Abstract

This research aims to analyze the cost and time performance of the Bojonegoro–Ponco road maintenance project using the Earned Value Management (EVM) method. This method is used to evaluate project achievement by comparing the Planned Value (PV), Earned Value (EV/BCWP), and Actual Cost (AC) to determine cost efficiency and schedule accuracy. . The data used is secondary data in the form of project progress reports for eight weeks of implementation. The analysis results show that the Cost Performance Index (CPI) value during the observation period is below 1, indicating that the project experienced cost inefficiency and is likely to have cost overrun. This is reinforced by the Estimate at Completion (EAC), which is around Rp180–190 million, higher than the initial contract value of Rp156,511,000. In terms of schedule, the Schedule Performance Index (SPI) is also below 1, indicating delays in work implementation. The Estimate at Schedule (EAS) shows a significant potential delay compared to the initial plan. The contribution of this study lies in the comprehensive application of the Earned Value Management (EVM) method to evaluate the performance of road maintenance projects, thereby providing a quantitative overview of cost efficiency and schedule adherence, as well as serving as a basis for decision-making in construction project control. Future research is recommended to further examine the factors causing cost inefficiencies and delays in greater depth, and to combine the EVM method with other project management methods in order to obtain more optimal and accurate analysis results.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of mathematics anxiety on students’ statistical competence, the influence of mathematics self-efficacy on statistical competence, and the moderating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between these two variables. The study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The participants consisted of 93 undergraduate students enrolled in a statistics course in a mathematics education program. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with mean-centering and bootstrapping techniques. The findings indicate that mathematics anxiety does not have a significant direct effect on statistical competence, whereas mathematics self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect. Furthermore, self-efficacy significantly moderates the relationship between mathematics anxiety and statistical competence by weakening the negative impact of anxiety. These results suggest that self-efficacy functions as a protective factor in statistics learning. Therefore, strengthening students’ self-efficacy should be a key consideration in designing effective statistics instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to develop animation-based audiovisual learning media to improve studens’ mathematics learning achievement on simple fraction material. The research employed a research and development (R&D) method using the 4D development model, which consists of the Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The subjects of this study were 20 third-grade students of Elementary School 1 Banarjoyo. Date were collected through obsevation, interviews, expert validation, and learning outcome tests (pre-test and post test). The results showed that  the developed learning media achieved a high level of validity, with media expert validation reaching 83% (categorized as feasible) and material expert validation reaching 87% (categorized as highly feasible). The effectiveness test indicated an improvement in students’ learning achievement, as evidenced by the increase in the average score from 63,33 in the pre-test to 75 in the post-test. In addition, learning mastery improved from 45% to 75% after the implementation of the learning media. Based on these finding, it can be concluded that the animation-based audiovisual learning media developed is appropriate to be used as an alternative instructional tool in mathematics learning to enhance students’ understanding of fraction concepts and improve their learning achievement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using CODAP on students’ mathematical representation ability in the topic of Linear Equations in One Variable. This study employed a quantitative design with a pre-experimental approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 19 eighth-grade students at Pattimura University Laboratory Middle School. The instrument used was an essay test designed to measure three indicators of mathematical representation ability: verbal-contextual representation, visual/graphical representation, and symbolic representation. The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using percentage scores, N-Gain, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, the paired sample t-test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and effect size analysis. The results showed that CODAP-assisted learning improved students’ abilities across all measured indicators. Verbal-contextual representation increased from 80.89 to 96.84, with an N-Gain of 0.483; visual/graphical representation increased from 47.37 to 86.84, with an N-Gain of 0.556; and symbolic representation increased from 0.00 to 56.21, with an N-Gain of 0.562. All improvements were categorized as moderate, yet they were statistically significant, with large to very large effect sizes. These findings indicate that CODAP helps students interpret contextual problems, read graphical representations, and construct mathematical models more meaningfully in the topic of linear equations in one variable.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the unemployment rate on poverty levels in Rembang Regency by applying the linear regression method. The data used in this study are secondary data in the form of time series data covering the period from 2005 to 2025, obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Rembang Regency. The analytical method employed is simple linear regression using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach to understand the relationship and the magnitude of the effect of the independent variable (unemployment) on the dependent variable (poverty). The results of the study indicate that there is a positive relationship between the number of unemployed people and the poverty level. This is reflected in the regression coefficient value of 7,294, which means that every one-unit increase in unemployment will lead to an increase in poverty by 7,294 units, assuming all other variables remain constant. Furthermore, the results of the t-test analysis show that the unemployment rate has a significant effect on poverty, with a significance value of 0.001, which is lower than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the unemployment rate has a significant impact on the increase in poverty levels in Rembang Regency. Thus, the government needs to implement policy measures oriented toward job creation and improving the quality of human resources in order to reduce unemployment and poverty rates sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the Nearest Neighbour and Branch and Bound algorithms in determining tourism routes on Penyengat Island using weighted graph modeling and to analyze the effect of graph structure on the resulting routes. A quantitative approach based on graph theory was employed in this study. The data were obtained through direct observation in the form of distances between tourist locations, while travel time and number of steps were used as supporting data. Tourist locations were represented as vertices and the connections between locations as weighted edges, with distance used as the main parameter. The graph used in this study was an undirected weighted and incomplete graph with the starting point located at vertex A (Harbor). Route efficiency was evaluated by calculating the total path weight generated by each algorithm. The results showed that the Branch and Bound algorithm produced a more efficient route than the Nearest Neighbour algorithm. In addition, the incomplete graph structure caused repeated vertices in the routes generated by both algorithms. These findings indicate that graph connectivity influences route efficiency in weighted graph-based tourism routing.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is one of the important skills in mathematics learning because it helps students understand, present, and solve mathematical problems. However, many students still experience difficulties in using mathematical representations, especially in solving contextual problems in Academic Ability Test questions. This study aims to describe students’ mathematical representation abilities in solving contextual problems on Academic Ability Test questions in terms of visual, symbolic, and verbal representations. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects were students of class IX B at a junior high school selected using purposive sampling based on the mathematics teacher’s recommendation. The research instruments included, interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation (a mathematical representation ability test). Data were collected through, interviews, observations, and documentation (tests). Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ visual and symbolic representation abilities were relatively good, while their verbal representation abilities were still low. Most students were able to create visual representations and construct mathematical models appropriately, but they still had difficulties explaining the problem-solving process using written words. In addition, students tended to focus more on direct calculations rather than providing verbal explanations in solving contextual problems on academic ability test questions.

