Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of long-term disability and requires continuous management, including rehabilitation and routine follow-up, to prevent recurrence. Optimal recovery depends not only on medical interventions but also on the patient's ability to consistently engage in self-management. One of the psychological factors influencing self-management behavior is the health locus of control, which refers to an individual's belief in their ability to control their health status. This study aims to analyze the relationship between health locus of control and self-management among stroke patients. A descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed, involving 50 respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire and analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that the majority of respondents (48%) had a moderate level of self-management, and 44% had an internal health locus of control. A significant relationship was found between health locus of control and self-management among stroke patients (p = 0.000), with a correlation coefficient of 0.946 indicating a very strong positive relationship. These findings suggest that the higher an individual’s belief in their ability to control their health, the better their self-management. Therefore, nursing interventions that focus on enhancing health locus of control can serve as an important strategy in the rehabilitation of stroke patients. It is recommended that healthcare professionals, particularly nurses, develop educational programs and psychosocial interventions aimed at strengthening the health locus of control of stroke patients to support long-term success in self-management.

Abstract

Introduction: Diarrhea in toddlers is a significant health problem in Indonesia, with severe impacts such as dehydration, malnutrition, and death. Environmental, socio-economic factors and limited maternal knowledge about handling diarrhea influence the high incidence rate. Objective: This study aims to describe mothers' level of knowledge about handling diarrhea in toddlers in Banjar Kampung Islam Kepaon. Methods: The research was quantitative descriptive with a purposive sampling technique and involved 115 samples. Data was collected using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents had a sufficient level of knowledge about handling diarrhea in toddlers, namely 64 respondents (55.7%), of which 57 respondents (49.6%) were 26-35 years old who worked as housewives as many as 64 respondents (55.7%), with the last education of high school/vocational school as many as 62 respondents (53.9%) and obtained information sources through health workers as many as 78 respondents (67.8%). The majority of mothers' knowledge levels were the lowest, related to the question of giving zinc according to age, dehydration condition, and time of administration, which was 37 respondents (32.17%), and the highest was related to the question of bringing toddlers to health services if diarrhea does not improve in 3 days as many as 112 respondents (97.39%). The level of maternal knowledge is quite influenced by exposure to information through health worker education programs. Conclusion: These results show the need for more targeted education-based interventions, especially zinc administration and signs of dehydration, to improve the mother's ability to manage diarrhea optimally.

Elementary school-aged children are among the groups vulnerable to dengue fever transmission, so adequate knowledge regarding early prevention efforts is needed. Schools have an important role as a means of health education to shape dengue fever prevention behavior in students. Purpose: To analyze the level of knowledge regarding Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) prevention among students. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was all 80 students in grades III–VI, with a sample of 67 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire regarding the level of knowledge of dengue fever prevention, then analyzed using univariate analysis to determine the frequency distribution and percentage. Results: The results showed that most of the respondents were aged 12 years (32 students (47.8%) and the majority were female (43 students (64.2%). The level of student knowledge regarding dengue fever prevention was dominated by the sufficient category with 44 respondents (65.7%), followed by the good category with 18 respondents (26.9%), and the poor category with 5 respondents (7.5%).
