Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on elementary students' mathematical critical thinking skills and resilience. Employing a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group, the research involved 45 fifth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. Validated instruments, aligned with higher-order thinking and affective constructs, were used to assess critical thinking and mathematical resilience. Quantitative findings demonstrated that the PBL model led to statistically significant improvements in both constructs. Students in the experimental group outperformed their peers, with large effect sizes (Cohen’s d = 2.51 for critical thinking, 2.35 for resilience), and the Mann-Whitney U test confirmed significant intergroup differences. Furthermore, Spearman correlation analysis (r = 0.460, p < 0.05) revealed a moderate positive relationship between resilience and critical thinking. Qualitative analysis showed that students with higher resilience provided more reflective and elaborate responses. The study emphasizes the educational potential of integrating affective-cognitive instructional models. PBL not only enhances academic performance but also supports students’ emotional persistence and adaptability in learning mathematics. However, limitations such as small sample size and sampling method should be considered in interpreting the results. The study concludes that fostering mathematical resilience is essential to optimizing the cognitive benefits of PBL and recommends teacher training and curriculum strategies to implement this dual-focused approach effectively.

Abstract

This research was motivated by students' low reading comprehension abilities and the lack of student activity in classroom learning activities. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the cooperative integrated reading composition learning model on fourth grade students' reading comprehension ability with story material. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental, with a sample size of 30 experimental class students and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The results of this research can be seen from the results of calculations using the Paired Sample t-Test type t test and the t test results obtained with a t value of 25.202, which can be interpreted as greater than t table 2.042, with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.05, so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. These results can be interpreted as meaning that there is an influence of the cooperative integrated reading composition learning model on students' reading comprehension abilities in class IV of MIS Al-Hidayah. It is hoped that the results of this research will be useful for school principals, teachers, students, and future researchers.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low level of listening ability in Indonesian language subjects and the lack of active participation in learning activities. This research also aims to determine the effect of using audio-visual media on the ability to listen to Indonesian language subjects. The method used in this research was quasi-experimental with a sample size of 29 students at SDN Karang Satria 02 for the 2022/2023 academic year, even semester, with a one group pretest posttest research design. Data collection techniques are documentation and tests. The research results can be seen from the results of calculations using the Paired Sample t-test type and the t test results obtained with a t value of -8.175. With a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.000 and a significance level of 0.05. This means that the significance of 0.000 is less than 0.05 so that is H0 rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of audio-visual media on the ability to listen to Indonesian language subjects in class V of SDN Karang Satria 02. The results of this research are expected to be useful to related parties who can use them, such as school principals, teachers, students and future researchers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi pengaruh penggunaan media pembelajaran flashcard terhadap kemampuan anak-anak dengan disleksia di sekolah dasar. Disleksia adalah gangguan belajar yang menghambat kemampuan membaca, menulis, dan mengeja, sehingga memerlukan pendekatan pembelajaran khusus. Flashcard, sebagai alat bantu visual yang menampilkan gambar dan teks sederhana, telah terbukti efektif dalam membantu anak-anak mengingat dan memahami konsep-konsep dasar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka, di mana data sekunder dari berbagai sumber, seperti jurnal akademik, buku, dan laporan penelitian, dikumpulkan dan dianalisis untuk menilai efektivitas flashcard dalam konteks pembelajaran anak-anak dengan disleksia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa flashcard berdampak positif pada kemampuan membaca dan menulis, dengan meningkatkan pengenalan huruf dan kosakata. Selain itu, flashcard memungkinkan pengulangan secara terstruktur dan memberikan fleksibilitas dalam metode pembelajaran. Namun, keberhasilan penggunaan flashcard dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor seperti desain yang menarik, interaksi guru-siswa, dan dukungan dari lingkungan sekolah dan keluarga. Direkomendasikan bahwa flashcard digunakan sebagai bagian dari strategi pembelajaran yang lebih luas untuk mendukung anak-anak disleksia di sekolah dasar. Flashcard yang efektif harus dirancang dengan konten yang sederhana dan menarik, serta diintegrasikan dengan pendekatan pembelajaran multisensori dan aktivitas interaktif. Dengan pendekatan yang tepat, flashcard dapat menjadi alat yang efektif dalam menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang inklusif dan mendukung bagi anak-anak disleksia.

Abstract

Purpose: Bullying in elementary schools is a serious problem that can affect children's social and emotional well-being. This research aims to analyze the character-building capital applied in homeschooling and how this influences the social behavior of elementary school children in the context of bullying prevention. Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods and observations of parents and children participating in homeschooling. Findings: The research results show that homeschooling provides flexibility in the application of character values that can be adapted according to the child's individual needs. Character education methods applied in homeschooling, such as a values-based approach and direct parental involvement, have proven effective in increasing children's empathy, responsibility and social skills. This research provides new insight into the role of homeschooling in character formation and bullying prevention, and offers recommendations for developing more effective character education strategies in the homeschooling context. It is hoped that these findings will contribute to parents, educators and policy makers in creating a safer and more supportive educational environment for these children. Paper type: Research paper

Abstract

The purpose of this study was carried out to find out the achievements of 12 students in reading aloud before and after the experiment of fairytale method assistance conducted by parents at home and to know how much influence parent storytelling assistance has on the achievements of 12 students who experienced delays in reading aloud. Researchers used quasi-experimental one group pretest n posttes. Data collection using tests that are then processed using the statistic t-test. This research activity collaborates with their parents to be willing to do storytelling assistance activities for their children for 2 weeks. The results of data processing found a difference in the average reading ability of pre-test and post-tests in 12 children who experienced a delay in reading aloud by 5.4. T-test results obtained a significance value of 0.00 less than 0.05 then the test results were received. This research has proven the influence of storytelling treatment on the increasing ability to read aloud children, especially in children who experience delays in reading.
