Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of teaching methods and learning media on student learning outcomes in chemistry subjects, as well as the interaction between the two. This study is a quasi-experiment with a 2x2 factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) design, which considers moderator variables that may affect the relationship between independent and dependent variables. The study population was grading the instrument used was a multiple-choice objective test whose validity was tested logically and empirically. The homogeneity test used the Levene Test and the hypothesis was tested using Two-Way Analysis of Variance (Two Way ANOVA). The results showed that: (1) the PBL teaching method provided higher chemistry learning outcomes than the conventional method (p = 0.023 < α = 0.05); (2) the use of audiovisual media produced higher learning outcomes than visual media (p = 0.000 < α = 0.05); and (3) there is no significant interaction between teaching methods and learning media in influencing chemistry learning outcomes (p = 0.317 > α = 0.05). This shows that teaching methods and learning media have an independent influence on chemistry learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the feasibility of a conservation biology textbook that integrates Islamic values into biology education. The textbook was developed to provide a deeper understanding of conservation biology through a faith-based approach, relevant to higher education. The feasibility analysis involved language and media experts, covering linguistic, presentation, and graphic aspects. The results showed an average score of 95.40% for linguistic aspects, 90.80% for presentation aspects, and 90.50% for graphic aspects, all of which fall into the "highly valid" category. The book is considered to have a consistent structure, supportive illustrations, and language use appropriate to students' developmental levels. The integration of Islamic values enriches the understanding of the material and adds relevance within a religious-based educational context.

Abstract

Peer influence has a significant impact on students' behavior, attitudes and perceptions of learning. Peer influence is also predicted to be related to students' learning performance and motivation. The support and positive influence of peer influence can provide an important boost for students to reach their full academic potential. This study aims to identify the relationship between peer influence with learning performance and motivation. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a descriptive and correlational approach. The population consisted of grade X students at SMAN 6 Kerinci and SMAN 4 Sungai Penuh. The sampling technique was conducted using cluster sampling technique. The sample amounted to 175 students from 3 classes of students from each schools. The results showed a positive relationship among the variables. The relationship between peer influence and performance with coefficient of 0.370 and a significance of 0.000, the relationship between peerinfluence and motivation with coefficient of 0.431 and a significance of 0.000, and the relationship between performance and motivation with coefficient of 0.714 and a significance of 0.000. This study found that the stronger the positive influence of peer influence, the higher the performance and motivation of students to learn.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality and feasibility of an ethnobotany textbook integrated with Islamic science as an alternative learning resource for students in the Biology Education Study Program. The textbook was developed using the ADDIE model. The developed textbook underwent validation by three experts: a material expert, with a score of 95%; a design expert, with a score of 85,6%; and a language expert, with a score of 93,3%. Practical testing conducted by students and lecturers resulted in an average score of 85.6%, categorizing the textbook as highly practical. The findings indicate that the textbook is both effective and practical to utilize in the learning process. Key strengths of the textbook include its alignment with the lesson plan/course profile and the seamless integration of Islamic science into each section of the textbook.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of transformational leadership, academic culture, and workload on lecturer performance, with organizational engagement as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative survey of 210 permanent lecturers at Indonesian state Islamic universities and analyzed through SEM (AMOS 24), the study finds that transformational leadership and academic culture positively influence both engagement and performance. At the same time, workload negatively impacts engagement and has no direct effect on performance. Engagement partially mediates the influence of leadership and culture, and fully mediates the effect of workload on performance. These findings emphasize the importance of supportive leadership, strong academic culture, and effective workload management in enhancing lecturer engagement and performance, offering strategic insights for institutional reform in higher education.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, biology education faces challenges in integrating modern science with religious values, particularly in the context of conservation biology. The urgency of this research lies in the scarcity of formal biology education literature in Indonesia that incorporates Islamic principles, despite the potential of values such as khalifah fil ardh (stewardship of the earth) and tabdzir (prohibition of wastefulness) to provide ethical guidance for environmental preservation. This study aims to develop and validate a conservation biology textbook based on Islamic values for higher education using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The validation process involved five experts evaluating the content, language, presentation, and graphic aspects using a Likert-scale instrument. The results indicate that the textbook achieved a "highly valid" category, with average scores of 95.45% (content), 95.40% (language), 90.80% (presentation), and 90.50% (graphics). Experts provided valuable input for further refinement, including improving illustrations, enhancing conceptual interconnections, and adjusting advance organizers to increase learning engagement. These suggestions were incorporated into the final revision, making the textbook more effective in fostering holistic learning that integrates science and ethical values. This research recommends further studies to assess the effectiveness of the textbook in large-scale learning environments, the development of similar teaching materials for other disciplines, and the integration of more contextually relevant religious values into higher education to support the formation of ethically and scientifically literate generations.
