Abstract

The aim of this study was to study the effect of Indigofera sp. leaf meal and lemuru fish oil in rations on physical quality of Magelang duck’s egg. One hundred and eighty laying duks of 22 weeks old were randomly divided into 6 experimental units with 3 replications. The experimental design used was a factorial completely randomized design 3 x 2, the first factor was levels of Indigofera sp. leaf meal (0%, 5.5% and 11%) and the second factor was levels of lemuru fish oil (0% and 2%).  Parameters observed were egg weight, percentage of albumen weight, percentage of yolk weight, percentage of egg shell weight, egg shell thickness and yolk color. The result showed that the use 11 % of Indigofera sp. leaf meal or  2% of lemuru fish oil  increased  significantly (P<0.01) percentage of albumen weight and yolk color,  and reduced significantly (P>0.05) egg weight and  percentage of yolk weight.  The treatments had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on  percentage of egg shell weight and egg shell thickness.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate fresh dandelion leaves on turkey performance. The study used a complete randomized design of 4 treatments and 6 replications. A total number of 24 turkeys (Meleagris gallapavo)-12 week-old were used in this 5 weeks of feed trial. The experimental animals were fed with the diet containing 37% of commercial broiler starter diet, 40% rice bran and forage (water hyacinth and fresh dandelion leaves). The treatments with fresh dandelion leaves addition were P0: 0%, P1: 5%, P2: 10%, and P3: 15%. The variables observed were bio active compound in dandelion leaves, daily behavior and turkey performance. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the significant differences between treatments were analyzed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that dandelion leaves contain flavonoids, tannins, saponins and steroids, vitamin D were 17.37 ppm and antioxidants IC50 have an antioxidant activity with a value of 102.31. Observation of daily behavior showed that turkeys behavior was dominated by eating and resting activities, where the highest frequency of resting activities was 0.43 per second (P0). Turkey performance were not significantly different on feed consumption, carcass weight, carcass percentage for all treatments but significantly different (p<0.05) on average daily gain (AVG) and feed conversion ratio. Therefore it can be concluded that fresh dendelion leaves are able to used up to 15% in turkey diet. Abstract

The aim of this research was to measure the effect of yellow corn substitution with banana peel meal as a beta-carotene and antioxidant source in the chicken diet on cholesterol, vitamin A and fatty acid profiles of egg yolk Arab chicken. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and significant differences between the treatments were analyzed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Eighty pullet of Arabic chickens (19 weeks old) were randomly assigned to four treatment diets with four replications for 6 weeks of fed trials. Dietary treatments consisted of R0 (0%) banana peel meal (TP) : 50% yellow corn (JK) and 3 levels of yellow corn and banana peel. The composition of yellow corn and banana peel meal used R1 (20 % TP ; 30% JK), R2 (30% TP : 20% JG) and R3 (40% TP :10% JG). The variables observed were production performance, cholesterol, vitamin A and fatty acid profile of the egg yolk. The results showed that egg yolk cholesterol levels were not significantly different compared to the control. Substitution of yellow corn with banana peel meal had increased vitamin A level up to 49% compared to the control. There was no difference in fatty acid profiles in all treatments observed. It is concluded that banana peel meal can be used to substitute 40 % of yellow corn in the chicken diet and tend to increased vitamin A of egg yolk. Abstract

