Abstract

enormous benefits from an economic, social, and environmental perspective. This contribution was inversely proportional to the trend of changes in the area of HKR, which had decreased. The reduction in the area of HKR was closely related to the socio-economic conditions of the farmers. The purpose of this study is to conduct a socio-economic analysis of HKR management in Maros. This research was conducted in the community candlenut forest area in Maros Regency, including villages with community candlenut forest, including Labuaja, Laiya, Limapoccoe, Rompegading, and Cenrana Baru. This study indicated that there had been a change in the community's social and economic activities in managing the candlenut forest in Maros. Communities tended to focus their livelihoods on cocoa and coffee commodities meanwhile reduce land use for candlenut. The change above is evidenced by the value of community dependence on the candlenut commodity of 35.09%.

Abstract

Community forests are one of the alternative wood producers that play an important role in satisfy the requirement of industrial raw materials. Logging activities that are usually carried out in community forests can lead to the potential for waste to be generated. This study aims to identify the logging process carried out in community forests and the characteristics of the waste generated from the logging process. This research was conducted in the Community Forest of Bune Pute Village, Burau District, Luwu Timur Regency by collecting data on sample plots made by purposive sampling on a logging plot measuring 100 x 100 m. The data obtained were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the felling process was carried out by loggers who used chainsaws to make the fall and return notches. However, it is not always done by loggers in community forests. This is because the diameter of the stems that are cut are usually not too large. Furthermore, in the process of determining the direction of the tree's fall, the loggers consider several factors including the inclination of the canopy, the direction of the wind, and the slope of the tree trunk. The characteristics of the resulting cutting waste are stump, scion waste, and branch-free stem waste Keywords: Community Forest, Logging, Waste

Abstract

Totodoku Village in East Wasilei District is inhabited by people from the Tobelo Dalam Tribe. This community was a tribal community from the forest and still uses medicinal plants from the forest. Unfortunately, knowledge about medicinal plants can change when there is excessive land exploitation or interaction with people from other tribes. Its application will change if it is not passed on to the modern younger generation. This study aims to identify the diversity of medicinal plants and their uses in Totodoku Village. This research was conducted in October - December 2020. Data were collected by surveying medicinal plants in 4 transects and interviewing the community regarding the use of medicinal plants. The data were analyzed to obtain the Important Value Index (IVI) and describe its uses. There were 29 species of medicinal plants from 21 families. The dominant species were kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata) which is used to treat cysts, diabetes and ulcers; and awar-awar (Ficus septica) as a medicine to strenthen joints and has anti-inflammatory effects. The seedling and sapling phases were dominated by Chromolaena odorata, the IVI values were 41.60% and 55.9%, respectively. The pole phase was dominated by Ficus septica with IVI of 39.08 The species diversity index was in the medium category (H’=2.605), while the species evenness index is fairly evenly distributed (E=0.77). Utilizations of medicinal plants is done by drinking them (26 species) and sticking them on the sick body parts (3 species).

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Community well-being in conservation area management remains a challenge. The government has carried out community empowerment programs as stipulated in the Regulations of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Kunyi Village is a model conservation village directly adjacent to KPA / KSA Kunyi. One of the efforts made to empower communities around conservation areas is through the Conservation Village Model (MDK). Through the MDK, the development of the area around the forest conservation area is expected to take into account environmental, social and economic aspects. This research is important to see existing forms of empowerment and to formulate the direction of MDK's development. The research was conducted from May to October 2021. The data obtained was identified through community empowerment indicators. In addition, the driving and inhibiting factors were identified to determine the importance of each factor through a analysis hierarchy process (AHP). The results showed that there were several driving and inhibiting factors of empowerment seen from the aspects of knowledge, attitudes and skills produced. These factors will be strengthened through a strategy or plan of action. Keywords: Conservation, Conservation Village Model (MDK), Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP)

Abstract

Abstract

The Forest resources have a roles and multi-function in supporting humans life. The Forest's management must be integrated with various stake holders, one of which is the locals community. The roles and function of the community is very important to maintaining the sustainability of forest functions. The tradition that grows in the community is a fundamental aspect in to designing forest management strategies based on local wisdom. The concrete step that needs to be taken is  the role of the community with the customary law that applies to the local community. The philosophyof tri hita karana  in Balinese society has a concept that can preserve forests in the midst of globalization and homogenization. Basically, the essence of the teachings of Tri Hita Karana emphasizes three human relationships in life in this world. The three relationships include relationships with fellow humans, relationships with the natural surroundings, and relationships with God that are interrelated with one another. The application of local wisdom in managing forests in an integrated manner has an influence on community behavior and the balance of forest functions. Thus, community empowerment in managing forests based on local wisdom based on the Tri Hita Karana's philosophy needs to be integrated into a structured and systematic management of mechanism to maintain, safeguard and the secure forest functions.
