Abstract

The focus of this paper is to examine the phenomenon of the rise of mystical shows in the media - both electronic and print media with a communication science theory approach namely the "Uses and Gratifications Theory" theory initiated by Katherine Miller in her book "Theories of Media Processing and Effects". With this theory we will find out why a media broadcasts certain programs excessively, even though they are sometimes not very good in terms of improving the education of the audience or readers. From the results of the study found facts bring; First, this phenomenon arises due to the conditions of modern human crisis which prioritize the materiality and forget the spirituality; Second, wrong understanding of Islamic mysticism (Sufism); Third, there are still many Indonesian people who are on the line of poverty and ignorance that must be eliminated from the battle of the modern world

Abstract

The existence of religious institutions is a religious social institution that plays an important role in fostering the religious life of the community. The role is evident in the activities of providing education both formal and non-formal, as well as the activeness of religious institutions in charitable activities and fostering religious harmony. The community still feels the great benefits from the role of religious institutions in the formation of religious communities. Because the main task of religious institutions is to foster society with religious values; starting from the pattern of behavior, thoughts, patterns of life, then this will be closely related to the system of community development. Likewise with community development activities; it also seeks to empower people against aspects of life that are felt to be quite weak. The Amil Zakat Institution of the Charitable Area (LAZDAI) in Lampung is engaged in collecting and empowering zakat, infaq, shodakoh, waqf, and fidyah of donors. After conducting research using a qualitative approach, this institution has succeeded in empowering the Islamic community. Zakat funds are not only consumptive in nature, but are also empowered as mustahik business capital funds, scholarship funds, health funds, disaster victims' relief funds, and other social funds. While the inhibiting factors include: the limitations of human resources (HR) which resulted in socialization and information are still not affordable to all corners of Lampung, limited facilities and pre-supporting facilities such as vehicles, limited information facilities, and office facilities that are still minimal .

Abstract

This article focuses on discussing the influence of Al-Syahrastani’s thoughts on the study of religions in Indonesia. The field of study of religions, which originally is called comparative study of religions, is a branch discipline of religious sciences, century-long established in the world, including in Indonesia. In his book al-Milal wa al-Nihal, Syahrastani explains a variety of religious communities, such as the Stoicism, the materialists, atheist philosophers, the Shabi’un, and many others including the ahl al-kitab (communities of the book). This study is of a literary research, and basses its analysis on both primary and secondary sources. Results of this study point to the influences of Syharastani’s thoughts on the development of study of religions in Indonesia. While these influences are indirect in nature, a large number of Muslim and non-Muslim scholars in Indonesia has referred to Syahrastani’s thoughts. Even the publication of the Indonesian translation of Syahrastani’s al-Milal wa al-Nihal, has enabled students of the department of study of religions in many Indonesian Islamic universities to learn various category and types of religious communities as solicited by Syahrastani.

Abstract

This paper is based on writings that are genoside on ethnic Rohingya and newspaper coverage. Data were analyzed with a qualitative descriptive approach. Indonesia is a country that is independent but actively participates in global politics including in the case of state or majority oppression against minority ethnic or group, such as the case of Rohingya in Myanmar. Rohingya is a moslem minority ethnic living in Myanmar targeted in genocide and banished from the country under the military government. Meanwhile, the civil leader of Myanmar, Aung Sang Suu Kyi, remains silent despite her Peace Prize Nobel. On the other hand, the political stance of ASEAN needs to be strengthened to find the solution for Rohingya without intervening internal affairs of the country. Indonesia has supported Rohingya people both by delivering humanity aids, such as building school, hospital and providing basic needs, as well as persuading Myanmar government by means of diplomacy to protect Rohingya people. This kind of humanity acts should be maintained for the sake of human rights. Thus, Indonesia needs to ratify the Convention on Refugees of 1951.

Abstract

Advanced society is characterized by a literate society that has a high civilization. Literacy is the most important reference about the pros and cons of a society in the future. Religious literacy, is the ability to see and analyze the meeting point between religion and social, political and cultural life. The importance of religious literacy in the midst of a pluralistic society is also related to the increasingly intolerant attitudes among religious adherents. Religion is currently very easy to be used as issues that can trigger divisions in the community. Pesisir Barat Regency in Lampung Province, is one of the 3T areas, has quite a variety of religious adherents, and Islam is the major religion with the highest number of adherents. However, the data shows that up to now there has never been a serious conflict or conflict between religious followers in this area. Research with this qualitative approach is intended to describe the level of religious literacy in the two 3T regions, its relevance to the attitude of tolerance towards adherents of minority religions. The results showed that, there are five dimensions that can be used as benchmarks to see someone's religious level, namely the dimensions: beliefs, religious practice experience, religious knowledge, and practice dimensions. In general, the diversity of the West Coast community is very good. In addition, there is a relevance or suitability of the relationship between the level of religious literacy in the West Pesisir district people with an attitude of tolerance

Abstract

Dakwah management must be carried out in accordance with sociocultural conditions of the concerned society, which is bound to a constant  progress triggered by globalization and the advance of technology, in turn often causing a multi-dimensional crisis. On the basis of this argument, this research is aimed at exploring the ways in which a Muslim adviser (Penyuluh Agama Islam) could effectively play his counselling roles in society. By focusing on a Muslim society in Langkapura, Bandar Lampung, this paper proposes the significant use of local wisdom for every dakwah management. It argues that every religious counselling activity needs to based on a well-constructed synergy between religious teachings and local wisdom of the society in which the activity of dakwah is taking place. By doing this, this research is (expected to be) able to produce a religious counselling model with a local wisdom approach, that may be adapted in another similar context.

Abstract

This study focuses on the study of texts (Al-Qur'an and Hadith) about war, tracing history, and ending with a study of the types of warfare that are permitted in Islam. This research is based on library research, of course there are several methodological tools used to find answers; in collecting data, of course, it refers to the main sources namely Al-Qur'an and Hadith by applying the work patterns of the maudhu 'method, then it is equipped with references to interpretation and historical books. While in the analysis, researchers used the double movement theory Fazlur Rahman. In this study conclude that in the Islamic conception, the problem of war has been arranged comprehensively, both at the goal stage, the conditions for allowing war, to the ethics of war, have been described in detail. In principle, in Islam, war is only legalized in very emergency situations (forced), such as to resist enemy attacks, defend the rights that have been violated by the enemy, and protect the security of Islamic da'wah. Islam only justifies war if attacks do occur or are real.

Abstract

This paper tries to explore a noble lesson from a life journey of a nation that has experienced glory in managing their lives at that time. The Saba 'with all the stories we can read from the source of the holy book and the explanations of the commentators in it so that their stories continue to be the talk of the last generation, especially when we live in an era of fast-paced, sophisticated and technology-based and information. IT sophistication and human greatness when combined should give birth to a mighty power that can change the arid world order to be fertile, weak to strong, hard to be easy even poor to become rich. But the empirical facts are not so. What's wrong with us and can we learn from the story of the people in the past? The main problem in this study is the extent of the triumph and the key to the success of the rulers of the country of Saba 'in prospering its people and what is the main cause of their destruction. This study is descriptive analytic with reference to the interpretations and explanations of the commentators in telling the story of the Sabaese '. Wal results that the Saba''is an order of community life that had achieved the glory and success in managing the favors of power ruled by its ruler at the time, but because of kufr and their inability to control their desires finally they sank and fell from the stage of civilization. For millennials, stories of the failure of the people in the past should be a lesson for the current generation so that the goodness of the earth and all its contents are not wasted.
