Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces a serious dichotomy due to the dominance of modern learning models that focus solely on academic intelligence, thereby neglecting spiritual, emotional, and social intelligence. This condition is contrary to the true purpose of Islamic education, which is oriented towards the development of a complete person (Insan Kamil). This study aims to analyze the urgency of integrating modern pedagogy with the fundamental values of the Quran and Hadith in order to formulate a holistic learning approach. Using the library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, this study conducts a conceptual synthesis and reviews the literature on integrative pedagogy. The analytical framework is reinforced by Amin Abdullah's concept of interconnection integration and Ismail Raji Al Faruqi's idea of Islamization of knowledge, which offer a philosophical basis for eliminating dichotomy. The results of the study show that contextualizing the values of the Quran and Hadith can strengthen the spiritual, moral, emotional, and social intelligence of students by developing the aspects of Ar Ruh, Al Qalb, Al Nafs, and Al Aql. It also improves critical thinking and social awareness. Modern learning models such as Problem Based Learning, Project Based Learning, Flipped Classroom, and Gamification become effective and religiously meaningful through this integration. The main contribution of this research is to offer a comprehensive conceptual framework for the development of an integrative Islam-based model that not only emphasizes cognitive mastery but also fosters a strong religious character. This integration is a strategic path towards a comprehensive vision of Islamic education.

The learning process of Islamic Religious Education and Ethics in elementary schools requires innovation that can improve the quality of education, one of which is through the application of the Inquiry Learning (IL) model. This study aims to examine the effect of the Inquiry Learning model on teacher competence, student interest and motivation to learn, and the achievement of learning outcomes in grade VI students at UPTD SDN 06 Guguak VIII Koto. Although many previous studies have examined the application of IL, there has been no research that specifically links IL with improving learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education and Budi Pekerti in elementary schools. The methodology used in this research is quantitative and qualitative approaches through Classroom Action Research (PTK). The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes, with pre-cycle learning completeness of 44.44%, cycle 1 of 55.56%, cycle 2 of 66.67%, and cycle 3 of 88.89%. The application of the Inquiry Learning model proved effective in improving students' competence in the field of Islamic Religious Education and Ethics, as well as increasing their learning motivation. Abstract

The phenomenon of declining social solidarity among modern santri (Islamic boarding school students) reflects a shifting value orientation within the pesantren environment. This condition raises an academic question about how pesantren, as traditional Islamic educational institutions, can maintain their religious habitus and social cohesion amid the growing forces of modernization and individualism. The gap between the ideality of Islamic education—emphasizing the formation of religious-communal character—and the increasingly fragmented social reality necessitates a profound sociological investigation. This study aims to analyze the religious habitus and social solidarity of santri within the framework of Islamic educational sociology based on Ibn Khaldun’s thought. The research employs a qualitative library-based method with an integrative approach that combines modern sociological theories (Pierre Bourdieu’s habitus and Émile Durkheim’s solidarity) with Islamic paradigms (the Qur’an, Hadith, and Ibn Khaldun’s Muqaddimah). Data were obtained through critical analysis of relevant classical and contemporary literature and examined using content analysis techniques to identify conceptual patterns and theoretical synthesis. The findings indicate that pesantren function not only as institutions for transmitting religious knowledge but also as arenas for value reproduction that shape the identity of santri. Religious habitus is formed through worship routines, moral discipline, and teacher–student relationships, while social solidarity grows through collective practices such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), ta’awun, and ukhuwah. Ibn Khaldun’s concept of ‘ashabiyyah provides a strong theoretical foundation for understanding santri solidarity as a social force sustaining the existence of pesantren. This study affirms that Islamic education should be understood as a social process that develops both religious individuals and empowered communities, while contributing theoretically to the development of Qur’an- and Hadith-based Islamic education studies within an interdisciplinary perspective.

Abstract

The The digital era has shifted religious authority among santri from a pesantren-centered structure to a more open and fragmented sphere. However, previous studies have largely framed religious moderation as a normative concept and have paid limited attention to its practical dynamics within the interaction of curriculum, pesantren culture, and digital media. This study aims to explore the dynamics of religious moderation implementation at Al-Makmur Tungkar Islamic Boarding School. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed inductively using an interactive model. The findings indicate that the implementation of religious moderation is complex and non-linear. The internalization of moderation values within the curriculum remains predominantly cognitive, while pesantren culture serves as a strong yet no longer absolute arena for value transmission. Furthermore, digital media has generated a phenomenon of dual authority that contributes to fragmentation between religious values, pesantren culture, and santri's religious practices. This study concludes that religious moderation constitutes a dynamic and negotiative social practice in the digital era.