Pelatihan Teknik budidaya dan pengolahan tanaman kelor sebagai pakan ternak merupakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dosen IPB University yang bertujuan melatih petani tentang cara-cara budidaya tanaman kelor dan pengolahannya sebagai pakan ternak unggas. Kegiatan ini dilakasanakan pada bulan Mei sampai dengan November 2022 di Desa Cibatok 2 Kecamatan Cibungbulang Kabupaten Bogor. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi: Identifikasi kelompok sasaran, kegiatan ceramah dan diskusi untuk sosialisasi dan pengenalan tanaman kelor dan manfaatnya baik sebagai pakan ayam juga untuk pangan/tanaman herbal kesehatan. Selain penyampaian teori, para petani juga melakukan praktek menanam tanaman kelor dan Membuat ransum pakan ternak ayam dari bahan pakan lokal (singkong) yang diperkaya dengan daun kelor. Sebanyak 17 petani telah mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan dalam bentuk ceramah dan diskusi serta melakukan praktik penanaman pada lahan demplot seluas 200 m2 dan lahan pekarangan milik petani. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi kegiatan ini telah berhasil membentuk kelompok pembudidaya kelor dan peternak ayam sebagai kegiatan tambahan bagi petani sebagai mata pencaharian tambahan petani di Desa Cibatok 2.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of cassava leaf meal with enzyme supplementation in feed on the digestive organs of the broiler. The research used a completely randomized factorial design on 48 Cobb-strain broilers distributed into two observation factors and four replications (consisting of 2 samples). The observation factor is factor 1 is the addition of cassava leaf meal (0%; 1.5%; and 3.0%), and the second factor is the addition of non-starch polysaccharides and protease enzymes with each dose of 250 g/ton feed (with and without enzymes). The variables analyzed were the relative weight of the digestive organs, the relative weight of the parts of the small intestine, and the relative length of the parts of the small intestine. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA), and if the results indicated significantly different, then the posthoc test was conducted. The results showed that the addition of cassava leaf meal could increase the relative weight of the gizzard significantly (p<0.05). The addition of enzymes can significantly decrease the relative weight of the gizzard, small intestine, pancreas, ileum, and the relative length of the duodenum and ileum (p<0.05). The use of cassava leaf meal in the feed up to 3.0% does not interfere with digestive organs. There was no interaction between cassava leaf meal and enzymes on size response of digestibility broiler organ. The addition of enzymes can offset the detrimental effects caused by the use of cassava leaf meals in feed.

Abstract

Ayam broiler merupakan salah satu sumber protein hewani yang digemari masyarakat Indonesia. Para peternak pun berupaya meningkatkan produktivitas ayam broiler misalnya dengan imbuhan pakan antibiotic growth promotor (AGP). AGP digunakan sebagai pemacu pertumbuhan ternak, meningkatkan ketersediaan lemak dan protein ayam, serta meningkatkan efisiensi pakan. Namun AGP dalam pakan sudah dilarang penggunaannya, sehingga perlu adanya alternatif imbuhan pakan seperti acidifier. Acidifier ini dapat mengontrol mikroflora dalam pencernaan. Acidifier yang umum digunakan yaitu asam sitrat. Hidroksisitrat (HCA) merupakan turunan dari asam sitrat dan telah ditemukan sebagai asam utama dalam asam kandis (Garcinia xanthochymus). Penelitian yang dilakukan pada bulan Agustus-Oktober 2020 ini dilakukan dengan metode pustaka. Sumber data/informasi berasal dari hasil pencarian data dengan web browser melalui beberapa situs search engine dan situs jurnal lainnya. Data sekunder diperoleh dari jurnal terakreditasi nasional maupun internasional bereputasi yang dipublikasikan pada tahun 2011-2020. Hasil studi literatur ini menunjukkan pemberian ekstrak asam kandis pada pakan broiler sangat efektif sebagai pakan aditif pengganti antibiotik growth promotor (AGP). Asam organik berupa asam hidroksisitrat (HCA) yang terdapat didalamnya mampun menekan pertumbuhan bakteri di usus halus.

Abstract

This study aimed to make estimation model of metabolizable energy (ME) of broiler chicken ration and feedstuffs based on proximate analysis and gross energy (GE). The estimation model used multiple and simple linear regression analysis with in vivo data approach. A total of 34 starter commercial ration data, 33 finisher commercial ration data, 17 experimental ration data, 14 corn data, 8 palm kernel cake (PKC) data from Center for Quality Testing and Feed Certification Laboratory and other research while the moisture content (MC), ash, crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), crude fiber (CF), GE and ME were used as database and analyzed using SPSS version 20. The results showed that ME estimation using multiple regression equation for starter commercial ration ME = 2,444.89 + 201.34x(MC) - 415.85x(ash) - 0.87x(CP) + 282.58x(EE) 284.96x(CF), finisher commercial ration ME = 6,451.05 - 244.99x(MC) - 226.72x(ash) - 101.40x(EE) + 363.12x(CF), experimental ration ME = 3,001.07 + 41.39x(MC) - 19.49x(ash) - 12.82 x(CP) + 87.31x(EE) - 160.99x(CF), corn ME= 8,504.07- 301.32x(MC) + 196.41x(ash) -252.58x(CP) + 114.52x(EE) + 47.99x(CF) and PKC ME = 6,197.28 - 111.45x(CF) while linear equation for starter commercial ration ME= 3,821.79 - 0.15GE, finisher commercial ration ME = 12,266.23 - 2.19 (GE), research ration ME= 1,416.83 + 0.398x(GE), corn ME= -2,958.80 + 1.68x(GE), PKC ME = -5,769.41 + 2.09x(GE). These two models could be used to estimate ME content in commercial finisher ration, experimental ration, corn, and PKC whereas both models could not be used for commercial feed starter. Abstract

Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) sangat berperan penting dalam membangkitkan perekonomian Indonesia. Peran dan fungsi usaha mikro ini harus tetap dipertahankan dan ditingkatkan untuk perkembangan perekonomian nasional. Berdasarkan hasil analisis di lapang, Usaha Mikro yang berada di Desa Situ Udik berjumlah sekitar 23 UMKM yang tergabung dalam forum di desa Situ Udik. Agar usaha UMKM tetap ada dan meningkat kinerjanya dari waktu ke waktu, maka diperlukan upaya dengan melakukan pendampingan yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan dan keterampilan penunjang. Namun, keterbatasan penguasaan teknologi menjadi kendala bagi pelaku Usaha Mikro di Desa Situ Udik, sehingga perlu dilakukan pelatihan dalam meningkatkan product values sehingga usaha yang ditawarkan menjadi lebih kreatif dan inovatif. Kegiatan pelatihan ini dilakukan secara offline oleh Tim PPKO Himasiter, Biro Pengabdian Masyarakat, Himpunan Mahasiswa Makanan dan Nutrisi Ternak pada bulan Juli-September 2022. Pembuatan logo, label, dan pengambilan gambar foto produk dilakukan dengan mempertahankan karakteristik dan nilai keunikan usaha. Kedepannya, diharapkan terdapat kegiatan serupa yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan keterampilan pelaku usaha mikro terkait skill penunjang lainnya di Desa Situ Udik.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of african leaf juice (Vernonia amygdalina) supplementation in drinking water on the performance and fatty acid profile of quail egg yolk. A total of 120 eight-week-old Japanese quail was used in this study and reared for 6 weeks in colony cage. Completely randomized design with three treatments and five replications were used in this study. The treatments were control treatment (without african leaf juice supplementation), 3 ml bird-1 day-1 supplementation and 6 ml bird-1 day-1 supplementation. The data were analyzed for variance, the significant difference results were tested by LSD test at p<0.05. The variables were feed consumption, drinking water consumption, egg production, egg weight, egg mass, feed conversion and mortality as well as analysis of egg yolk fatty acid. The results showed that african leaf juice contained high flavonoid and saponin. Daily supplementation of african leaf juice in drinking water at the doses 3 and 6 ml bird-1 day-1 did not affect the performance of laying quails. Mortality in treated quail was 33.3% and this value was lower than control. Ratio of omega 6 and omega 3 was ranging 24.5% – 26.2% fat. It could be concluded that african leaf juice could use to reduced mortality. Key words: african leaf, fatty acid profile, quail performance, Vernonia amygdalina

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze effect of the balancing lemuru fish oil and palm oil on the carcass of broiler and chemical composition of breast of broiler. 200 broilers reared from DOC to 35 days old. Broilers were divided into 4 treatment groups and 5 replications. The treatment consisted of: P0 = diet with 3% crude palm oil, P1 = diet with 1% lemuru fish oil + 2% crude palm oil, P2 = diet with 2% lemuru fish oil + 1% crude palm oil, P3 = diet with 3% lemuru fish oil. Data were analyzed using ANOVA with Duncan's significant difference test. Treatment with lemuru fish oil up to 3% had significant effect (P<0.05) on decreasing carcass but increasing the proportion of thigh. The use of lemuru fish oil feed as much as 2% and palm oil as much as 1% is more effective than control diet on carcass and meat chemistry composition.
