Abstract

Air merupakan sumber daya alam yang sangat penting bagi kehidupan. Air dapat diperoleh dari darat, mata air, danau, air laut dan sungai. Untuk mengolah air dan membuat air penguapan kita memiliki matahari. Dengan matahari kita memiliki energi potensial. Energi matahari Indonesia sangat banyak. Energi matahari yang melimpah di Indonesia untuk radiasi matahari dapat memberikan hasil dengan memanfaatkan energi untuk teknologi termal dan teknologi sel fotovoltaik. Air di darat dan laut harus menguap karena panas matahari. Penguapan berkumpul menjadi awan, kemudian mengembun dan pendinginan akan membentuk titik-titik air dan terjadi hujan. Proses itu membutuhkan energi. Metode eksergi adalah alternatif, teknik baru yang relatif berdasarkan konsep eksergi, yang secara longgar didefinisikan sebagai ukuran universal dari potensi kerja atau kualitas energi yang berbeda dalam kaitannya dengan lingkungan tertentu. Perbandingan eksergi desalinasi lereng ganda aktif dengan luas cekungan seluas 1.932 m2 dengan permukaan kaca 1 m2 dengan ketebalan kaca 3 mm. Ketinggian air dari dasar 20 mm dan dengan kolektor surya ukuran area 1m2 lebar 500mm2 diuji selama 8 hari pada bulan Agustus 2018 mulai pukul 8:00 sampai 18:00. Perbandingan nilai eksergi dari perhitungan desalinasi aktif tanpa kolektor surya dan dengan kolektor surya nilai eksergi tertinggi pada pengujian hari pertama pukul 11.00 adalah 101.827 dan dengan kolektor surya 12.00 adalah 225.238 kWh, nilai eksergi tertinggi pada pengujian hari kedua pukul 16.00 adalah 7.930 dan 17.00 WIB adalah 52.332 kWh, nilai eksergi tertinggi pada pukul 12.00 adalah 67.134 dan pukul 13.00 WIB sebesar 13.680 kWh, nilai eksergi tertinggi pada hari keempat pada pukul 13.00 sebesar 172.618 dan pukul 11.00 WIB sebesar 6.734 kWh, nilai eksergi tertinggi pada pengujian hari kelima pada pukul 13.00 sebesar 182.208 dan pukul 12.00 WIB pada 22.218 kWh.

Abstract

Salah satu masalah yang sedang dihadapi di beberapa daerah di Indonesia adalah air. Air merupakan sumber kehidupan yang digunakan untuk berbagai keperluan. Salah satu sumber air yang sering digunakan oleh masyarakat adalah sungai. Sungai merupakan salah satu habitat hidup air bagi sebagian makhluk hidup air tawar. Salah satu unsur kualitas air adalah tingkat kecerahannya. Air dengan tingkat kecerahan yang tinggi sangat memungkinkan terjadinya proses asimilasi dalam perairan. Tingkat kecerahan air sangat mempengaruhi proses fotosintesis fitoplankton. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk membantu masyarakat Kelurahan BP. Nauli Kecamatan Siantar Marihat Kota Pematangsiantar dalam mengetahui tingkat kecerahan air sungai Bah Toge sehingga air sungai dapat dipergunakan untuk berbagai kegiatan yang menguntungkan seperti tambak ikan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah memberikan pelatihan dalam pembuatan Secci disk serta penggunaannya. Dari hasil pengujian terhadap kecerahan air sungai Bah Toge diketahui bahwa tingkat kecerahan air pada sungai Bah Toge masih sangat keruh dengan tingkat kecerahan di bawah 50% dari kedalam air.

Abstract

One of the problems being faced in several regions in Indonesia is the source of electrical energy. The demand for electricity from year to year has increased. The development of free energy technology needs to be developed to cover the rapidly increasing demand for electricity. One that can be developed is micro-hydro power plant technology that utilizes water flow as a source of electricity. To make a micro hydro power plant, it is necessary to do research on the available discharge and how much energy and power is generated at that location. The purpose of this community service activity is to help the community find out the potential of river flows in Toba Village, South Siantar District, Pematangsiantar City in its utilization for micro hydro power plants. The method of implementing the activity is Head observation (falling height), river flow velocity, river width, and river flow depth. From the results of observations and measurements of discharge at the service location, it is known that the head (fall height) is 0.5 meters, the river flow speed is 0.74 m/s, the river width is 6.5 meters and the river flow depth is 0.3 meters so that an empirical calculation of the generator discharge is obtained at 1.433 m3/sec., and the power that can be generated is 7.08 kW.

Abstract

River pollution is the entry of various substances and non-biodegradable objects that result in contaminated water and loss of function. Besides being a source of various diseases, water pollution also causes flooding. Protecting the river is the same as maintaining survival in the future. Rivers have been the most important part of human life since ancient times. In human evolution, rivers and lakes played an unimaginable role. Rivers are not only important for animals and birds to live, but are also a major source of drinking water. And their environmental value, economic value, and spiritual value touch everyone in the world. In India, people at one time even worshiped rivers as life-giving gods and goddesses. The reason is that every time we search for life, we look for a drop of water first. Rivers carry water and nutrients to areas around the earth. They play a very important role in the water cycle, acting as drainage channels for surface water. Rivers flow almost 75% of the earth's land surface.

