Abstract

This research departs from the phenomenon of the increasing use of YouTube in Indonesia, which ranks as the fourth largest in the world and thus holds a strategic value in disseminating religious messages. The central issue lies in the shift of religious practices into digital spaces, marked by the emergence of new religious communities, the transformation of authority, and the affirmation of identity shaped through Islamic preaching content on YouTube. The purpose of this study is to explain how mediated Islamic networks are formed in cyberspace and how they influence patterns of social interaction and religiosity within society. To address these issues, a qualitative method was employed with a multisite content analysis approach on various Islamic-themed YouTube channels. Data were collected from several popular accounts to map networking patterns, interactions, and audience responses. The findings reveal that the mediatization of religion on YouTube produces at least three significant outcomes: the formation of virtual communities that transcend geographical boundaries, the strengthening of group identity through symbolic and visual narratives, and the shift of religious authority from traditional scholars to digital public figures. In conclusion, YouTube functions not merely as a medium of entertainment but also as a strategic arena for the diffusion of Islamic messages and as a new sphere for the emergence of digital religious practices that influence contemporary understandings and expressions of religiosity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and understand Al-Gazali's teachings on religious tolerance and moderation through his views on faith and unbelief as contained in his work, Fasl Al-Tafriqah Bayna Al-Islam Wa Al-Zandaqah. This research is qualitative research with a text analysis approach. The data sources in this study consist of primary and secondary data, data collection techniques using library research and text analysis, data analysis using content analysis and contextual interpretation, and data validity consisting of source triangulation and source criticism. The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali's teachings on religious tolerance and moderation, as described in Fasl al-Tafriqah bayna al-Islam wa al-Zandaqah, offer a view that rejects extremism in assessing a person's faith, while emphasizing the importance of a fair and moderate approach. Al-Ghazali asserts that the assessment of an individual's faith is the exclusive right of God, not humans. Al-Ghazali teaches that a person's beliefs should not be used as a reason to justify discrimination or violence. Al-Ghazali's teachings on tolerance and moderation are not only relevant in the context of Islamic history but also serve as a universal guide. This study is expected to contribute academically by adding to the wealth of literature related to Al-Ghazali's thoughts on religious tolerance and moderation, while also broadening our understanding of the concepts of faith and disbelief according to his views. Abstract

The tampung tawar tradition is one of the traditions of the Dayak Sekayu Darat sub-tribe with Kaharingan beliefs in Kotawaringin Lama District, Central Kalimantan Province. The main purpose of the tampung tawar tradition is to help each other for the sake of survival and the future of children. This study aims to identify the acculturation process that occurs in the tampung tawar tradition. In addition, it seeks to determine how this tradition can serve as a place of mediation in the reconciliation of religious conflicts in the Kotawaringin Lama community, using Albert Bandura's social cognitive theory. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach through interviews and field observations. The results show that the tampung tawar tradition has undergone acculturation in its implementation and in the process of the child adoption ceremony. The acculturation that occurs illustrates the practice of interfaith tolerance because the tampung tawar tradition is not only practiced by the Kaharingan faith, but can also be practiced by other religions. This shows that the tampung tawar tradition has the potential to be an effective forum for the reconciliation of religious conflicts in a multicultural society. Keywords: Acculturation, Reconciliation, Tampung Tawar Tradition.

Abstract

The phenomenon of transmigration in Indonesia has brought about various social and cultural changes for relocated communities, including Balinese transmigrants in Lampung. As a group with strong traditions and cultural identity, Balinese transmigrants face challenges in preserving their cultural heritage amidst interactions with diverse local communities. This article aims to explore the efforts made by the Balinese transmigrant community in Lampung to maintain their cultural identity. The study employs a qualitative approach with an ethnographic design, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The findings reveal that Balinese transmigrants have successfully preserved their cultural identity through the continuation of traditional rituals, language, and support from customary institutions and religious organizations. However, the adaptation process also involves adjustments to local culture, creating complex dynamics of acculturation. The implications of this research highlight the importance of social institutions in supporting the continuity of migrant communities’ cultural identity, as well as the relevance of transmigration policies that consider cultural dimensions. These findings contribute to the understanding of how migrant groups can maintain their identity while adapting to new environments, providing insights for further studies on migration and cultural identity in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research examines Hasan Hanafi's thoughts on the deconstruction of ushul fiqh science as an effort to reactualize Islamic law. The results showed four main findings. First, Hasan Hanafi pays great attention to the revitalization of ushul fiqh through a historical approach, by emphasizing the importance of the historical and human dimensions in understanding the concept and methodology. This dimension is actually inherent in the classical methodology of ushul fiqh, but has been obscured as the discipline has developed. For Hanafi, the historical dimension is present in all elements of ushul fiqh, including adillah syar'iyyah, thuruq al-istinbath, and al-ahkam al-syar'iyyah, which are represented through the keywords "history" and "human". Second, the revitalization offered by Hanafi is a methodological update that adapts ushul fiqh to social reality, humanity, and the development of science, without breaking away from the traditions and treasures of classical scholars. Third, Hanafi's thinking is considered relevant for the reactualization of Islamic law because it is able to respond to the dullness and freezing of ushul fiqh by reviving its vital spirit and elan through a historical approach. Fourth, the historical idea is rooted in Hasan Hanafi's great project of al-Turats wa al-Tajdid, which views the loss of the human and historical dimensions as the cause of the stagnation of the progressivity of Muslim thought and praxis. Thus, this framework offers a conceptual basis for contextual readings of Islamic law that are adaptive, critical, rooted in tradition, and responsive to the challenges of global contemporary times.

Abstract

Lampung people have a culture that uses symbols and identity to regulate how to behave in community life which is interpreted as local wisdom called Piil Pesenggiri. Piil Pesenggiri as local wisdom has made the Lampung area special, because it is a way of life or basic values for the Lampung tribal people. Piil Pesenggiri consists of Juluk Adek (the principle of a person's success which is obtained by maintaining the traditional title attached to that person), Nemui Nyimah (the principle of respect for guests or newcomers), Nengah Nyampur (the principle of social relations as a continuation of Nemui Nyimah) and Sakai Sembayan (the principle of cooperation and mutual assistance). These four elements of Piil Pesenggiri, apart from being used as an identity or way of life for the community, are also used as a value of inter-ethnic tolerance. The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Religion, is actively implementing a religious moderation movement. This is understandable because the government sees that the conflict that occurs in Indonesia is one of the causes because people tend to be exclusive but are not placed in the right portion. With the condition of a pluralistic society, this Community Service activity is emphasized on understanding religious moderation with a harmonious living atmosphere through the local wisdom of Piil Pesenggiri. Key words: Religious Moderation. Local Wisdom, Piil Pesenggiri
