Abstract

Abstrak: Peternak babi di Kecamatan Reok menghadapi tantangan besar dalam praktik beternak mereka, termasuk kesejahteraan hewan, penyakit, dan dampak lingkungan. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan peternak dan menjaga lingkungan melalui praktik beternak babi yang berkelanjutan melalui peningkatan kemampuan hardskill dan softskill para peternak. Dengan memberikan pelatihan, penyuluhan, pendampingan, dan menerapkan praktik berkelanjutan, diharapkan masyarakat Reok dapat meningkatkan efisiensi beternak, mengurangi dampak lingkungan, dan meningkatkan pendapatan. Kolaborasi antara enam orang dosen, tiga orang mahasiswa, Kepala Camat Reok, dan empat puluh lima orang peternak babi yang berada di Kecamatan Reok bertujuan menciptakan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan dan kesejahteraan ekonomi yang lebih baik di Reok. Sistem evaluasi menggunakan pretest dan posttest untuk menilai efektivitas kegiatan pengabdian. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, dengan pemahaman peternak tentang praktik berkelanjutan meningkat dari 47% menjadi 80%. Dengan demikian, pengabdian ini diharapkan memberikan kontribusi yang signifikan terhadap kesejahteraan dan keberlanjutan lingkungan di Kecamatan Reok. Abstract: Pig farmers in the Reok District face significant challenges in their farming practices, including animal welfare, diseases, and environmental impacts. This community service aims to improve the welfare of farmers and preserve the environment through sustainable pig farming practices by enhancing both the hard and soft skills of the farmers. By providing training, education, mentoring, and implementing sustainable practices, it is hoped that the Reok community can increase farming efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance income. Collaboration between six lecturers, three students, the Head of the Reok District, and forty-five pig farmers in the Reok District aims to create a sustainable environment and better economic well-being in Reok. The evaluation system employs pretest and posttest methods to assess the effectiveness of the community service. The evaluation results indicate a significant improvement, with pig farmers' understanding of sustainable practices increasing from 47% to 80%. Thus, this community service is expected to make a significant contribution to the welfare and environmental sustainability in the Reok District.

Abstract

Abstrak: Sejak zaman nenek moyang, sebagaian besar penduduk Desa Golo Wua bermata pencaharian petani dan peternak dengan latar belakang tingkat pendidikan yang bervariasi. Minimnya pendidikan formal dan non formal di bidang manajemen kesehatan ternak membuat peternak mengalami kerugian ekonomi yang cukup besar. Kolaborasi antara enam orang dosen, sembilan orang mahasiswa, Kepala Desa Golo Wua, Ketua Adat, dan empat puluh lima peternak babi yang berada di Desa Golo Wua bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak babi dalam manajemen kesehatan ternak. Kegiatan ini dimulai dengan survei awal untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan dan permasalahan peternak melalui metode wawancara kepada pemangku kepentingann di Desa Golo Wua. Hasil wawancara tersebut kemudian menjadi dasar dalam penyusunan materi dan modul pelatihan. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan metode partisipatif yang diawali dengan pemberian teori dan dilanjutkan dengan praktik langsung di lapangan yang berfokus pada pencegahan penyakit dan kebersihan kandang. Sistem evaluasi menggunakan pretest dan postest untuk menilai efektivitas kegiatan pengabdian. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan praktik peternak terkait manajemen kesehatan ternak babi dari 53% menjadi 84%. Abstract: Since ancient times, most residents of Golo Wua Village have worked as farmers and livestock breeders, with varying levels of educational backgrounds. Limited formal and informal education in livestock health management has led to significant economic losses for livestock farmers. A collaboration between six lecturers, nine students, the Head of Golo Wua Village, the Traditional Leader, and thirty pig farmers in Golo Wua Village aims to improve the knowledge and skills of pig farmers in livestock health management. This activity began with an initial survey to identify the needs and challenges of farmers through interviews with key stakeholders in Golo Wua Village. The interview results then formed the basis for developing training materials and modules. The training was conducted using a participatory method, beginning with theoretical sessions followed by hands-on practice in the field, focusing on disease prevention and pen hygiene. The evaluation system employed pre-tests and post-tests to assess the effectiveness of this outreach activity. Evaluation results indicated a significant increase in farmers' understanding and practices related to pig health management, from 53% to 84%.

