Abstract

Final-year students are vulnerable to academic stress due to the demands of completing their thesis. Unmanaged stress can affect eating patterns and lead to changes in nutritional status. This study aimed to determine the relationship between stress levels and nutritional status among final-year undergraduate nursing students at Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA). This study employed a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 138 final-year students were selected using purposive sampling. Stress levels were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), while nutritional status was assessed using the Body Mass Index (BMI). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Gamma test. The results showed that most respondents experienced very severe stress (71.74%) and had normal nutritional status (47.83%). The Gamma test revealed a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of 0.429, indicating a significant relationship with moderate strength between stress levels and nutritional status. Conclusion there is a significant relationship between stress levels and nutritional status among final-year undergraduate nursing students at UNISSULA. Effective stress management is essential to maintain optimal nutritional status and overall health.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin action. Blood glucose control is influenced by various factors, one of which is dietary patterns. Diets that do not adhere to balanced nutrition principles can lead to poor glycemic control and increase the risk of complications. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 95 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus at Sari Asih Karawaci Hospital in 2025, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Dietary pattern data were collected using a questionnaire, while blood glucose level data were obtained from medical examination results. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Contingency Coefficient test. The results showed that most respondents had good dietary patterns (58.9%), and blood glucose levels within the normal category (51.6%). Bivariate analysis using the Contingency Coefficient test indicated a p-value of 0.005, demonstrating a significant relationship between dietary patterns and blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. There is a significant relationship between dietary patterns and blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Proper dietary management is an important factor in controlling blood glucose levels and should be a primary focus in nursing care and health education for patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that can cause impaired gas exchange due to lung tissue damage, increased mucus production, and decreased lung elasticity. This condition may lead to shortness of breath, decreased oxygen saturation, and ineffective breathing patterns. Non-pharmacological nursing interventions such as pursed lip breathing exercise and body positioning are needed to improve respiratory function. The combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position is expected to enhance alveolar ventilation and improve oxygenation in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.Method: This study is a quantitative research with a pre-experimental/quasi-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test approach. The sample consists of pulmonary tuberculosis patients who experience impaired gas exchange and meet the inclusion criteria. The intervention provided is a combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position. Gas exchange is measured by assessing oxygen saturation and respiratory rate before and after the intervention. Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical tests to determine the effect of the intervention. Results: The expected results of this study are an increase in oxygen saturation and improvement in respiratory rate after the application of the combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Conclusion: The combination of pursed lip breathing exercise and the high Fowler position is expected to have a positive effect on improving gas exchange in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and can be applied as an independent nursing intervention in clinical practice.

Abstract

Depression is a common mental health issue among older adults, particularly those living in social care facilities due to limited social support, declining physical function, and reduced independence. These factors can adversely affect quality of life and increase the risk of physical and psychological complications. This study employed a cross-sectional design with 135 elderly respondents residing in Pucang Gading Social Care Home and Wening Wardoyo Home. A total sampling technique was used. Data were collected using demographic questionnaires, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), a chronic disease questionnaire, the Barthel Index, and the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15). Data analysis included univariate, bivariate using Spearman’s test, and multivariate analysis using logistic regression. Most respondents were aged 60–74 years (63.0%) and female (63.0%). Spearman’s test indicated significant correlations between social support (p=0.000) and independence (p=0.000) with depression levels. Chronic diseases showed a significant but very weak relationship (p=0.034). Multivariate analysis identified social support as the most dominant factor associated with depression (p=0.002). Conclusion social support and independence are significantly associated with depression levels among older adults living in social care homes, with social support emerging as the most influential factor

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that not only affects physical condition but also affects the psychological health of sufferers, including depression, anxiety, and stress. This study aims to describe the levels of depression, anxiety, and stress in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Pucakwangi Community Health Center in Pati Regency. This study used a descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 117 respondents through total sampling. Data collection was conducted using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) questionnaire. The results showed that most respondents experienced anxiety (82 patients, 70.0%), the majority did not experience stress (97 patients, 83.0%), and some respondents experienced varying levels of depression. The psychological conditions experienced by patients have the potential to affect blood glucose control and adherence to treatment and therapy. This picture shows that the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus needs to consider psychological aspects as part of efforts to improve the quality of life of patients. A comprehensive approach between physical and psychological aspects is expected to support the success of therapy and prevent long-term complications
