Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused an economic crisis, the price of feed is increasing so that the selling price of catfish no longer matches the price of the feed provided. The focus of community service in the Tanjung Kasau Plantation village is to assist fish farmers in managing and increasing fish farmers' income. The priority objective of this activity is efforts to improve the economy, namely increasing income in terms of production costs, both fish feed, production cost management and training in maggot cultivation by utilizing surrounding waste, namely solid palm oil waste. The implementation method is carried out in 3 stages which involve problems in the fields of production and management. This service activity uses education, training and mentoring methods. Community-Based Empowerment Activities carried out at the Tangkas Mina Jaya Group in Tanjung Kasau Plantation Village ran smoothly, marked by good community participation from the start to the end of the activity. Community-Based Empowerment Activities also provide a positive impact by increasing community knowledge and skills

Abstract

Abstract

Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) is an economic fish that is continuously utilized by fisheries actors to meet the demand for public consumption. Research on the Relationship between the Length and Weight of Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) Landed at Tanjung Tiram Batu Bara Port was conducted on August 5-September 4, 2025. This study aims to measure the length and weight of Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata), To determine the body shape of Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata), To determine the condition of the waters where Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) are caught, and the results of this study may be a reference in maintaining Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) resources for fishermen who catch Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) excessively using survey and analysis methods. The results of this study were obtained from a total of 50 fish, namely fish lengths ranging from 141 mm to 189 mm, where the dominant total length of fish caught was in the average range of 162.08 mm. Meanwhile, the weight of Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) ranges from 24 to 52 grams, with an average fish weight of 38.10 grams. The result of the b value calculation obtained in the Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) test is 1.3537. Based on the b value obtained, it can be stated that the length of the fish weight is <3, which means negative allometric which means that the length growth is faster than the weight growth. The result of the K calculation in the Puput Fish (Ilisha Elongata) test is 2.7609 which means that the shape of the fish is flat (plump).

Abstract

Ikan Sidat or eel fish (Anguilla bicolor) is a popular fish commodity in domestic trade as well as for export commodity. The use of marine yeast as fodder suffers from some weaknesses since it contains nucleic acids and rigid thick cell walls that obstruct the absorbance of nutrition. Optimizing the use of marine yeast as fodder ingredients can be done by fragmenting and reducing the yeast. This research attempts at optimizing the use of marine yeast regarding its rate of growth, fodder efficiency and the survival rate of eel fish. This research employs the complete random design using 4 different treatments and 3 repetition. In the four treatments, the fodder contained protein (45%) and iso energy (3.600 kkal.kg-1 fodder), which were applied to the treatment A 0% (control), B 5% (complete), C 5% (fragmented) and D 5% (reduced). The parameters used in this study were survival rate, specific growth rate, ratio of fodder conversion, ratio of protein efficiency, energy retention, protein retention and rate of metabolism. The data of this study showed the best result in the treatment D, 5% (reduced), showing survival rate value of 95.56%, specific growth at 1.12, food conversion ratio of 2.27, protein efficiency ratio of 0.98, protein retention at 18.26%, energy retention of 16.57, and protein metabolism rate at 81.96%. Keywords: eel fish, growth, marine yeast.
