study aims to determine the relationship between abdominal circumference and blood pressure increase in menopausal women in the Mengwi District. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted on a population of menopausal women aged 45-55 years using a consecutive sampling technique. Subjects were selected according to inclusion, exclusion, and dropout criteria until the total number of subjects reached 85 individuals. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman rho test to determine the relationship between variables and the correlation strength. Results: Based on the data analysis, there was a significant relationship between abdominal circumference and blood pressure, as evidenced by a p-value of 0.018 (p<0.05) and a weak positive correlation coefficient (0.255). Conclusion: Abdominal circumference is associated with increased blood pressure in menopausal women with a weak correlation level. Keywords: abdominal circumference, blood pressure, women, menopause

Abstract

Introduction: Aging brings about notable changes in the musculoskeletal system, affecting muscle flexibility and dynamic balance among the elderly. This study explores the correlation between hamstring muscle flexibility and dynamic balance in elderly residents of Bagendang Hulu Village, Central Kalimantan. Decreasing flexibility with age can lead to stiffness and reduced mobility, impacting daily activities. Hamstring muscles, crucial for tasks like standing and walking, contribute significantly to balance, despite their decreased flexibility in older adults. Dynamic balance, essential for mobility and fall prevention, integrates sensory, motor, and cognitive functions, influenced by muscle strength and joint functionality. Method: This cross-sectional study involved 66 participants aged 60-94 years from Elderly Integrated Health Posts. Hamstring flexibility was assessed using the Chair Sit and Reach Test, and dynamic balance was measured with the Timed Up and Go Test. Results: The study found no significant correlation (p > 0.05) between hamstring muscle flexibility and dynamic balance in this population. Conclusion: Active engagement in senior gymnastics is recommended to enhance physical fitness and overall quality of life, addressing factors such as cardiovascular health, hypertension risk, blood sugar regulation, flexibility, and balance maintenance. Future research should focus on larger sample sizes, controlling for medical histories, and balancing participant demographics to provide deeper insights. Understanding these relationships can inform interventions aimed at enhancing musculoskeletal health and reducing fall risks among elderly populations. Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension, or high blood pressure, can lead to severe illnesses and death. Yoga has been identified as a method to lower blood pressure by improving blood circulation and heart function. This study evaluates the benefits of yoga in managing hypertension and identifies contributing factors. Methods: An analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach was used. The study included 103 yoga practitioners selected via probability sampling. Blood pressure was measured using digital and aneroid sphygmomanometers. Dependent variables included body mass index (BMI), age, and physical activity measured through the IPAQ questionnaire. Results: Yoga practitioners aged 18-39, predominantly females without a family history of hypertension and with normal BMI and high physical activity levels, generally had normal blood pressure. Fewer hypertension cases were observed in these groups. Those without a family history of hypertension had fewer cases compared to those with a history. Respondents with normal BMI mostly had normal blood pressure, but slight increases in hypertension were noted among overweight and obese individuals. No clear pattern was observed between coffee consumption and blood pressure. High physical activity levels were associated with normal blood pressure. Conclusion: Age, gender, family history, BMI, coffee intake, physical activity, smoking, and medication adherence impact grade 1 hypertension. Yoga effectively lowers blood pressure and manages stress. Integrating yoga into educational hypertension programs can enhance public awareness and management skills. Promoting yoga as part of a healthy lifestyle could significantly reduce hypertension prevalence and its societal health burden, fostering healthier communities resilient against hypertension risks.