Abstract

Usaha peternakan babi turut memegang peran penting dalam penyediaan protein hewani bagi masyarakat dan turut berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan pendapatan ekonomi rumah tangga peternak namun dihadapi oleh wabah penyakit African Swine Fever (ASF). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dampak wabah ASF dari aspek: kepemilikan ternak, lokasi kandang, keberlanjutan usaha dan sumbangan usaha serta produksi ternak terhadap sosial ekonomi rumah tangga peternak babi di kecamatan Kuwus kabupaten Manggarai Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dengan wawancara mengunakan kuesioner dan ditabulasi dengan program Miscrosocft Excel dan diuji regresi linear berganda dengan program SPSS-17 guna memperoleh bukti-bukti dan gambaran oleh peternak babi dan masyarakat dalam menghadapi wabah ASF yang secara langsung maupun secara tidak langsung. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dan pembahasan, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa dampak wabah ASF terhadap sosial ekonomi rumah tangga peternak babi di kecamatan Kuwus kabupaten Manggarai Barat dari beberapa aspek yakni; persentase kematian ternak babi sebesar 89,34%, sistem pemeliharaan ternak berlokasi dekat dengan lingkungan masyarakat sebesar 85,71%, faktor motivasi peternak adalah faktor kelanjutan usaha yang mendorong peternak karena tuntutan kehidupan sosial ataupun status sosial masyarakat yang masih bergantungan dengan perannya ternak dan daging babi, pada kondisi ASF peternak menjual ternaknya dengan harga yang murah agar megurangi kerugian serta bahaya penyakit ASF menyebabkan ketakutan dalam mengkonsumsi daging babi dan masyarakat juga belum mamahami upaya pencegahan yang harus dilakukannya sehingga menimbulkan rasa kekhawatiran yang traumatis dalam memelihara ternak babi.

Abstract

Consumer preference is a choice of the level of importance or level of consumer preference for a product that wants to be purchased or consumed. This study aims to analyze the attributes of broiler chicken meat products that are consumer preferences in the city of Kefamenanu, North Central Timor district, in buying broiler chicken meat. The study was conducted from February 2023 to April 2023. Janis this research is quantitative descriptive research with survey research method. Using 60 respondents, who were selected by accidental sampling method, samples were taken based on their willingness to fill out questionnaires and interviewed during a visit to broiler chicken meat traders in the new market of Kefamenanu city. The collected data will be analyzed using the Conjoint analysis tool. The results showed that the combination of attributes that are most widely preferred or become consumer preferences is broiler chicken meat with attributes: chewy textured meat, clean from feather dirt and fat, with large meat cut sizes, prices ranging from Rp 60,000-Rp 75,000, and bright meat color (yellowish white).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the effect of using leaf in basal rations on dry matter consumption and organic matter digestibility on landrace grade pigs. The material used in this study were 12 starter pigs for landrace breeds at the age of 1-2 months, variations in body weight from 10,5 kg - 18,5 kg on avege 16,7 kg and coefficient of variation 18,76 %. The design used was a randomized block design consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment tried is R0 100 % basal rations without noni leat flour (NLF), R1: 98 % basal ration + 2 % NLF, R2: 96 % basal rations + 4% NLF, R3: 94 % basal rations + 6 % NLF. The measured variable is dry matter intake, organic matter the results of variance showed that the use noni leaf flour had no significant effect (P>0,05) on the consumption and digestibility of dry materials and organic materials of Landrace pig breeding. The conclusion of this study is that the use of noni leaves 2,4,6 % in basal ration provides relatively similar benefits to dry matter consumption, organic matter digestibility and digestibility and digestibility organic matter in pig livestock.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how to use Earring Leaf Flour for basal diet for intake and digestibility of Calcium and Phosphor on pigs . The materials used were 12 male pigs of Landrace breeding which received 1-2 months with initial body weight of 30-50 kg, an average of 37.92 kg and (KV = 13,66%). This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with 4 preparations and 3 replications. The treatment tried was R0: 100% basal diet without leaves Earring (control), R1: 98% basal diet + 2% leaf Earring, R2: 96% basal diet + 4% leaf Earring, R3: basal diet 94% + 6% leaf earrings. The variables consumed were intake and digestibility of Calcium and Phosphor. The results showed that the study was not significant (P> 0.05) for intake and digestibility of calcium, and phosphor. Conclusion is the use of leaves Earrings up to 6% give a relatively similar response to the intake and digestibility of Calcium and Phosphor.
