Abstract

Daily prayer is one of the oldest ecclesiastical liturgical traditions and has been known since the time of the early church. However, this tradition seems to be fading over time. In Indonesia, daily prayer is no longer widely known by Christians. Meanwhile, the five times salat continue to be practised faithfully by its adherents in the Islamic tradition. Liturgical studies recognize the practice of daily prayer and the five times salat as "canonical hours" or hours of prayer. Although Christians were familiar with the hours of prayer before Islam, Muslims maintain them more faithfully and consistently. This phenomenon will become the focus of this paper in the frame of comparative theology. This paper explores the superior values of the Islamic five times salat, which can be appreciated as inspiration for developing Christian daily prayer.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has hundreds of indigenous peoples scattered throughout the archipelago, who still survive with their customs and traditions. One of them is the samin indigenous people from Dukuh Karangpace, Klopoduwur Village, Blora Regency, Central Java. The indigenous Samin people were described as ignorant, unwilling to pay taxes, and refused forced labor by the Dutch colonists. The Samin traditional community is considered strange and also considered to reject technological advances. There are several problems in Indonesian society, especially Indonesian government officials. Such as public lying, corruption, illegal levies, bribes, legal mafia cases involving law enforcement officials, and state officials in making decisions that only benefit certain groups, and so on. From this problem, this paper will use an indigenous religion paradigm approach and local wisdom to see the true nature of Samin's teachings. the author uses a type of library research that is included in qualitative research. The result of the interim conclusion of this paper is that the author argues that the teachings of samin are very relevant if applied to society in general and the government in particular, there are three main points of Samin teachings including the understanding of the Samin indigenous people with the creator, living environment and people, so it can be concluded that the negative stigma of the assumption to the Samin indigenous people is considered inappropriate and the samin teachings are very relevant if actualized as a reference in Indonesian society and government. Keywords: Samin indigenous people, Government, Indigenous religion paradigm.

Data were collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The subject of this research is the Buddhist Young Generation in Wonogiri Regency. Data validity was tested using data triangulation. To obtain valid data, researchers analyzed the data by data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. From the results of the study, it was found that young Buddhists have a low interest in becoming Buddhist religious instructors. This condition is caused by several factors, namely internal and external. Internal factors consist of the young generation's lack of knowledge about Buddhist religious instructors, the young generation's self-confidence and interest in religious instructors' activities. While external factors consist of environment, family, education and the involvement of young Buddhists.

Abstract

This article is a study of divine philosophy that more specifically discusses the concept of divinity by Ibn Rushd and Alfred North Whitehead. The method used consists of two stages: concept formation (tashawur) and logical reasoning (tashdiq). Ibn Rushd's epistemological thinking contains certain implications and consequences. First, Ibn Ruyd's concept of two sources of knowledge can encourage a meeting between religion and science, as well as religion and philosophy, but on the other hand it can also give birth to materialistic, secular and even atheistic thoughts, at least the doctrine of "double truths" as happened in Europe in medieval ages. This means that this problem must be watched out for and paid attention to. Alfred North Whitehead's concept of Divinity, is that of God, humans, animals, plants, and inanimate objects. The universal principle is the principle of "process". This principle assumes that every being is essentially determined by how he then appears in the process of becoming himself, reality is not something static, but continues to move and change in an unending process of evolution.

Abstract

This article examines two types of Lampung communities, Pepadun and Saibatin, which have interesting differences, especially in the context of their traditional marriages. Both Lampung Pepadun and Saibatin are unique in terms of their customs, traditional dress and marriage process. However, the focus of this article is on how Islamic symbolic values are reflected in the marriage ceremony of the Lampung Pepadun community. The research findings show: 1). The Lampung Pepadun community has three types of marriage, namely honest marriage, semanda marriage, and pineng ngerabung sanggar marriage. 2). The relationship between Islam and Lampung culture can be considered as an inseparable entity, where Islam that developed in Lampung was influenced by its local culture, while Lampung culture also experienced a rich influence from Islamic values. As a result, the combination of the two resulted in a syncretic culture with its own characteristics.

Abstract

This research examines the motivation of tarekat followers who were mostly involved in a rebellion of the people of Banten, during the Dutch colonial period. Based on the results of the research, it is concluded as follows: First, Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah was introduced by Haji Abdul Karim in the mid-19th century. This order had a considerable influence, both among the farmers and among the officials. Because of its strong influence, the Banten area in a short time was colored by an extraordinarily active religious life. So great was the influence of the Tarekat leader in Banten, that he was able to mobilize the masses of people who needed a leader who could restore the integrity of the village. Secondly, the rebellion spearheaded by kyai, hajj, and tarekat teachers showed that the ulama did not agree with the ideas put forward by the Dutch government. for the sake of the peace of religious life in Banten, the last alternative was to expel the colonizers from Banten. Their involvement in a rebellion aimed to establish an Islamic state (dar al-Islam), the penetration of colonial domination that contradicted the religious life in Banten.

Abstract

This research reveals the causes and religious experiences of poor single mothers leaving the church in the book "Living Faith: Everyday Religion and Mothers in Poverty" by Susan Crawford Sullivan through economic, psychological, gender and theological approaches. The type of method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research with content analysis techniques and library research. The results of this study show that from the resource approach, it was found that the reasons why poor single mothers left the church were limited time resources and financial resources. From the aspect of women's social experience, various problems of discrimination and stigmatization of single mothers and poverty caused these poor single mothers to leave the church. Using the theory of self-acceptance, the poor single mothers assessed that they were poor and did not have the appropriate morals so they felt inappropriate to enter the church.  Through a theological approach, poor mothers experience a transition from institutional religion to individual religion (religious individualism) as a manifestation of religiosity in a new form.