Abstract

Students often experience difficulties in learning integral calculus; therefore, instructional innovation is needed to improve their mathematical abilities. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing Project-Based Learning (PjBL) on students’ mathematical abilities in the topic of integral calculus. The research employed a pre-experimental method with a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest–post-test design. The data were obtained from tests administered before and after the treatment. To determine the difference in students’ abilities between the pretest and post-test results, the data were analysed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 21 through the paired samples t-test procedure. The test results showed a Sig. 2-tailed value of 0.000, which was below the significance level of 0.05. These results indicate a significant difference in students’ mathematical abilities before and after learning through the PjBL model. This finding shows that project-based learning is effective in developing students’ mathematical abilities in integral calculus. Therefore, PjBL can be used as a relevant alternative learning model to support the improvement of students’ mathematical abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of mathematical problem-solving skills among students learning through the discovery learning model and to analyze whether the mathematical problem-solving skills of students learning through the discovery learning model are better than those of students learning through the direct instruction model in the eighth grade at State Junior High School 15 Padang. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach through a quasi-experimental method employing a posttest-only control group design. Data were collected through quizzes and a final test, then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed that the mathematical problem-solving skills of students in the experimental class improved across all indicators during the implementation of the discovery learning model. Descriptively, the average final test score for the experimental class was 60.50, while that for the control class was 51.12. The results of the Mann–Whitney test showed a significance value of 0.007, so H0 was rejected. Thus, students who learned using the Discovery Learning model had better mathematical problem-solving skills compared to those who learned using the direct instruction model in eighth grade at State Junior High School 15 Padang.
