Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the low literacy of students in utilizing reference management applications in the preparation of scientific papers. The objective of the activity was to improve students' understanding and skills in using Mendeley effectively and independently. The implementation method included training, development of a guide module, integration of use in lecture assignments, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed significant improvements, where 100% of participants were able to use Mendeley for citations and automatic bibliography compilation independently. In addition, there was an increase in the timeliness of assignment submissions and the quality of students' scientific writing. This comprehensive and sustainable approach has proven effective in forming more systematic and technology-based academic habits. This activity has the potential to be implemented more widely to support improving the quality of scientific writing in higher education.

Abstract

Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the effectiveness of sack race training as a game-based training strategy in improving explosive power and balance in early-age gymnasts (aged 6-9 years) compared to conventional training methods. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design, specifically a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 30 gymnasts who were divided into two groups: an experimental group (sack race training) and a control group (conventional training). The intervention was conducted twice a week for 12 sessions. The instruments used were the Vertical Jump test to measure explosive power and the Stork Stand Test to measure balance. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test for explosive power and the Independent t-test for balance at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that (1) the experimental group experienced an increase in explosive power of 16.20 (p=0.004); (2) an increase in balance of 20.58 (p=0.026); (3) the control group only increased by 8.24 in explosive power; and (4) 8.62 in balance. The conclusion of this study is that sack race training has a significant effect on improving explosive power and balance in early-age gymnasts and is more effective than conventional methods. The sack race is recommended as a fun, measurable alternative training method for children's gymnastics coaches. Keywords: Sack Race, Explosive Power, Balance, Early-Age Gymnasts

Abstract

AAFI Regional Jayapura is a futsal coaching organization that coordinates youth clubs, but not all coaches and managers have technical competence in injury prevention and rehabilitation, especially the use of kinesio taping. This community service program aims to strengthen the competence of AAFI Jayapura coaches and managers through systematic and applicable kinesio taping training. The method used is an educational-participatory approach through four stages, namely socialization, training, evaluation, and sustainability, which was implemented in June 2026. The increase in participants' understanding was measured through a paired t-test. The results showed a significant increase in the average score from 28.30 (pretest) to 40.90 (posttest) with p<0.05, which indicates an increase in the understanding of coaches and managers regarding the prevention and management of sports injuries using kinesio taping. These results confirm that structured and practice-based training effectively equips coaches and managers with the knowledge and skills to support safer and evidence-based athlete development.