Abstract

The purpose of this PkM is to provide welding competency skills to SMK Samudera Indonesia Medan students as a provision to enter the job field or for entrepreneurship for SMK and help the productive process of SMKs that lack funding and practicum facilities. The method used to solve the problems that have been formulated, we need a method that must be followed in order to be able to do a good solution, here is the solution method, namely a survey in SMK to get data for PkM as needed, formulate training materials, make a schedule for the implementation of training related to time, arrange instructors who will provide training, make a design evaluation of activities, The implementation of welding training activities was followed by students. The results of the PkM implementation are as follows: Welding skills that can equip vocational students to enter the world of work are being able to operate a welding machine correctly and be able to connect plates using welding. The responses from vocational students with training assistance from the UHKBPNP Mechanical Engineering Study Program are as follows: they are happy because they have received welding skills which they have not done optimally and the teachers hope that next year they can continue with other programs.

Abstract

The shortage of clean water sources on the earth's surface is a concern for the future. Utilization of solar thermal energy is something that can be done to get an environmentally friendly system. Desalination process is a method to produce clean water that is cheap and safe. With the experimental method, the desalination process is tested by providing a working system that considers the materials used and the addition of supporting work tools. The evaporator cover is designed to be made of clear glass with a thickness of 3 mm and an area of 1 m2 with a double slope model with an angle of 15o to the east and west, and was tested for 8 days. The result of the radiation heat transfer coefficient is that the highest convection coefficient outside the evaporator is 97.94 W/m2 on the fourth day and the value of the radiation heat transfer coefficient from the glass surface to the environment is 83.85 W/m2 on the second day. Meanwhile, the highest evaporative heat transfer coefficient was 20.30 W/m2 on day four, the highest convection heat transfer coefficient was 3.08 W/m2 on the first day, and the highest radiation heat transfer coefficient was 13.18 W/m2

Abstract

The market demand for eel is very high. In January – August 2011 the export volume of eel decreased by 39.1% from the same period in 2010. The decline in exports was the impact of constraints on eel cultivation, namely the long growth of fish. A good feed for eels is fresh meat feed from fish, crustaceans, and shellfish. The composition of the feed has an impact on the high cost of feed production. Brachiopoda lingulata are often found in the waters of Batubara Regency as "tail clams". Lantern shells are waste that can be used as fish feed ingredients, besides having high nutrition, Brachiopoda lingulata also have bioactive substances in their bodies. This study aimed to examine the effect of using Brachiopoda lingulata pedicles on eel growth based on survival response, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and protein retention of eel (A. bicolor) stadia elver. The method used is an experimental method where this method is to see the causal relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable. Experimental research consisted of 5 treatments with 3 replications, carried out on a laboratory scale to minimize external influences. Data analysis with quantitative methods. The test was analyzed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the analysis tested the effect of treatment, followed by the Smallest Significant Difference (BNT) test. The addition of the best Brachiopoda lingulata pedicle flour is 2% of fish meal protein substitution seen from the survival response, namely 95.6%, specific growth rate 0.95%/BW/day, feed conversion ratio 2.64 and protein efficiency ratio 0.83.

Abstract

The purpose of this PkM is to provide training and assistance regarding basic welding techniques that are useful for increasing student competence in welding. This training and mentoring in welding techniques serves as a provision for students to enter the world of work and entrepreneurship for SMK graduates as well as assisting the productive process of SMK students who lack funds and practicum facilities to improve their competence in the field of welding. The method used to solve the problems that occur is to use the survey method at SMK to obtain PkM data as needed, formulate training materials, schedule time-related training implementations, arrange instructors who will provide training, make activity evaluation designs, carry out training and mentoring activities Welding techniques were attended by students of SMK Samudra Indonesia, welding teachers, students and lecturers of Mechanical Engineering at the Medan State Polytechnic. The results of the PkM implementation are as follows: Welding skills that can equip SMK students to enter the world of work are being able to operate a welding machine properly and being able to connect plates using welding. The responses from SMK students who took part in the training and assistance from the Medan State Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering Study Program were as follows: they were happy because they had acquired welding skills that they had not mastered to their full potential and the teachers hoped that next year they could continue with other programs.

Abstract

In recent times, many studies have been carried out on desalination systems in areas that have difficulty in obtaining clean water sources. Desalination is a method used to distill salt water or brackish water into clean water using solar power as its energy source. This desalination process is a practical alternative that can be used to offer renewable energy sources that are used to produce clean water. To perform energy analysis, the first law of thermodynamics is used as a basis. This study aims to obtain the results of the amount of energy obtained from the solar desalination system and to determine the factors that greatly affect the amount of energy obtained from the system for evaporating water. The method used in this research is an experiment by testing a solar desalination device for eight days. The results show that the highest thermal energy produced is 8.98 kWh and the lowest is 1.56 kWh, and the factors that influence the amount of thermal energy are the heat transfer coefficient and the amount of distilled water produced by the system.

Abstract

The aim of PMKM is to provide training and assistance regarding computer-based technical drawing (AutoCad) which is useful for increasing students' competence in drawing. Training and assistance in computer-based technical drawing (Auto Cad) which is useful for increasing students' competence in technical drawing as a preparation for students to enter the world of work and entrepreneurship for vocational school graduates. The method used to resolve the problems that occurred was to use a survey method at SMK 1 Raksana Medan to obtain PMKM data, then the PMKM team formulated training materials, created a training implementation schedule related to time, arranged instructors who would provide training, created activity evaluation designs. The results of implementing PMKM are: Students understand the basic introduction to using AutoCad and the basic commands used for drawing, especially drawing machine components.
