Abstract

There is a crucial issue in several campuses namely the spread of radicalism and terrorism which has begun to target students on campus. The understanding is actually a simplification which results in the difficulty of capturing the substantive meaning of the two terms. The various perceptions of PTKIN lecturers about the meaning of "Islamic radicalism" made the Muslim public confused. This research was conducted to see the pattern of understanding of PTKIN Lampung lecturers regarding the phenomenon of Islamic Radicalism in Indonesia, the attitudes were developed by PTKIN Lampung lecturers facing the phenomenon of Islamic Radicalism in Indonesia, and the efforts were made by PTKIN Lampung lecturers in order to keep students away from the spread and threat of the Islamic radicalism on their campuses. This study involved 10 religious lecturers who worked at 2 PTKIN in Lampung as informants. This study adopted a qualitative investigative approach. This study investigates the participants as the sources of the data. The finding showed that the understanding or perception of PTKIN lecturers of the Lampung area about Islamic radicalism in Indonesia is not yet in one word (consensus). Most of them agree that the phenomenon of Islamic radicalism in Indonesia is a political movement that must be kept away from their students and the Muslim generation in general. But it seems that the necessity is simply because the approach used by the movement tends to emphasize the use of violence to achieve its political goals

Abstract

This research discusses the complexity of implementing gender mainstreaming in structural positions at the Secretariat of the Aceh Ulama Consultative Assembly, which can provide insight into the dynamics of gender mainstreaming in the bureaucracy and emphasize the importance of structural reform to achieve substantive gender justice. The research method used was qualitative with a single case study approach. Data were collected by semi-structured interviews, direct observation, document analysis, and audiovisual digital materials. A purposive sampling technique was used for informant selection. Data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The research findings show that despite the existence of gender-equitable policies and equal development opportunities among men and women, structural realities still require systemic transformation, which can be seen from the accessibility of information and opportunities for recruitment and promotion, women's participation in decision-making processes at the structural level, control over resources and decisions that influence policies, and justice in obtaining benefits for women. Some barriers include male dominance in the civil service hierarchy and the lack of affirmative policies.

Abstract

Modernization often brings changes to the social and cultural structure of a society. In the context of the Mandailing tribe's marriage customs, modernization can cause a shift in values that were previously considered sacred, such as the marriage process which is full of traditional ceremonies, to become simpler or influenced by more practical marriage practices and oriented towards modern trends. This shift can affect the way society views the importance of traditional ceremonies, or even cause a decrease in the interest of the younger generation to preserve these traditions. Marriage customs are not only related to rituals, but also to the cultural identity of the Mandailing tribe. This study aims to determine the effect of modernization on the marriage customs of the Mandailing tribe. The research method used is a qualitative method. The data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. From this study it was found that modernization has brought significant changes to the way customs are carried out, especially in terms of marriage ceremonies. In the Mandailing tribe, marriage customs have a series of rituals that are quite long and involve various parties, such as makkobar which takes a long time. Modernization causes the marriage ceremony to be simplified or eliminate some traditional elements.

The research method used in this paper is Stuart Hall's reception theory analysis which divides the categorization of perceptions into three, namely: dominant, negotiated, and oppositional. Data collection techniques are in-depth interviews with NU, Muhammadiyah, and LDII leaders. The results showed NU, Muhammadiyah, and LDII's disapproval of Ahmadiyya ideology that considers Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as a prophet. Even so, acts of violence against Ahmadiyya are not justified. Muslim communities must continue to uphold the value of tolerance to respect each other. On the other hand, Surabaya Ahmadiyah leaders said they would not retaliate for the violence that had been committed against other Ahmadiyah congregations through the principle of mutual love.  The emergence of recommendations to anticipate acts of intolerance by holding a dialogue between Islamic organizations to create a discussion space to understand each other.

Abstract

Religion and conflict are two things that have long appeared in human life. The inevitability between both cannot be separated. But in the next step, many parties then positioned religion as the source of the emergence of major conflicts in human civilization. A number of conflicts with religious nuances have made a number of parties' views even more cynical about religion. There were even some scholars who presupposed the absence of religion on earth so that painful conflicts in history would never occur. Through the results of an investigation of literature studies, this article tries to answer how the relationship between the two is in human life. Answering questions about does religion really create conflict? What if religion doesn't exist, will bloody conflicts still occur? The results of the study show that the presence or absence of religion has nothing to do with the presence or absence of conflict in human life. Even though religion can give birth to conflict, on the other hand religion also plays a role as a conflict mediator. Even the absence of religion does not guarantee that humans will never have conflicts. That way, the key is to strengthen awareness of tolerance among religious communities so that human life can become more harmonious and even though conflicts cannot be avoided, through the awareness of tolerance conflicts can be resolved peacefully and wisely.

Abstract

Post-tolerance is a concrete form of behavior in appreciating and respecting each other among religious communities. This is particularly necessary in a diverse country like Indonesia to foster diversity. Roemah Bhinneka is a post-tolerance phenomenon in Surabaya that operates in the field of social diversity among religions. They collaborate by combining one religious activity with another, such as opening prayers by Muslims for Christmas and New Year celebrations in churches. The purpose of this study is to describe the phenomenon of post-tolerance at Roemah Bhinneka in Indonesia with its diverse society. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type, Emiel Durkheim's theory of organic solidarity, and data collection through interviews and documentation. The results of this study show that post-tolerance takes the form of involvement in other religious activities, such as joint prayer, social activities, and interfaith discussions. Differences in understanding and beliefs are united by a single vision of a social movement for diversity to build peace and justice in Indonesia's multicultural society. They dare to build arguments for coexisting with other religions through discussion and joint religious practices. From the perspective of organic solidarity theory, Roemah Bhinneka's practice of post-tolerance can be an important contribution to building an Indonesian society that is mutually involved in various social and religious activities across beliefs. Abstract

Lecturers, as educators and role models, play a strategic role in internalizing the values of religious tolerance within the academic environment. Higher education institutions function as multicultural and multireligious spaces, making it essential to ensure that these values are effectively implemented in teaching practices and interpersonal interactions on higher education. This study aims to identify best practices employed by lecturers in fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere for students from diverse religious backgrounds. The research applied a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and literature review, conducted at Lambung Mangkurat University and the Islamic University of Kalimantan (UNISKA). The findings indicate that religious tolerance in both universities develops more significantly through practical implementation in academic culture, lecturers' professional ethics, and daily interactions within the university community, rather than through formal regulations. The fairness demonstrated by lecturers and the diversity among students constitute important social capital for cultivating an inclusive academic environment. Despite challenges such as the potential for sensitive religious jokes, differing interpretations, and the influence of external socio-political issues, continuous reinforcement through character education, interfaith dialogue, and institutional commitment is necessary to ensure that tolerance is not only preserved but also strengthened as a model of multicultural education to be emulated by other universities.   Keywords: Religious Tolerance; Dynamics; Academic Environment; Higher Education
